Work Text:

Maybe RB doesn’t feel like a home yet. It’s still Max = RB in Isack’s mind, but he is taking points, showing why he is in this organization, and improving as a driver every day. Isack does well. In the routine of the race calendar his relationship thrives too.

It’s not as easy as it used to be, but still Liam’s eyes light up when he sees Isack, and it has never stopped being wonderful and exciting. Sometimes they are able to sneak around, spend the night sharing a hotel room. Arvid had walked in on the two of them once, but he had been cool about it, and is just giving Isack amused grins these days. He had perhaps been insecure, watching his partner being so cozy with this beautiful boy for social media, but being around Arvid had eaten those vague fears. He is Liam's friend, and he is a little flirty for the job, for the media, but it means nothing.

After the race and other duties they are having drinks in the Vcarb cafeteria, where Isack presents two flight tickets to his boyfriend whose bright blue eyes widen. ”You got us a trip?”

”That I did.” He is a nervous now, playing with the simple silver band on his wrist. It’s a short trip, only two days and three nights, and he had talked to Declan before booking anything, double-checking Liam’s availability, but maybe Liam would still consider it a little too much.

”Awesome. Where are we going?” He takes a more careful look at the flight info. They are going to Paris.

Isack would want it all with his partner, kissing on every street corner, letting everyone see how Liam is his other half. They can’t be anything more than good bros in public, but he had still wanted to do something, booking a romantic hotel near Eiffel Tower.

Only hours later they are at the airport. Liam is calm in public, protective of his personal space, and keeps giving Isack lovely, sleepy smiles. Isack watches him resting his body on the dark blue airport bench, taking small bites of his sandwich, and he is grateful for the moment together, having this normal adventure with Liam.

He had struggled finishing the preparations for the trip, ruminating the different accommodation options more than was healthy, but the delight in Liam’s eyes is his prize.

”It’s so beautiful.” The hotel is not as new and shiny as Isack would have expected after carefully going through so many available photos, but if Liam is happy with everything, he’d keep his mouth shut. He likes the subdued color theme too, the air in the room smells only clean and neutral, and the service at the reception had been nothing less than excellent. He lets his body drop on the thick mattress, looking around himself. Liam had laughed at the tub in the bathroom, surprised and joyful, and Isack could likely convince him to have a bath together tomorrow. He is picturing cold drinks, some music, lots of bubbles, and Liam’s pink cheeks.

”It is, and only a short walk from Eiffel Tower.”

He tugs Liam’s shirt sleeve, pulling him close for a kiss, and his old teammate comes willingly.

”Do you want to go out for a short walk?” It’s late, but Isack is itching to start their trip. They don’t have a minute lose.

”Lead the way.”

They stop on Pont d’Iéna, admiring the romantic views. Liam’s eyes are mirroring the nostalgia Isack carries in his heart. He’d like to kiss his boy, but he can’t do it now. Other young couples are around too, sharing kisses and soft touches, Isack trying to avoid looking at them, and letting envy sour his mood.

An hour later they are back at the hotel, having stopped to buy something to eat before bed. Isack’s body has lost its heaviness, and when Liam kisses him surely, he is enjoying the warmth of their mouths. He is eager to get more, pushing a hand under’s Liam’s shirt, but that makes his partner react, and wrap a hand around Isack’s wrist.

”Sorry baby. I’m so tired.”

”It’s okay. No need to apologize.” Isack’s smile is confident, when he takes a deep, slow breath. He never wants Liam to be uncomfortable or push through something like sex for Isack, but he needs a moment to remind his dick of that too. And perhaps jerk off in the shower tomorrow.

Liam presses the last kiss on his lips, and goes to his luggage, looking for his pajama pants, and a t-shirt for the night. Isack notices a flash of something brown and soft, the tiny Dachshund stuffed toy he had once bought Liam, the sight making him smile.

”You have Wilbur with you?” Liam looks up, a little embarrassed. ”I have most of your gifts at home, I would worry about losing them. But I wanted a mascot too.”

Isack is doing the same thing. Outside the car he has his L-shaped pendant hidden under his shirt. He likes having a reminder of Liam everywhere with him.

They just look at each other, both little lost, and trying to find something to say. It’s overwhelming, but not in a bad way. They are still growing together.

”You can take the first turn in bathroom”, Isack finally offers, Liam accepting.

”Just a moment.” Fifteen minutes later they are both under the covers, lights turned off. Liam doesn’t offer to cuddle, knowing that even though Isack finds the idea perfectly sweet, he gets easily too hot.

In the morning he wakes up with blond hair tickling his nose though, smiling before he has even opened his eyes.
