Borrowers and humans have a... difficult relationship to say the least. In the past, borrowers have always fallen victim to the giants, being used and exploited for their own gain, and so the borrowers made themselves unseen from the rest of the world.
They've now simply became a myth amongst humans.
And with all myths, some are true.
Two Time, a borrower, was raised to fear and despise the giants, which drove them to be become paranoid. They'd frantically look around and listen to the tiniest vibrations, constantly moving from one house to another to avoid getting captured or too comfortable. Thankfully, they hadn't been caught, only a few close calls but enough time for them to escape and search for another house to occupy.
After hours of through the tall blades of grass, treading and finding a new place to live, Two Time found a large greenhouse and it had a bunch of well-grown plants inside. Also, it was good timing because it was starting to pour a little.
The borrower took a deep breath before sneaking in through the slightly opened door, their dark and muted colored attire blending into the shadows.
The drizzle then became a storm, making it harder to hear if something or someone approaches them. Two Time had to be quick, one borrowing trip, then they're out.
But then the borrower's stomach growls. Uurppp...
"G-gotta find food..." The tiny glances side to side, and when they look up, they saw the biggest and juiciest patch of strawberries they'd ever seen.
Two Time gasped. "Oh Spawn, thank you for your blessing!" They'd quickly hop onto the leaves, moving as swifly as a grasshopper. They latch onto the strawberry, arms stretch out wide to accomodate its massive size. The borrower took a bite of the big strawberry.
Oumph! A rush of sour sweetness filled their mouth. They moan in delight, hands pressed to their cheeks, "suh... good!"
The tiny closed their eyes in bliss, taking another bite, they'd never tasted anything so delicious-
Suddenly a giant hand came down to snatch the strawberry.
"AHHHHH..!!"
The scream startled the giant, nearly loosing his grip. He turns the strawberry around to find a tiny human... He brings it up to his face.
"P-PLEASE! DON'T EAT M-ME!" The borrower plead, scrambling to not be seen. Two Time's wide eyes looked at the massive scale of the botanist, from his big hat that overshadows his eyes, pale skin and muted colored clothes... He's quite terrifying.
The botanist smiled, there was something soft in his features. "Hey, I'm not gonna hurt you, little one." He noticed how their face was covered in strawberry juice. Heh, looks like someone really enjoyed his berries. "You got a bit of somethin' there-"
"D-don't touch me!" The tiny is basically shaking like a leaf, head turned away. Spawn, they should've known! Of course it's too good to be true! He must've had these juicy berries to lure in prey just like them!
"Wh-why should I trust you anyway?!"
The giant, Azure, paused. His hand rubbing on his chin. "How about this," He was carefully choosing his words, not wanting to startle the little guy even more. "I'll let you stay here in my greenhouse until the rain stops? Then you're free to go."
Two Time's brows furrowed, and gritted their teeth. "You're lying!" They blurted out, quickly taking out their dagger (which was just a sewing pin) to poke at Azure's fingers.
"ACK?!"
The botanist hands slipped, dropping the berry as he winced in pain, sucking his finger.
"W-wait! Slow down!"
Two Time bolted out of the greenhouse, they didn't care if it was raining hard, they just needed to get away from that... that-!
The borrower had slipped and tumbled down a muddy path. "AHH!!!" Their little body uncontrollably rolled into the river. Water rushed to their ears, panicking they desperaly tried to swim up for air, only to be swept by the current.
Azure went after them, he knew they wouldn't have gone that far, then realizing the tiny was being carried down the river. The human ran beside the gushing stream, thankfully it was shallow enough for him to stand on, but he couldn't imagine what's it's like for the borrower.
He saw Two Time's figure, got in the water, and sucessfully scooped them up.
Secured safely in his hands, Two Time coughed up water as they got their bearings. Their blurry eyes focused on their giant savior, their gaze went up and up... "You- You saved me?"
Azure looks at them, lowering his voice. "Yeah, yeah, I couldn't just... let you die." He pauses for a bit. "Even if we had just met, I can't help but..." His thumb was about to pat their head, but froze. "May I?"
"Y-yes..." Ever so slightly, Azure caressed their head, palms securing him in place. The poor tiny was shivering, wet and cold. Yet, the giant's warm touch felt soothing, they felt the smooth texture of his skin, his comforting words. How can a creature so intimidating be so... gentle?
"Come, let's not stay in the rain and head to my house."
And this time, Two Time didn't refuse.
The botanist opened the door, giving light to his living room. A cozy living space with a fluffy sofa, a lamp with a warm glow, and potted plants. He settles them onto the sofa and puts his hat aside, revealing his full face.
He's quite handsome, actually.
"Welcome to my humble abode..." Azure crouched beside the sofa, taking a closer look to his new guest. Two Time hunched instinctively, feeling scrutinized by the giant.
"...Wait just a moment... are you a member of the Spawn?" Azure points to their clothes that don a Spawn symbol.
Two Time's eyes widened, hands fidgeting. "Yes. I... just- didn't know the members come in different sizes..."
"The Spawn welcomes anyone doesn't He? Perhaps you could join me for a prayer after we cleaned ourselves." Azure suggested. "And ah, it seems I haven't gotten your name, little one."
The borrower hesitated but seeing the giant had no other intentions and practically saved their life... maybe it won't be so bad. "It's... um... Two Time, and you?"
"Azure. It's a pleasure to meet you, well, not previously a pleasure... but it is a pleasure now."
"Two Time... Isn't that a clever name?" Azure muses, and he couldn't help but poke the borrower, making them blush. "H-hey-!"
Azure chuckled and stood back up. "Anyhow, I'll have to excuse myself and change into a new set of clothes." He said, pointing to their soiled attire. "You should too, Two Time."
The borrower nervously laughed. "Uh, well, do you have any spare... little clothes?"
"Not quite but..." The giant tilted his head. "Perhaps I could make you a new one." Azure's eyes lit up at his own idea.
"You'd do that?" Two Time was slightly skeptical. "Why?"
Azure nods in response. "It's the least I could do after frightening you."
Two Time scratches the back of their neck, avoiding his gaze. "It... wasn't your fault. You were trying to help weren't you?"
The giants smile softened. "Yes, but I can only imagine how terrifying it is to live as someone as small as you." His giant hands carefully cupped their body and nudged their cheek.
"You're living in a world far too big for you, so please, let me help."
"And well, it'd be nice to have some company, especially with someone who shares the same faith as mine." Two Time leaned into his touch, holding his finger.
"Thank you, Azure, thank you."
They watched as the giant grabbed a piece of scrap cloth, then some scissors to cut little holes in them, and sew them together to make a small poncho for the tiny. "Here, try in on."
The human lend the poncho to Two Time, and hid behind a nightshde flower pot to change. It's a bit oversized but that's part of the design.
They came out of their hiding spot, giving it a twirl as the poncho sways with them. "It's nice, I like it." Azure's eyes crinkle. "I'm happy to hear that, Two Time. Now if you'd excuse me..."
"Ah, of course, take as much time as you need!"
As Azure left the room, Two Time listened until his footsteps fade and decided to dry their wet clothes. Using their makeshift grappling hook, they placed it across two potted plants and hung them there.
As Two Time waited for the giant to come back, they were getting a little impatient. So they decided to check in on him. They descended to the floor and into the fluffy carpet and made their way out of his living room.
They listened for any shuffling sounds which would lead him to...

Two Time looked through the crack of the door and the giant was completely naked in bed, catching his breath.

Azure crawled onto bed and laid on top of it. He groaned as he got comfortable and laid them on his chest. Two Time could feel his steady, no, quickening heartbeat.
Azure covered his face with his hands and squealed.
