Chapter 1

Notes:

I am a HUGE zombie lover so of course I had to do a Yungi zombie series!! This may not be accurate exactly to other zombie stories or be exactly logical but this is how I chose to write it.

(DO not associate this with the real idols pls and thx <3)

Send kudos and enjoy!!!

I carried the tall man in my arms. The tall man was none other than my husband, Yunho. As the infection spread throughout his body, I felt him grow cold. I continued on, zombies scattered all on the outskirts of the tall metal fencing the military had placed. For the smaller less important towns it was the most protection we got, hints why im in this situation now. I grew tired the more I walked, but there was no way I was leaving him behind, even if he became some monster.

I turned the corner, finally seeing our home.

“Just a bit more..”

I told myself, pushing past my limits. If it could possibly fix this mess I've gotten us into, it was worth it. He was worth it. I carefully stepped up the porch steps, feeling my legs get weaker each step I took. When we made it inside I completely collapsed to the ground, legs finally giving in to the strain I had put on myself. I let out a sigh, whipping the sweat and dried tears from my face. I, Song Mingi, have brought a zombie into my home. I guess he has become my zombie now. I push myself off the cold hardwood flooring, grabbing Yunho's arms to drag him into the kitchen. I propped him up against the counter side and started to whip his face with a wet rag. The white rag quickly turned all sorts of gross colors as he was covered in dirt, sweat, and blood practically head to toe. I worked my way down his body, cleaning his chest, arms, and eventually the huge bitemark on his leg. As I touched it, his limp body winced slightly, twitching at the contact of the cool water on his deep wound. I wasn't sure if he'd actually wake up. Even if he did, would he have enough brains left to not eat mine? It races in my mind as I sob next to him. His skin slowly turns a greyish tone, it isn't hard to spot. I caress his skin lightly feeling the dampness from the rag still lingering.

“Fuck.. how did we get here?”

(Flashback)
“Yunho, over here!”

He walked towards me with a calm smile. I smiled widely back, excited to show the stash of food I found. This is exactly what we had come for. It was only a bit outside of fences, not many threats in sight. We both started stuffing our bags with the food, joking with each other as we did so.

“Good job, princess. I'm sure we'd starve right now if not for you.”

I smiled, placing a kiss on his cheek. We started to head back home, I walked a bit ahead of him eager to get home fast. I then heard a blood wrenching scream and as I turned, I saw it. A half bodied zombie attached to his calf. It had its teeth sunk right into my lover's leg. I ran over trying to rip it off, but the hold was way too strong. By that point I knew it was too late. Yunho started to fall over but I swiftly pulled him in. I lifted my foot, stomping on the zombies head. Over. And over. And over again. I couldn't see anything through my tears, everything was a blur. I stomped and stomped until the only part remaining was the smushed brains.

“YUNHO!”

I screamed as I fell down with him in my arms. He opened his eyes halfway, slightly lifting his head to me.

“I love you, my Mingi...”

I scream, shaking him repeatedly, hoping this was all a bad dream. But this bad dream was a simple reality and I was facing it clearly.

I stepped up from the floor, walking to the bathroom. I took off my dirty clothes and threw them in the hamper next to the door. I turned the warm water on and stepped into the shower. I scrubbed my skin until it was raw. I couldn't get away from the feeling of zombie guts on my skin. I have never been a violent man, I cant even kill bugs myself. But when I saw life slipping away from my husband's eyes, something in me snapped. It's like the devil himself entered by body. I can still see the gory picture of the zombies teeth inside of my Yunhos leg, and the image of its head after it ate my fucking foot.

“Holy fuck. What am I doing?”

I brace myself against the wall, a fog fills my head as I start to feel dizzy. I turned around, slipping down to the floor, head against the cold tiles me and Yunho picked ourselves. Everything we've done together floods my mind as I sit here. Sulking wont fix anything yet here I sit. Moping, naked in the shower while my basically dead husband sits in our kitchen. We went out for food and came back with nothing. Nothing but dread.

Once I exited the shower everything went dark. I don't remember getting to the bed, especially not tucked in. I rub my eyes and step into my slippers to cover my bare feet.

“I don't even remember checking on Yuyu. How could I black out and forget?!?”

I walk into the kitchen, expecting to see him lying there still. But he isn't? He is GONE? I frantically look around, shaking nervously. Until I see something. A figure on the couch. A slim, pale man. My Yunho. I hesitate but walk over, peaking over the couch. I see him lying there, looking shockingly beautiful, even while being a zombie he is glorious. He seemed to be wearing new clothes, and by the look of it so was I.

“Did he.. No way he couldn't have.”

I begin to wonder how this is all possible. It seems insane. I FEEL INSANE! I lean down face to face with him. I blow on his face trying to get a reaction. Then BOOM. He jumps right up at me.

“AHHH WHAT THE-”

I get cut off when he grabs and pulls me over the back of the couch. But he says… nothing. I look at him, confused but just happy he's awake. Why hasn't he eaten me, and better yet, why does he seem oddly human like? He opens his mouth, trying to say something, but nothing comes out. Only a mere groan escapes. I can see a frown on his face as he realizes he can't speak. I reach out towards his face, cupping it in my hands. I reluctantly placed a soft kiss on his forehead. I watch as his face easily lights up. He is still my Yunho. And he always will be.
