"Alright everyone you can pack up now…"
It had been a regular Friday at Kamiyama… regular as in the Weirdo Wombo Combo had been messing about all day, giving most of the teachers a headache.
Thankfully for them (and their heads) though, It was finally the end of the day.
Rui was packing up all of the junk he had spread around his table, his pencil case he'd had since the last school year (it was filled to the brim with random notes and stationary he'd either been gifted or picked up off the floor), his worksheets and a robot he had been working on since he'd finished his work almost too early.
Well, he hadn't been to focused on it that much as he had been staring at the back of Tsukasa's head, watching him write down answers.
Anyway, speaking of Tsukasa…
"Hey Rui!" A familiar star's voice chimed.
Apparently the blond had already packed up all his stuff.
"Ah, yes Tsukasa..?"
"Well I've been thinking…". He looked like he'd come up with the best idea ever.
"Would you like to have a sleepover tonight?"
…
Huh!?
"My parents will be away all weekend and Saki will be at band practice for most of it, You obviously know we don't have practice either, and I've been wondering what I should do to pass some time,"
"And I suddenly got the idea to have a sleepover!" The actor struck one of his signature poses,
With a proud smile across his face.
"A sleepover huh…"
"I do have to work on the last part of our script," Rui thought.
"But a sleepover with Tsukasa sounds nice."
"Oh, uhm…"
"Have you invited anyone else..?" The director spoke shyly
"No… is that a problem?"
Tsukasa looked disappointed, like that was a definite no and not just a question.
Rui immediately panicked,
He didn't want to upset his future star!
"N-No! Of course not, I just was wondering…" He spluttered.
He had obviously had sleepovers with Tsukasa before, with and without their fellow troupe members, but he couldn't help but get nervous of the thought of it, especially because of him pining over Tsukasa.
It's not surprise he has a crush on him, if you were seeing how he acts with him, constantly wanting to be near him and saying how much he wants to make his star shine, you'd figure it out in immediately, but there's no way the star in question felt the same.
"Hellooo… Rui? You there?"
Shoot I zoned out…
"Oh! Sorry, what did you say?"
"I said, Do you want to come?"
"Ah, Sure! I'm not really doing anything this weekend anyway…"
His usual smile returned to Tsukasa's face,
"Hahaha! Of course you do, nobody would pass up a sleepover with a future star like me!"
"Fufu, well then, should we get going?"
Just seeing the other boy so excited made him stupidly happy.
"Ah, shouldn't you get stuff from your house first?"
"I don't think there's anything in particular I need to grab, so we can just go straight to yours!"
He was grinning now, to be honest that was a complete lie, he just wanted to spend more time with the other boy.
"Alright then let's go!" Tsukasa was practically beaming with joy, so much so that he practically ran out the door.
"Come on Rui!"
"Lively as ever…" He followed closely behind, slinging his bag over his shoulder,
"Right behind you!"
"Welcome in!"
They had already made it to the Tenma household, Rui had been there so much it was practically a second house to him.
It was a bit strange since it was just them there, it was also completely silent other than the hum of various electronics.
"Are you just going to stand there..?"
The star was already standing on the bottom of the stairs, he must've rushed in without him noticing.
"Fufu, impatient, aren't you?"
They made their way to Tsukasa's room, Rui set his bag down and sat on the shorter's bed, his room was the complete opposite of this, his was littered with robots, tools, sheets of paper and a bunch of clutter where as Tsukasa's was much larger and more empty. (Not in a bad way of course.)
"So then-"
Tsukasa was standing in the middle of the room with his hands on his hips.
"What do you want to do?"
"Hmm…"
Rui grabbed his bag and started to rummage through it.
"I do have a robot here I would like to get your opinion on," His sly, manic smile was extremely obvious even if he was looking down.
"I was working on it during class."
Tsukasa moved closer and sat down next to him,"Hey, haven't I told you to stop working on things during class?!"
"Our teacher might catch you, you kno-" he was cut of by the latter pulling out a hand-sized robot dog, it was blue with slightly lighter spots and a red collar, it also had stars for eyes and it's tongue was sticking out.
"A dog..?" He looked puzzled.
"Just watch." Rui said as he turned it on.
The dog started to bark and move around Rui's palms.
The star has tried to touch it when it stopped, and unexpectedly shot confetti out of its mouth and into his face.
"GAH!" Tsukasa yelped.
"Ahaha!" The director laughed.
"It wasn't supposed to be as aggressive as that, my apologies." He set down the robo-dog and reached up a hand to pick some of the confetti off of Tsukasa's face,
He wasn't really paying much attention to the other's expression, but after he already pulled multiple bits off he realized,
"Oya..?"
Tsukasa was staring at him,
He was blushing.
They were way too close.
"Are…"
"Are you alr-"
"N-NOT TO WORRY RUI!" He interrupted, before he could even think the blond turned away.
Though his voice was slightly shaky,
"That aggressive confetti wasn't your fault AT ALL!"
he had cleared all the confetti from his face and smiled at Rui, acting like nothing happened.
"Anyway that robot of yours is truly amazing! It's incredible how you can whip up things like that!" He was now beaming like a little kid when they get something they've been begging for for weeks.
"Thank you Tsukasa, but that's nowhere near my best work…"
"Even so it's incredible! I could never imagine creating something like that!"
"Hmm…" Rui thought to himself,
"I wonder what that was all about…"
Now it was a bit later into the evening, they had been mindlessly talking to each other about whatever came to mind while eating snacks Tsukasa had already brought up to his room.
The "Robo-dog" had been laid to the side, It had also gotten a bit warmer so Rui had taken his cardigan off.
"Ah, Rui." It seemed like Tsukasa had suddenly remembered something.
The latter hummed in reply.
"It's getting late so should we get changed?"
"Alright then,"
"I'll grab my stu-" he paused.
…
"Is something wrong?"
"I've…"
"I've forgotten to get pajamas…"
"WHAT?!" The troupe leader suddenly shot up,
"I told you to get anything you needed from your house first!"
It was stupid really, the only reason he hadn't gone back to his house before he came here was because he was so eager to spend time with Tsukasa that he had completely forgotten about that.
Now he's sitting on his best friend/crushes bed, completely pajama-less.
"Well not to fear!"
"…Huh?"
"You can just borrow mine! I do have a pair that's way too oversized for me!"
…
WHAT.
"Tsukasa it's alright really, I can just run back to my house really quick-"
"NO." He put his finger to Rui's lips
"It's too late in the evening for that!"
Rui genuinely thought of just jumping out the window right now, he's definitely blushing now.
The shorter leaped off the bed, "I'll go find them, just give me one second!"
"Uhm,"
"Ok…" He replied, his voice barely above a whisper.
"ohmygodtsukasayou'regoingtobethedeathofmeIswearonnenerobo."
The director sat there awkwardly while the other rummaged through his closet.
"AHA!"
Rui shot up.
"Here you go!" He turned to face the director while holding up the pajamas in question.
It was a navy blue button up-like shirt with long sleeves and trousers, all of it had star embroidery on certain parts like the cuffs of the sleeves & trousers, as well as the neck and bottom of the shirt. It was such a "Tsukasa thing to wear".
he handed it to the poor, purple haired boy,
"You can get changed in the bathroom, I'll go in after you."
He stared at the start garment for a moment.
"…Alright"
Rui got up as quickly as he could without drawing suspicion and half-ran out of the room, he knew his face was bright red,
He was definitely overthinking this.
"Why am I freaking out over a pair of pajamas???"
He stepped into the bathroom and locked the door, While holding the clothes he couldn't help but imagine Tsukasa wearing them, they were clearly his size so they'd be a bit baggy on the blond.
"…Cute"
He groaned at himself for being such a lovesick idiot.
"Just put the pajamas on."
So he did.
Once he had them on he looked at himself in the mirror, sighed, and walked out of the bathroom holding his clothes.
He stopped in his tracks outside of Tsukasa's room.
He could hear him talking to himself..?
"Weird…"
He creeped closer and peered inside the room, his breath immediately hitched as he could now see what the other was doing and saying.
"Fufu!"
Tsukasa was acting like him while posing In front of the mirror while wearing his cardigan.
WEARING HIS CARDIGAN.
Rui immediately turned away and put his back to the wall,
"OH MY GOD THAT'S SO ADORABLE WHAT THE HELL WHAT THE HELL WHAT IS HE DOING???!!!!?!?!?!"
He buried his face in his hands, the same one which was currently burning hot.
Calling his best friend adorable is so, so stupid.
His mind was racing with every possible positive word he could call him, because, what else was he supposed to think?
The director sprinted towards the bathroom, (Thankfully the floor boards weren't that creaky)
He had to calm himself down for a bit before shouting through:
"I'm…"
"I'm done!"
"OKAY!!" A the stars voiced called back, clearly startled.
He took a second before he came back to Tsukasa's room, just to make sure he doesn't "catch" Tsukasa, that would just make things awkward.
Once he sat down on the bed the star immediately grabbed his pajamas and left the room,
He shouted from the hall, "I'LL BE JUST A MOMENT!!!!"
"Alright!" He called back.
The first thing his eyes searched the room for was his cardigan.
Soon enough he spotted it lying on Tsukasa's chair, even though it was next to his bag earlier.
"A bit sloppy huh?"
"A star like you should at least be able to make a believable crime scene, Fufu…" He left it there so the shorter wouldn't catch on.
The latter laid back on the bed and waited for the other to come back when he noticed something.
These pajamas smelt like him.
Now that might be a weird thing to notice but they are Tsukasa's, aren't they?
That made Rui blush little.
He was wearing the same pair of pajamas as his crush after all.
It wasn't long before he heard the same voice from the hall again.
"That's me finished!" Tsukasa walked into the room and Rui sat up.
He was wearing a white t-shirt like top with light blue trousers, that also seemed like a "Tsukasa thing to wear."
"How do I look?" He struck a pose.
"G-great."
He put his clothes down and sat next to Rui on the bed. (cross cross apple sauce might I add.)
"So…"
"Do you like your pajamas?" Tsukasa tilted his head and smiled at Rui (which is another thing he found endearing)
"Oh, uh yeah."
"They're very comfy…" He mumbled.
"Haha! I knew you'd like them!" The blond said proudly.
They sat for a moment until Rui spoke up again,
"Tsukasa, I must ask,"
"Where exactly am I sleeping tonight?"
"Ah, Well." The star straightened up,
"I usually have an inflatable mattress for you but I'm not sure how to use it myself…"
"So, I was thinking we both sleep in my bed! Since it is big enough." He answered.
Oh
My
God.
He honestly expected this, but he still wasn't happy about it. (Ok maybe he was a little but still.)
There is no possible way he's getting any sleep tonight.
He was staring at Tsukasa practically dumbfounded when he added:
"O-Only if you're ok with it of course...!"
"I…"
"I don't see anything wrong with that."
Now he had completely sealed his fate.
Soon enough they started setting up for bed since Tsukasa "needed his beauty sleep", they removed clothes, stray pieces of confetti and scripts off the bed, turned off all the lights except for a lamp, pulled the blue covers away and sat back down.
"Goodnight then, Rui!"
"Goodnight Tsukasa…"
And so the star shut off the last light. Surrounding them both in darkness.
Rui tried his best to get some sleep, he really did, but the steady breathing and the warmth of the boy next to him was unnecessarily distracting.
"He's so oblivious…" He thought to himself, How is he able to get away with this?
Rui had no idea how long he'd been staring at the ceiling now, the director had given up on sleeping entirely, opting for listening to the star breathe while he kept tossing and turning.
He then realised he was extremely thirsty, he hadn't even thought about drinking anything at all, the last time he did was probably this morning before school since he has forgotten his water bottle at home.
"I should probably just get some water downstairs." The director thought to himself.
He peeled back the covers and slowly got up, so he didn't wake the other boy.
While walking downstairs Rui thought about how insane this sleepover had been so far, Tsukasa blushing at him for his knows why, catching the blond wearing his cardigan, wearing the others pajamas, he could go on and on about all of this for days, he'll probably rant to Nene after this anyway.
Now he had finally made it to the kitchen, he'd grabbed a cup and filled it with cold water.
Rui stood there for a moment with his back leaning against the counter top while sipping from the mug, he hadn't bothered to look at what it said, so he checked.
1# STAR was written on it in bold, gold letters.
It was probably a gift from Saki.
"God he's everywhere…" he thought to himself.
The director was feeling less dehydrated, so, he shut off the lamp he put on and went back upstairs with the mug in his hand.
The moment he stepped back into the bedroom he expected to see the blond sprawled across the bed like he'd normally be but he was met with him sitting up in bed, rubbing his eyes and with the lamp turned on.
"Rui..?"
"Tsukasa..?"
"What are you doing up?" He questioned. The stars hair was quite messy and he had clearly woken up not too long ago.
"Why are you up..?"
"Because I was getting a drink," Rui motioned towards his cup.
"What about you?"
"Because I-"
Tsukasa suddenly looked extremely embarrassed, which was worrying.
"…Nevermind"
The director layed down his mug and sat onto the bed.
"What's wrong?" His voice was clearly laced with concern.
He could think of a million things that might be wrong, maybe he was annoyed at something he did earlier or maybe he just didn't want to be around him anymore. He tried to push all of these negative thoughts out of his head and just focus on Tsukasa.
The star tucked his head into his knees,
"It's stupid, Forget I said anything…" He mumbled out.
"Whatever it is I'm sure it's not stupid."
"Just go back to sleep."
"I won't unless you tell me."
"…Are you really sure you want to know?"
"Of course."
Tsukasa lifted his head up slightly.
"It's because I wanted to tell you something."
"He wants to tell me something..?"
They were both sitting up straight now, their shoulders were touching and the shorter was refusing to make eye contact.
"Whatever it is, you can tell me."
"I promise I won't get annoyed or disgusted or anything like that." He was looking into the blond's eyes now. They looked really pretty in this lighting.
They were both silent until Tsukasa sighed.
"Alright" he finally looked directly at Rui and took a deep breath.
"Rui, I think…"
"I think I'm in love with you!"
He…
He's what..?
The star immediately rushed to explain himself, "I-Im sorry! I know you probably don't think the same but please don't be grossed out! I really value our friendship and-"
"Tsukasa."
"…Huh?"
Before the troupe leader could even react fully, he was interrupted by lips crashing against his.
Tsukasa sat there frozen until his eyelids slowly fluttered closed, he grasped Rui's shirt and pulled him closer.
Neither of them truly knew what was happening, but it didn't matter much to them, all that mattered in that moment was eachother.
Rui let his arms wrap around the other. He could finally stop worrying.
The director then pulled away, somehow in the past maybe minute or so he had somehow ended up on top of the other, pinning him underneath.
"I love you."
Tsukasa's face was flushed completely red now, he just stared at him in shock until he covered his face with his hands.
"…Oh my god."
"Hahaha!" Rui laughed, he laid down on top of the shorter's chest, and just stared at him for a moment before starting to play with the boy's hair.
Tsukasa sighed as he placed his arm around him and kissed him again.
"I can't believe this is happening…" Rui thought, he'd been left craving this for far too long
Once they had separated once again the star spoke up,
"I can't believe I've been mulling over this just for you to kiss me as an answer…"
"Fufu, Did it not answer for me?"
"…"
"Be quiet…"
The latter chuckled softly to himself before planting a kiss on the other's cheek.
"Goodnight then."
"Goodnight, Rui."
And so they spent the rest of the night cradled in eachother's arms, and they both finally managed to drift of to sleep.
Bonus because I'm so ruikasapilled
"…"
"Be quiet…"
The latter chuckled softly to himself before piping up again,
"…You know I saw you wearing my cardigan earlier right?"
"WHAT!?" The blond looked absolutely mortified.
"Mhm! And you were imitating me aswell, it was really cute."
"STOP IT..!"
"You were saying things like: "Fufu! I'm Rui and I looove exploding things in scho-"
"SHUT UP OR IM KICKING YOU OUT."
