Chapter Text
Wrong, that’s how it felt. Just wrong. Looking down at my knee and seeing it twisted and bulging wrong in every place made it worse for my 5 year old mind.
“Shhh Aethy sweetheart it’s ok I’ll fix it don’t worry, I’ll make the pain stop I promise.”
Looking into my father’s dark green eyes as he examined my knee I knew he’d keep that promise, he always kept his promises. Especially when his eyes looked like that, soft and bright and warm like the meadow a little ways into the woods it always made me feel safe. My father turned around, turning his eyes away bringing my mind back to the scorching hot pain in my knee, but with it came an itch that was always there when I got hurt but this itch was more persistent so I listened. Bringing my hand up to my knee I closed my eyes and listened to the itch, it sounded like the birds outside in the early morning, the creek running in the silence of the night, the sound of old trees falling over somewhere, a pull towards the earths core. Then the itch went away and so did the pain, opening my eyes I realized it’s because my knee was perfectly fine no more wrong. My father hesitantly grabbed my leg and made me move it to make sire it was actually ok his eyes filled with tears but he blinked them away trying to hide it like always, “My little sorcerer.”
