Long ago, in the kingdom of Hogwarts, there lived a man celebrated for his benevolence and unwavering commitment to the people who lived there. However, upon his ascension to the throne, he spiraled into madness becoming a beast. The King lost his love, three times over. First, the people in the palace had orchestrated her exile, second was her death by giving birth to their son, and lastly when his son was outcast by the same people who ripped his life apart. They twisted the gentle man into a cruel, and fearless beast.
And for thirty years he ruled his people, and with his death marked the end of his reign. In his place he leaves eight sons—each one more beast-like as the next, holding secrets deep in their hearts. The beasts are born from a beast, and only one shall ascend the throne and rule the kingdom of Hogwarts and its people.
Notes to know before wasting ones time if they don’t wish to read it
I will be adding more characters as the story progresses since I am not done with laying out the full story as it is. This fic is based on a romance game called Ikemen Prince: Beauty and her Beast (very Emma Watson coded with her movie roles lol). “The story itself is a dark, fantasy romance with a mature, and dramatic spin on the classic Beauty and the Beast fairy tale, trading a quiet castle for a royal court full of political intrigue, war, and dangerous princes. The story is set in the medieval Kingdom of Rhodolite, a small country caught in the midst of external turmoil and potential war with the death of their previous king.”
“In the game the Protagonist is known as a y/n or in the default name in the game as Emma/Belle (Lol this is unintentional). The character is played by yourself and she is depicted as a strong-willed, proactive commoner woman who works in a small bookstore who loves to read, and dreams of a grander life (Sound familiar lol. Which is why I instantly pictured Hermione as our heroine).
And the male characters, the ‘Beast’ so to speak, consist of members of the royal family—deadly and handsome princes who wield their own swords, fight on the front lines, and harbor deep psychological scars or hidden darkness. Because of their fierce and dangerous natures, they are feared and rumored to be "beasts" just like their father. And lastly the set up of the game is that one day, you are suddenly whisked away to the castle and designated as "Belle."
Your official duty is to observe the princes and select the next King of Rhodolite from among them before the last petal of a magical, caged rose falls. Also adding the cruel twist that is clause 99, while evaluating the princes, you find yourself drawn to their true intentions, vulnerabilities, and painful ways of life.
However, your mission comes with a heartbreaking catch. Under Article 99 of the contract clause, once the selection period ends and a king is named, Belle is strictly forbidden from ever having a relationship or interacting with the newly crowned king again.” By the end of the route you choose between romantic or dramatic endings with a sequel to follow. Don’t worry though as they are still HEA.”
Now with that explained I am making my own with Harry and Hermione as my leads. If I were to focus on another character’s route it wouldn’t be me pairing Hermione with them, but whoever I love to pair them up with, i.e. Draco/Tracey, Fred/Alicia, etc etc. For now though, this will be a Harry and Hermione AU for the game.
Also to add the changes will be a mixture of Harry Potter with the games AU. For example Fred and George are based on the twins—Nokto and Licht (German names for night and day lol) who are the only children to their mother in the game—but in this fic they will have their Weasley siblings, just not the same father and I changed their ages as I made ‘the golden trio’ older in this universe. As well as Graham Montague, Theodore Nott being downaged as well. Draco, Blaise and the rest are also older in this new universe.
Since the original twins didn’t have any other siblings I am adjusting the story to fill the rest of the Weaseys in adding another layer to what they deal with in the story as well. Adding the other Weasley kids as mentioned diverts from the games, but not that much as their core characterization will remain integral to their individual story. I adjust the storyline in my fic to include backgrounds for the other characters, by gathering from their own individual routes in the game format. Usually you pick a character and go down the route. The lore in each route is unique and you do not know each character unless you read all of their routes. So combining the knowledge of their lives and writing it on this set AU with new ‘identities’ is very fun. They will be OOC or their unique personality in the Harry Potter series will be amplified so to speak.
Also on that note, don’t worry about Harry’s parentage. His original character, named Leon in the game is an orphan taken in by the king and his then wife to hide the fact that they lost a son. As much as I wanted to keep that under wraps like it is in the game, I thought it was crucial to lay it out now so to not have people skip the fic if Tom Riddle being Harry’s dad is a turn off. I am also planning on a separate fic in the same universe that centers around Ara/Theo—I will mention their stories throughout the fic, but this is strictly HR/H center with Hermione as the main POV. I know OCs is a big no, no to a lot of readers. Reading the amount of hate over their stories is disheartening as I had started my writing journey at 13/14 in another fandom with heavy OC centric (Of course I use to write in the 1st person which I am annoyed I did that haha), but it is what it is and I respect your opinions.
So any more questions I will answer, I am usually good at messaging back unless I throw myself into my writing, planning, or other familiar issues that arise.
And thank you Mr_YK_Potter for the Harmony Out of the Ordinary Fest 2026 for this adventure I choose to go through wouldn’t have been possible had I not seen the castle/social gap prompt. This will be a multiple prompt fic with dark elements, Alternative Universe, Status gap, forbidden love, Harry somewhat having siblings and angst.
