Work Text:
The beach weather on Erid created a warm, humid environment that made staying inside feel like home, like Earth. But he could never have felt this cozy and safe back on Earth. Here in the home they have made, Grace only has to think of the here and now. Only has to worry about how Simon feels huddled against him.
Grace turns his face back to Simon as he brushes the silky black hair out of his beautiful face. Grace stares and takes in all of Simon's features, noting the thickness of his eyebrows and the fullness of his cheeks. They had both been so thin when they'd reached Erid. Now Grace sees how healthy and calm Simon is. How comfortable he has become around Grace.
Grace continues to map Simon's face with his thumb. How could this amazing man with his previous volatile temper settled down with Grace and decided to shared heats together. It was a vulnerability he had so closely guarded, yet here they were. Their legs intertwined, Simon's arms wrapped around Grace so their chests were a breath away. Grace's hands in Simon's hair and on his face as Simon sleeps before the depths of heat come over them.
Simon slowly start to rouse, blinking his eyes open. With a whisper, Simon says,
"Ryland?"
"Hmm?"
"You should sleep some."
"You're probably right," Grace whispers back as he pulls Simon in closer. It is not long before Simon is back asleep and Grace is back in thought.
About how lucky he is to be here, but there will always be this melancholic twinge attached to his heart that he was forced here, that he didn't make the decision to be here. Yet here he is. Living a lovely life in the arms of this other omega. How lucky he must be to have made it here.
So Grace listens to the ocean waves as Simon's breath follows its rhythm. The man who smells of salt and sand a way the Eridians could never replicate. Whose warmth he would never leave for cooler temperatures. His sea, his Simon.
