Vance tiredly sat on the rocking chair in the nursery, rocking back and forth, rubbing his daughter’s back. His eyes had bags and he was so exhausted. Sometimes he felt like he was losing his mind. He struggled to keep them open.
Bruce sat on the other side, laying on the ground. His hair a mess, and his eyes tired too. They both were a mess.
A very cranky Bria climbed all over her baba, Bruce. The newborn far from tired. She was devious, that was for sure. Bruce had gave up the fight a long time ago. He gently picked up Bria and she immediately wailed. He sighed and quickly sat her back down, where she calmed down.
It took maybe six-ish minutes before Bria finally tired herself out and fell into a slumber as well. Sprawled against the floor next to her baba.
Meanwhile, Vanessa clung to her papa. She was propped against his chest, her tiny fingers grappling onto him. She tired herself from her hissy fit earlier. Having her papa rub her back and pamper her made her fall into an easy rest.
Having both of the girls asleep at once was a task itself. It was… difficult. Rare too. Bruce and Vance signed tiredly. The room stiff and still, in fear of waking the girls up. Bruce slightly turned to Vance, giving him a pleading look that words couldn’t convey.
Vance smiled tiredly but even that faded quickly. Exhaustion was apparent on both of them.
Bruce was too afraid to even speak. He didn’t wanna wake up the girls. So he whispered clearly and audibly as he can, some words falling on death ears.
“Vance? I’m going to try to cook dinner, can you watch them… please?” Bruce was already up, holding Bria gently, and tip-toeing quietly to escape. It may have seen silly but the two girls could wake up at the slightest creak on the floor! He had to be careful.
Vance sighed and tiredly nodded. “Mhm… I got them…” He was close to flopping on the ground. He closed his eyes, rocking the chair still for Vanessa’s comfort.
“Thank you” Bruce whispered quietly before suddenly appearing at Vance’s side. He gently placed Bria on the opposite side of his chest. For all the stealth in the world, they’ve gotten better with it. Bruce kissed Vance’s temple.
Vance fondly smiled, keeping his eyes closed. It was the small things that they’ve came to appreciate now after having children.
Bruce snuck off and went to go make dinner.
Vance quietly sat with his two precious babies. He eventually stopped shifting his body weight and fell asleep too. His body slouched so none of the girls would fall.

It took Bruce two hours to make dinner, which was the normal. Bruce made Pizza, prepped now baby bottles, cleaned up a bit, and so on. He even made him and Vance snacks they could eat later on.
Bruce took one final breath. The kitchen clean, trash taken out, swept and everything else. He rubbed his tired temples. It was an amazement he made it this far. A small sense of dread came over him though. He wanted more alone time. Time to feel human and take care of himself. He definitely needed to call his parents up to take care of the girls… but that’s a chore for another day.
Bruce took a few moments before quietly walking up the stairs, and opening the nursery door.
He made sure to be gentle, but when he opened it, he saw the three precious loves of his life resting. It was sweet.
Vance’s curls swept over the girls small frames, and they seemed to be snuggling into him more than ever. They all seemed so peaceful when they slept.
Bruce knew Vance needed rest. So he’d let him have this. Although a thought did come into Bruce’s head.
He let out a quiet thoughtful hum, before carefully walking to the master bedroom, and grabbing his camera. He tiptoed back into the room and snapped a quick picture. Quiet and seamless.
He waited for the photo to come out of the camera before carefully shaking it and seeing the lovely picture. This one was gonna be framed.
Bruce quietly sat the stuff down, and went downstairs to enjoy some dinner. Hopefully, when his husband woke up, he’d too can have some time to enjoy his dinner.
