Work Text:
You stood in front of your mirror in your boyfriend’s oversized jacket, which had three silver metal hook-and-clasp closures on the front. You completed the fit with yet another oversized grey trousers.
Perfect!
You hum to yourself while making a few adjustments in front the mirror, making sure you look overall neat and pretty!
Your thoughts drifted to him—Megumi.
Would he think you looked pretty? Would he notice the little details you'd put into your outfit?
Two soft knocks pulled you from your thoughts. You hurried to the door, smoothing out your jacket one last time before gently pulling it open.
You were certainly surprised to see Megumi, standing there with a small bouquet in his hands. Was this for you?
His eyes widened at the sight of you in his jacket, unable to keep the soft smile spreading across his face. His eyes widened at the sight of you in his jacket, unable to keep the soft smile spreading across his face. His eyes widened at the sight of you in his jacket, unable to keep the soft smile spreading across his face.
“Gumi?” you squeaked out, voice a little higher than usual due to the unexpected visit.
His eyes immediately softened at the nickname before speaking quietly.
“May i come in?”
“Yeah, of course!” you moved to the side, allowing him to come inside.
You gently closed the door after he walked in, you turned around and looked at him, trying to ignore the rapid beating of your heart.
He let his gaze wander over you before coming closer, holding the bouquet of roses out towards you. The tips of his ears becoming a soft hue of red as he avoided eye contact.
“these are for you.” he held eye contact with you, watching you take the bouquet with wide doe-like eyes that could only come off as surprise.
“Gumi— you didn’t have to..” you gazed at the roses before your eyes flickered back to his. Deep blue eyes crinkling at the corners from a smile that only you could bring to his face. Dark strands of his inky hair framed his face, he looked so handsome and content with his gift, you couldn’t help but burst out giggling.
“What’s so funny?” he mumbled, trying to maintain his stern demeanor despite his cheeks heating up at the sound of your contagious laughter, which could only be described as music to his ears.
“Nothing, nothing !” you took a deep breath, trying to calm your constant giggles.
You carefully placed the bouquet on the small table beside the door, glancing back at him as he waited patiently, his expression quietly asking you to follow him.
He gently took your hand in his, pulling you deeper into your dorm before stopping both of you in front of your mirror.
You couldn’t help but notice the warmth that filled your chest just from his touch.
“You look cute in my jacket, by the way,” he murmured absentmindedly while smoothing out the fabric and adjusting the hood.
He avoided eye contact, trying to keep himself from fumbling over his words by pretending to focus on fixing the hood.
“Thank you, Gumi.” his heart skipped a beat at the nickname you had for him. His eyes finally flickered to yours.
You felt your cheeks warming at his sudden gaze and the way his pupils dilated upon meeting your eyes.
He blinked and tried to keep his composure at the sudden eye-contact, but he couldn’t help it. His hand rose to the side of your face, gently brushing your hair behind your ear.
Your breath hitched, his touch directly sending a spark through your heart.
“i love you.” the words rolled off your tongue so easily, whenever you were with him.
“what?” he tilted his head slightly, deep blue eyes widening in surprise. Even after months of dating, those words never failed to catch him off guard.
“i said— i love you.” you kept staring back at him, eyes full of love and affection.
His heart ached painfully by how tenderly loved he felt. The sight of you in his jacket, standing in front of him and telling him you loved him, was too much for his poor heart.
“i love you more.” he couldn’t stop himself from cracking a smile at his own words. It was new for him to openly express affection, but for you, he was willing to try. Even if it felt overwhelming.
You slowly brought your hand up, placing it over Megumi’s. His hand was still resting against your face from where he had brushed your hair behind your ear.
The touch of your hand felt electric to him. He could hear his own heart pounded against his ribs, the sound feeling impossibly loud in the quiet space between you, he was sure you could hear it too.
His gaze fell to your lips before returning to your eyes. He instinctively leaned slightly closer until your foreheads were touching.
God, the deep blues of his eyes were so pretty up-close; you could drown in them forever.
“May I…?” he quietly whispered, making sure to not overstep your boundaries.
You nodded.
He instantly leaned in, closing the gap between you as he kissed you gently. His lips felt soft and smooth against yours. You instinctively kissed him back, your hands coming to rest on his shoulders to keep balance.
He tilted his head, deepening the kiss, and so did you. He tasted like mint and dark coffee; you wanted to stay in this moment forever. One hand resting at the nape of your neck, while the other came to hold your waist. His fingers gently tangled through your hair as he kissed you softly.
Eventually, he pulled away to catch his breath.
“Was that okay?” he asked nervously, eyes searching yours as he held you.
was he seriously asking you that?
“Yes, in fact, it was very okay,” you mumbled before leaning in for another.
“May i kiss you again?” he asked quietly, eyes scanning your face for any signs of discomfort, only to find none.
“Yes. Please.” as you pleaded, a smile found its way onto your face and before you know it—
He leaned in for seconds, you could feel his smile against your lips. Unable to keep your hands to yourself, you rested one on his chest while the other settled on his shoulder.
He broke the kiss with yet another affectionate peck at the corner of your lips, as though he couldn't quite bring himself to let you go.
You stared at him lovingly, the corners of your eyes crinkling with your smile as you looked at the raven-haired boy. His hair was so pretty, like ink spilled across a page.
“Giddy?” he asked, watching you with an amused smile, even though he already knew the answer.
Both of you remained standing close, wrapped in each other’s arms.
“Yes.” you paused. “Did you know that was my first kiss?”
He smiled softly. “Did you know you were my first love... and my first kiss?”
“Really?” you eyed him curiously, his confession catching you off guard.
“Really.”
Your heart rate picked up instantly at his words.
You were his first love?
You wanted to shower him with kisses and tackle him onto your bed in a hug, but you stayed still, simply watching him.
He noticed the way your eyes widened and the way your cheeks slowly bloomed into a soft shade of pink.
“Shy?” He leaned closer, tilting his head.
“No.”
He raised a brow, watching you as if to say, Seriously?
“It’s written all over your face, pretty.”
Your heart skipped a beat at his nickname for you. Pretty.
“Okay, I lied. Yes,” you admitted, frowning at how easily he made you confess.
“Well, don’t be.”
His arms wrapped around your waist, pulling you into a hug. The kind that didn’t need words. The kind of hug that felt like home.
He smelled like cologne and freshly dried clothes, mixed with a warm, boyish scent that was unmistakably him.
“You smell nice, Gumi,” you mumbled against his chest, your arms wrapping around him to return the hug.
“You told me you liked this specific cologne of mine,” he said, pausing briefly. “So I wore it for you.”
You swore your heart did a whole backflip at his words. He really remembered the little things you said?
“Seriously?” you looked up at him, only to see him quickly look away, the tips of his ears and the back of his neck growing warm from his own confession. You couldn't help but adore the way his dark, inky hair complemented his pale skin.
You giggled and leaned further into his embrace, tightening your arms around him.
He swore his stomach filled with butterflies as he felt your giggles vibrate through his chest. Damnit.
