“Just. End it.”
“W-what?”
“Yeah, End it. At least when you're dead, he can't get to you.”
He recalled those words, remembering being offended even. He'd almost forgotten about it, probably from how much stress he was experiencing from when he was trying to send verity back.
But looking at his situation now, maybe he's right.
He can't leave. Verity's everywhere, he said so himself. No matter where he runs, where he goes– he'll always be there.
And twixxel- God twixxel- he died for what? All because he couldn't handle shit himself. For something he did to himself? God, he should've gotten off a long time ago– he should've left the moment weird shit started happening in the first place.
He didn't even get to say goodbye.
Hands trembling, he felt his breath labored and heavy as he continued to point the barrel at the yellow ball, his vision blurred for mere moments.
There's no other way.
He'll die either. It'll either get killed by that damn monster eventually or…
He looked at the gun. A sheer black pistol that absorbed the sterile light of the lab. Such a small weapon that could be so deadly if used by the right person.
He felt something snap inside of him, a string pulled tight in a straight line after coiling around for ages.
He'd rather die than be with him.
As if his body awoken, he felt himself snapping upwards, leaning back as his arms curled inward against himself–
–barrel tucked just underneath his chin.
Mob felt his survival instincts kick in, an animal sensing danger from his own will. Yet, it was distant. He didn't let himself think as he rested his finger on the trigger– pressing it–
“O-OKAY OKAY! ILL LEAVE YOU ALONE. ILL LEAVE.”
The mob paused. His hands still resting on the base of the gun, fingers barely pulling the pressure of the weapon beneath him. No, he had to be lying, he's not falling for his tricks. Not again– he- he just wants him to stop–
“PLEASE. ILL PROVE IT ILL–” Verity seemed to pause but only for a split second, almost as if it was painful to continue. “ILL EVEN BRING TWIXXEL BACK. YEAH– YOU- YOU WANT HIM BACK RIGHT? I CAN DO THAT.”
that immediately made mob hesitate. Slowly he looked back down at verity, his expression frozen.
“A-are…are you serious?” He asked, apprehension in his voice.
“YES- YES! ILL EVEN LET HIM STAY– FOREVER. I WONT TOUCH HIM– EITHER OF YOU. I WONT EAT ANYONE ANYMORE ILL–” he almost sounds manic, his facial expression curled up almost desperately, his eyes shaken. “ILL JUST BE THE HELPER THAT I WAS MADE AS. JUST–”
“Just don't leave me…”
There was silence, a staggering kind that let them soak the information up. The sound of silent breathing from mob could only be heard as he stared at the ball, the former looking at the ground.
He lowered the gun.
“You'll do that?” He finally asked, voice flat.
Verity perked up, almost surprised. “Yes– YES I'll do that! I'll even add materials to your chest to make things move more smoothly.”
Mob could only silently stare, hesitating. “And you won't kill anyone? You won't…” mob bit his cheek. “You wont hurt twixxel or me?”
“YES! Exactly! I wont harm either of you– no matter how hungry I am! I promise!” The ball bounced up and down, as if hopeful, grateful to do this.
Mob considers it. Maybe that's what's worse about it, he's actually believing it. Regardless, he needs more proof. He needs insurance that it's telling the truth and not do this shit all over again.
“How do I know you're not lying? You could just– go back on your word.”
“Nono, I promise! Really! In fact– if I ever do it again I'll, ill…” He trailed off, hesitating.
“Ill delete myself from your computer and…and you'll never have to see me again.” he finally says, almost hollowed.
But why can't you just do that now? He wanted to ask, but he already knew the answer to that. He needs Verity to bring twixxel back, to put everything back to the way things were. And he can't do that without him.
Hell regret this in the future.
“Okay. Okay fine. I'll…ill let you do that then. But you better keep your promise, or ill–”
“I will, I will! Really, I will…” Verity said almost immediately, his voice eager yet holds something else he couldn't pinpoint in there. Defeat?
It was almost sad.
Sighing, mob shoved his gun back in his inventory before walking up the Verity, staring down at him with a disdainful look. He closes his eyes before picking Verity back up, his hands still shaking but he was too exhausted to care.
“You better not make me regret this.” He said before tucking him in his hands and walking out the door, shards of glass laid forgotten on the floor.
What mob did not see was the shocked and sorrowful expression on verity's face, his mouth curved into a relieved smile but his eyes filled with fear.
“I did it…” he muttered to no one but himself, tears welling up in his eyes as he quietly laughed. “I did it…”
“He's alive…”
