Work Text:
Glamrock Freddy wasn’t used to emotions like this. Sure, he had a pre-programmed personality, but that was mainly for performances and interacting with guests. He was the star of the show, wasn’t he? The face of Fazbear Entertainment.
As Freddy watched this new kid he met a mere six hours ago walk out the front doors, it all hit him.
He is gone. He thought. He is gone and I may never see him again.
Freddy never pressured Gregory into staying there. He knew it wasn’t safe. He knew Gregory had barely survived the night. But after everything that happened, Freddy needed someone to trust. The feeling of a goodbye that felt too soon hit harder than he’d expected for someone he had only just met a mere six hours ago. Sure, he always had a friendly demeanor towards the children, but something about this one was…different.
Most would see Freddy as an attraction rather than a sentient being with memories and emotions. Kids would take pictures with him and his bandmates while their parents sat around chatting at the dining tables.
Gregory wasn’t like that. He was a lost kid trapped in the mall. Freddy was still a bit confused on how he ended up in his chest cavity, but was glad he ended up okay. Freddy swore to protect this boy in any way he physically could, even if it meant getting reprimanded by Vanessa a few times. He would put his own life at risk if Gregory needed him. And he’d do it again.
Freddy wasn’t as naive as he sometimes came off to guests and staff. He was fairly confident that Gregory was the reason his friends were dismantled, their parts now wired to him. I know he was just trying to survive, Freddy told himself, I cannot fault him for that. Like how I cannot blame him if he runs and never looks back.
Why am I feeling this way? Why does goodbye hurt so much?
He knew why. He knew exactly why.
Bonnie.
At least this time, he got a proper farewell to his Superstar.
