“No. Just no.” You hold up your hands shaking your head as Valko holds out the upgraded hunter’s watch to you.
“It’s for your protection.”
“I will be fine. I’m a trained hunter.” The look he gives you is sweet, and open, and pleading, and you will not fall for it. Even as you feel your resolve wavering. How this man makes you want to do anything for him is ridiculous, but you are a big strong hunter you don’t need additional protection.
“V, I promise I will be fine. Xavier will be there with me, and like thirty other hunters.” Never-mind the very protective and freakishly well-informed head of Onychinus who had a habit of tracking you whenever you were out of the N109 zone or somewhere he couldn’t be right at your side. Seriously, Luke and Kieran both had popped up and made themselves known on a few occasions when you were just out shopping.
“I know you will be, I know how strong you are my Lily-bell, but I can’t be with you, and this will make me feel better.” And that did it. You held your wrist out and let him put it on you, before he laid a gently kiss on the underside of your wrist. You stroke his hair with your free hand and step into him, letting him wrap himself around you and nuzzle your stomach.
“I’ll be back by Saturday, and we can go to the arcade together, maybe get a chocolate cake?” You offer, trying to ease some of the tension you can now feel thrumming through him.
“I’d like that. Now, let me show you the new features on your watch, don’t worry, they won’t interfere with its normal function, so your bosses won’t even realize yours is snazzier.”
