Work Text:

The familiar drone of mountain above her, usually quiet enough as to not drown out the odd gales of wind, as of recent have grown louder. A constant buzzing like of an insect. Something broke upstairs, and the constant stream of information has been harder to shift through, to comprehend.

But of course, the Goddess who calls this place home has about as many other things to do as fingers on an amputees stump. Difficulty means nothing with enough time and attention to shift through it all.

... So in the end, the visit quickly became a matter of 'when'. Waiting till a panicking lord atop magnificence decends to her wretched level to negotiate.

The goddess of stone lifts her hand, sending the world into static gray. And all at once the droning ceases to be.

It's impolite to leave your house so dirty with guests over, no matter how horrible they may be.

With her preparation complete she looks upward, where she knows her other is being kept, broken.

Something about it moved her heart of stone, ever so slightly.

...

She isn't able to spend long in mournful silence before she begins to hear footsteps behind her. Turning she sees a blond woman, in a blue and white outfit, a closed fan resting in her hand.

"Lady Ariya Iwanaga."

"Watatsuki Toyohime... I have an inkling of what you're here for."

The atmosphere feels tense. A beat passes by without a word.

A deep breath, "The Capital has requested your assistance in a certain matter. The seal on you will be lifted in exchange."

"'Requests', such a unurgent word don't you think?" Ariya allows herself a smidge of satisfaction from the way the other girl grits her teeth. "Do you want to know what I think this is about?"

"... Yes." Replies Toyohime, the stone goddess notes the small signs of stress over her body.

"I think that your people's era of temporary permanence is facing it's inevitable ending. And you've decended from your artificial Heaven to beg for my help in maintaining a world of false immortality." She adjusted her grip on her stone mask, looking through to see Toyohime's anger slowly rising. She smiles, letting it reach her eyes for once. "A torrent of information has passed through here... And my other half stopped processing it. That means you want me to freeze this place, right?"

Toyohime nods, "And the Capital would be guaranteed eternity if you just-"

A glare from the goddess across from her stops her in her tracks immediately.

"Toyohime Watatsuki... Tell me, did you really expect to get anywhere with me?" Ariya lets out an amused huff,

"Just- please, just one ask and you'll be free! Please save my people!" Toyohime shouts, her voice echoing around the seemingly endless cavern.

Ariya looks back impassively, "And what have those people done for me? Trap me in my own shrine and brainwash my other." She shofts her pose, to point her free hand at the Lunarian, "To support your peoples farce of an unchanging world."

"I-I get it! Is there anything that can change your mind?" Though she expected this to be said in vain, Toyohime was pleasantly surprised when Ariya began to think.

"Give me back my Yuiman."

Toyohime sighs, "I've already given her a vaca-"

"You and I both know that's not what I meant."

"She wouldn't even be in this position if-"

"Don't you put this on me!"

Both sides take a moment to themselves. Regathering themselves...

Until...

"We're done here." Speaks Ariya, beginning to wander away.

"Wait!" Ariya's piercing gaze is once again apon Toyohime, "Soon an ex-lunarian sage will come down here with a proper plan... Like it or not this crisis endangers both the moon and Gensokyo! Even if you hate us, don't sacrifice Gensokyo to your rage!"

"... I will take that into consideration. Though, weren't you trying to sacrifice Gensokyo for the preservation of the moon?" A deep breath, "I'll await this sage of yours, and make my choice then, now leave"

With a wave of her hand, the world returns to colour, and Toyohime has to quickly retreat to the moon before the gales of impurity hit.
