Chapter Text
His aunt and uncle raised Zack to keep the bugs alive, to just put throw out the window - So hey maybe it’s their fault.
After hearing friends freak out for years and years over an eight legged tiny monster being stuck in the car or in their bag he’d gotten used to being the one to just throw it outside.
But man it would’ve been easier to just crush the damn thing.
“ZACK GET IT GET IT GET IT!”
“Jesus alright it’s just a tiny fucking spider calm your ass.”
Ethan had always been terrified of any bug on the planet, and Zack was used to it, it had just become a natural thing to toss it outside as soon as he would hear shouts coming from his friends mouth.
What he wasn’t used to on the other hand, was getting bitten by the little things while trying to save them from getting stomped on to death.
“God damn it the thing bit me dude!” He yelped before hitting the spider, smashing its guts onto his hand where the tiny monster made his attack.
“See that’s what you get for trying to be its hero.” His friend snapped.
Zack shook his head with disappointment at his false ungratefulness.
“Oh well I guess your right, let me just put him right back on your neck where he was found”
“Woah woah, No need for that, everyone loves a hero”
Zack smirked with satisfaction in his win, wiping the crushed bug off the top of his hand. Such a simple, ordinary occurrence to happen to someone, but no, of course not. Zack wasn’t that lucky, of course the memory had to turn its back on him and laugh in his face.
After going back home to his small Brooklyn apartment, kissing his aunt on the cheek and walking up the stairs to his room, he'd been hit with a wall of nausea, making him feel as if the room was spinning faster and faster. In a never ending spiral.
What the fuck is happening right now
The spinning stopped just as fast as the nausea had hit him, slowing him back to doorway he had been gripping so tightly.
The rest of the night had played out completely normal- dinner, shower, sleep.
What really freaked him out was the morning.
As soon as he snapped awake he knew something was wrong.
The blood flowing through his veins felt like fire was coursing through his body. Sweat pouring down his face he rushed out of bed to get the bottle of aspirin off his dresser, where it had been previously sitting from any of his frequent pounding headaches.
After some time the pain had slowed to a murmur. Not exactly comfortable, but manageable.
When he finally gathered himself and glanced at his full length mirror on the wall he immediately snapped back seeing that the large shirt he had put on to sleep the night previously was tight fitting on him now.
Deciding to brush it off as a misremembered memory of the night previous he walked back over to his dresser.
After searching through drawers hastily thrown in clothes, he finally found something he was content with wearing for the day.
When trying to pull on the old ratty but comforting band tee he was struggling to, well, let go of it.
Okay man just let go of the shirt.
Is there something sticky on my hands what the fuck is happening?
“Just.. let… go!..” he muttered under his breath.
When he finally managed to release the fabric, he sighed with relief.
Something was up with him today, probably just bad sleep.
