Chapter Text
Have you ever woken up to your own home alone moment. I definitely looked way different then Kevin though, I was wearing black combat boots, dark green cargo pants, and a dark brown ribbed shirt, oh and I had blood dripping down the side of my head. My head was throbbing and I put my hand to my left ear and felt the thick blood run through my fingers. I stumbled towards my house and I only got one strange look from a stray cat as i walked across the boardwalk. I could hear the waves lapping against the sand and the gulls squawking in the morning air. It was probably around 4 a.m. so the town had yet to wake up. My day was going horrible
I was heading home after my latest monster run in, ready to get some sleep, when i reached my address. I looked up expecting to see a faded yellow facade and instead I found a empty lot with a for sale sign. My first instinct was to think that i was hallucinating that my head wound was making me see things, so I walked forward expecting to run into a picket fence. In reality I just entered into a mess of weeds.
I immediately freaked, my entire living family was gone. Well at lest my moms side. I frantically searched the lot hoping that my head injury was makin me hallucinate. I closed my eyes trying to wake up from this dream, no nightmare.
The adrenaline coursing through me opened up my eyes to the messed up stuff that was going on. I turned around and began to prepare my mode of escape. i stumbled through the overgrowth and back into the street. I turned a corner and headed down the boardwalk back to a secluded beach away from tourist. i began to dig in the sand near a tree marked with a single jagged star, my family's crest. my fingers hit solid metal and i pulled out my emergency kit I had prepped two years ago in case something ever happened that would cause me to leave my family behind. I grabbed some gauze and wrapped my wound, then i slung the bag over my shoulder and began to walk towards the bus stop.
I was no more than twenty steps away when i heard crying tear through the morning air. The wails of a young kid compelled me towards the noise. i walked toward a large white oak and saw two kids lying in the sand, a boy and a girl about 6 years old. I bent down to understand what was going on. "Hey there guys, I'm Nayeli, who are you and where are your parents.
The girl stopped wailing and said " I'm Sofia and my brother is Dane, we don't have a dad, and our mom left us here almost two days ago, we're scared because our mommy said that she didn't want the monsters and that if he cared our dad would save us and that raising a demigod would have been fine but two is impossible. Do you know what a demigod is?
With that i stood up and contemplated how best to handle the situation. " well how abut you come with me, I've got food, and I'm really good at fighting monsters, after all I'm a demigod too.
I looked up at the full moon and pulled of one my necklaces, it was silver with a jagged star embed into it and shaped in a crescent moon. I held it in my hands walked to the shore and snapped it in half. silver dust fluttered down to the water and I moved back towards the kids. "Some friends of mine are going to help me bring you guys to a safe place away from monsters how does that sound"
Dane looked up into my eyes and said "You promise we will be safe?"
My heart broke at this young child who was unable to trust anyone because of what life had done to him and his sister. "I promise that i will protect you and Sofia with my life, I will make sure that you both are safe."
"What did i tell you about making promises to young boys who have older sisters" said a voice emerging from the shadows.
"Just because one of the greatest male demigod of our time messed up doesn't mean I will."
"It's good to see you again Nayeli, so what is it that made you call.
"Well I think its finally time for me to head to camp Thals"
