Chapter Text
“Obito, stay,” Fugaku called out from the front of the room.
Crap, he gets by skipping these Uchiha meetings because he's usually on missions far outside the Leaf. Kamui cuts down on travel time so much that they are assigned to him without question. And now, one of the few meetings he actually has to attend is going to be dragged out by the clan leaders' meaningless ramblings.
“I actually have something planned, I really have to go!” He gave a cheerful smile and a wave as he continued walking out the door, ignoring the man behind him. It was a lie, obviously, but he'd rather get stabbed a couple times than sit one more second listening to the bullshit that comes out of these senile people's mouths.
“No, you don't, you’re off duty.” Fugaku grabbed his shoulder, which was swiftly swatted away by Obito, now turning around to confront the face that was probably going to ruin his day.
Unfortunately, while he was left out of the loop, it seemed like everyone else knew exactly what Fugaku had called on him for. As the crowds of his ‘relatives’ funneled out, each one of them seemed to give a judgmental stare as they walked past.
Really, he's barely related to them anymore. His father was a Uchiha, which means hes 50% part of the clan, but 50% of him got ripped off from his body anyway! When are they going to hold a Senju meeting, huh? He would go to one of those. He's probably more related to Kushina than the bastard standing in front of him with the deepest wrinkle lines he's ever seen. He's lucky his sons are actually pretty cool. It's hard to believe bright kids like Itachi and Sasuke came from this guy.
When the last person finally filed out, Obito crossed his arms and continued his standoff with the clan leader, who only took in a long, deep breath. Like one of those old people breaths where they’re kinda dying, reminded him of being stuck with Madara in that cave, he can tell Fugaku’s going to start ranting now because he’s making the same stupid face Madara did.
“The Uchiha Clan is foundational to the Leaf; we’ve been here from the start, passing down our Kekkei Genkei from one generation to another.”
Fucking hell, he knew Fugaku would start blabbering, might as well be back in that cave right now.
“Hey, can we cut to the chase? You know I don’t care.”
“This is important, Obito, important to the entire clan.” Fugaku’s voice hardened to stress his importance, although it's not nearly as scary as it was when he thought he was talking to the Grim Reaper back when he was younger.
Obito sighed, “Just tell me what you want.” The clan never really liked him that much anyway; he only came to this damn meeting because Minato said it's important to show up, even if it's just once or twice a year, considering that these are supposed to be mandatory.
“You need context.”
Obito turned around, walking towards the exit, “I’ve heard all the tales of the Uchiha before, straight from the man himself. If you have a point, make it now.”
“Take your eye back from Kakashi Hatake.”
…
Obito stopped in his tracks.
“This isn’t some spontaneous issue. People have been calling to have that eye reclaimed ever since you gave it to him.” Fugaku crossed his arms and sighed. “You only got away with it for so long because you were dead, constantly out of the village, or the Hokage was vouching for you.”
“But now there are no more excuses.”
“What the hell do you think you're talking about?” Obito snapped his head around to get a good look at the newest bullshit the world has decided to throw at him.
The Clan leader pinched his temple, muttering, “I can't believe it was someone like you who got that ability.” He pulled out a rather nasty-looking scroll from his back pocket, handing it to Obito.
Definitely an old piece of shit; it felt like he moved the wrong way, and the paper in his hands would crumble into dust. At least he wouldn’t care if that happened, although that would get him into even more trouble. So he opened it carefully to view whatever was so important inside.
“You know how rare and important the Mangekyo Sharingan is. As much as I hate to say it, you’re the only one to awaken it since the old days.” He could feel the disappointment emanating from Fugaku despite this supposedly being a feat of strength in his eyes. It's not; it's a feat of severe trauma.
Yeah, he does know how important the Mangekyo Sharigan is. He only had to sit down in front of a bunch of Uchiha elders as they explained it in detail, with a bunch of duties and responsibilities and such. They couldn’t care less if he was alive or dead beforehand, but suddenly coming back to life with a cool new eye made him hot stuff.
He looked through the ancient scroll, expecting it to be a list of long rules, but that wasn’t the case. It was a story, a love story.
“What is this? How is this related to anything?”
“If you weren’t an idio-.. Ugh, if you weren’t so impulsive and impatient, you would know.” Fugaku raised his voice slightly. To be honest, he was a very formal man most of the time, being clan leader and all. It seems like Obito was one of the few people who constantly pissed him off enough to break his act, though it was partially intentional on Obito’s end.
He continued to read the scroll; the writing was a bit difficult to understand due to slight linguistic differences over time and severely faded ink. The story was mostly about a couple, with a male Uchiha protagonist. Blah, blah, blah, war stuff, whatever. His lover happened to be blind or some shit, how is this even-
“Again, how is this even related to what we were talking about?” This was really starting to piss him off. There was only so much bullshit he was willing to take from the clan, but coming after his friends? After Kakashi? That would be it.
It took so long to beat it into Kakashi's head that he truly wanted him to have that eye after he came back. That was a gift from the deepest point of his heart. He wanted Kakashi to be more powerful; he wants Kakashi to keep growing stronger with that gift. He wanted to see the world with Kakashi. Even if he died, he wanted to help protect Rin. He wanted to keep watch over the two of them with that eye.
He could never forsake that gift; that would be a defiance of the very person he is.
Fugaku snatched the scroll from Obito's hands, causing bits of it to crumble to the ground. “This actually happened. It was the first and only recorded instance of a Uchiha gifting their Kekkei Genkai to someone else. Now it’s the law that if that happens, the other person must be inducted into the Uchiha clan.”
“This is especially important now that we know that eye is a Mangekyo; we can’t just have some outsider walking around with our clan's most vital strength.” There was a certain venom in the way he spoke, putting extra emphasis on the word 'outsider,' as if being an Uchiha was all so good.
“You don't own my eye. Why would anyone care? It's none of their business.” He knew these people were domineering, but he didn’t realize it went this damn far.
“What, you old bastards just sit around and find something to be mad at because you have nothing else to do?” These people were truly insufferable; it's easy to believe they were feared back then. They were probably out rampaging anyone who dared breathe around them.
“This scroll-”
Obito swiftly cut the old man off, “So your cheesy ancient romance novel says Kakashi has to come to the Uchiha family dinner, so what? I’ll just invite him next time.”
“That's not what I’m saying. These are ancient and foundational rules.” He took a threatening step forward, maintaining a firm and authoritative voice.
“Let me put it into words you can understand. Under Uchiha's law, you are… in union with Kakashi Hatake; the only way to terminate that is to take your eye back, which is something you should do anyway, given that the Mangekyo works best when the user possesses both eyes.”
A wave of emotions slammed into Obito all at once.
In union, like, married?
Of course, it wasn’t an actual marriage, just an unofficial technicality kind of thing.
But that didn’t stop the strange heat in his stomach, spreading to his chest, then his face. Married? Married! What the hell! He could feel his face flush as he thought about it. That means they’ve been married ever since he gave him that eye around 8 years ago.
Hah, means he was a widow for a year.
But like, actually married? He hasn’t thought about marriage in a long time, not since he used to dream about marrying Rin. He used to think about all the ways he could be the best husband ever, really cherish and treat the kindest girl in the world. Of course, she still is the best girl out there, but he hasn’t thought of her in that light for a while now. Still, even when he eventually found someone, he would want to be the best partner he could be.
Seems like he did a pretty shit job so far, proposing to someone, then dying isn’t too romantic. Still, the prospect of it made something flutter in his chest.
But then there was that second part.
What a strike of nostalgia; he can almost hear Madara’s grainy, dying voice telling him something similar.
“The true power of the Sharingan can only be displayed when both eyes are together.”
“You should be grateful, it took a lot of convincing so I could talk with you one-on-one. This entire issue is an easy fix.”
“I’m not taking back that eye,” Obito responded all too quickly. His determination was absolute; that will never happen.
“You have no choice, you either take that eye or-.”
“Look, I have to go now, apparently there’s a ring I need to buy.” Obito turned away, only to be grabbed again by Fugaku.
“I’m being serious.”
“So am I.”
“This isn’t a joke, Obito, this isn’t something you are going to ignore, this isn’t something you are going to laugh off and move on with. You are committing to here and now, take back that eye, or commit to an official…” He paused, like the five-letter word was too hard to say. “union to Kakashi Hatake.”
“I already told you I was on my way to buy a ring. Have you gone hard of hearing already?” Obito tilted his head to taunt the man in front of him, speaking down like he was talking to a child.
“To a man? You would seriously degrade yourself like that rather than take back something rightfully yours?” There was an undeniable sense of condemnation and disgust in Fugaku's voice as he spoke.
Obito dug his hands into his hair in frustration. “Agh! It's not mine, it hasn’t been since I gave it to him! How many times do I have to say that?”
“We are talking about another man, Obito! If that wasn’t-” Fugaku stuttered on his words, attempting to find the one that best fit his thought. “Vile enough, you have a duty now that you have the Mangekyo Sharingan.”
Something caught Obito's throat; he doesn’t care about the man in front of him or whatever old Uchiha rules that condemned him at the moment either. But, it was thought that Kakashi was somehow ‘disgusting.’
He bit his lip. That isn’t true. Kakashi is amazing, although annoying at times with his strange habits. It's not something he likes to admit, but he's always admired him, ever since they were young. That admiration did spark jealousy, but you can't blame him; he was truly amazing even as a kid. He is amazing even now.
Resolute, strong, and with a resilience that could tear down nations. He hated the fact that they were teamed together when they were younger, but now he couldn't be happier. Being with a comrade like that was one of his life’s greatest gifts. The fondest moments he kept in his heart were spent with Kakashi. He can’t imagine a life where Kakashi doesn’t exist with him.
Despite his tough exterior, his friend is actually pretty sensitive. Obito wears his one heart on his sleeve; it's not something he can help or really change, and for a while, he thought Kakashi was some heartless bastard.
But that's not the case; he cares and loves so deeply. It was shocking, waking up in that hospital to Kakashi clinging to him, crying so much he couldn't even make out the words he was saying. He didn't leave Obito's side, even when he healed enough to begin walking again. Until then, he’s never heard Kakashi talk so much; he talked about everything he thought about while Obito was gone.
Obito loves his comrades so dearly; they're all he thought about in that cave, but hearing the way Kakashi spoke of him in that hospital made him realize that Kakashi's love could outdo his own. Of course, that asshole had to beat him in everything.
He could never be disgusting, but that wasn’t what Fugaku meant.
Loving him in that way would be disgusting.
“You need to have offspring, Obito.”
The hell? Who even says it like that?
“Your kids will have a higher chance of having powerful eyes like yours, plus some other abilities, apparently.” He nods to Obito’s gloved hand, the one covering the white skin from the Hashirama cells he was patched up with.
Something sank in his chest at that statement. He could almost throw up that way he talked so matter-of-factly about it, as if he existed as a gene pool to produce perfect weapons of the Uchiha clan.
“Screw this, I’m not doing shit for this clan, I’d rather go rogue than let you freaks lay a finger on my kids.” Obito snapped away again, taking a few strides for the door. If he wasn’t out of there in the next minute, some major political issues would befall the Leaf, most likely a selection happening for the next clan leader.
“So you're ok with this? Betrothed to a man?”
Something panged in his heart, making him stop at the doorway. He didn't turn his head; he just kept looking forward.
“You’re willing to demean yourself to such a revolting level for petty and selfish reasons?” His voice boomed yet again. He could rip Fugaku to shreds; it would be easy. He's far too powerful for him. Right now, he felt so small in the presence of that voice, so angry, but it felt like he could do nothing.
It was partially because he was right.
Obito paused, building up a response, an insult, a defense, an argument, something, anything. But nothing came up, only a sinking feeling in his gut.
“I don’t care about this Uchiha shit.”
He walked out the door, with a blank expression on his face as Fugaku's voice faded behind him. “I can’t believe the best gifts of the Uchiha were given to someone as disappointing as you.”
Breathing hard, Obito offered his hand to the shinobi who lay underneath him, out of breath and drenched in sweat.
“You’re getting a lot better, Shisui.”
It took him a moment to collect himself before Shisui was able to recognize the hand and pull himself up, giving a faint laugh despite his exhaustion.
“Not good enough, apparently, I couldn't even get you to use wood release yet.” He scratched the back of his head in embarrassment.
“So that's been your goal this whole time?” Obito playfully hit the younger boy on the side. “Don't beat yourself up about it, that's my job, you’ll get there eventually.”
Still catching his breath, Shisui nodded. Obito threw him a bottle of water, which he gulped down quickly before collecting his breath to speak again. “You were pretty rough this time.”
Obito perked up and gave a guilty laugh, “Yeah, I was a bit frustrated when you asked me to spar again.”
“Was it about what Fugaku said to you after the meeting?”
“I, uh- yeah, it was.” He was so pissed off leaving that room; he was honestly debating going into Kamui and using mokudon until he completely depleted his chakra resources. Just see how destructive he could be with wood release, although he'd probably get scolded by Kakashi if he did that. Thankfully, he was able to calm down while sparring. Unfortunately for Shisui, but that little punk is surprisingly durable, so it’s fine.
“Does everyone know what he said to me?” There was a nauseating feeling plaguing his body; it made everything spin in his head. It's hard to tell if it was because he just finished training or because of what happened earlier.
“No, well, I don’t, but I think the older people do.” Shisui raised his arms above his head to stretch his back before turning back to his elder, “Why is it bad?”
Obito sighs, plopping down on the grass, “Let’s just say I'd rather him tell me I’m disowned than whatever he said.”
Is that true? He would rather be disowned than sit in on another meeting. He would also rather leave the family than allow them to take Kakashi’s Sharingan. But the other part…
“Ah, that bad, really?” He gave a nervous chuckle. “You don’t have to tell me what happened, but I’m probably gonna hear about it soon, news travels fast in the Uchiha district.” Shisui began packing his bag, ready to return to his normal duties.
Obito gave the kid a judgmental stare, “Thanks, that’s really comforting.” He rolled his eyes with a small laugh.
They waved goodbye, leaving Obito lying on his back looking up at the sky, left only with his own damn thoughts.
He just got back from a long mission in Kirihagakure. The plan was to go to that meeting, ignore the bullshit they spout, and then enjoy his day. Maybe spar with Kakashi and Rin, then go out to eat with them. Or play around somewhere somehow, anything mildly fun. Everything's fun with them.
But now it feels like a blanket of stress was pressed over him, like he couldn’t do anything until he diffused this ticking time bomb forced on him. Well, apparently that bomb has been ticking for a while.
Thankfully, he wasn’t alone for long; he felt a familiar set of footsteps approaching and a pleasant chakra wave.
“You alright, Obito?” A sweet voice called down to him, a twinge of genuine concern in her lighthearted question.
His eyes fluttered open to see a pleasant face, soft brown hair, and purple markings on her cheeks. The first person to be his friend.
Obito covered his eyes and groaned as Rin sat down beside him. “Not really.”
She laughed, “Yeah, I could tell.” She gave him a small punch on his shoulder, with no real force behind it. “Go easier on poor Shisui. He doesn't like to say when he’s hurt.” She sighed.
“I’m married.”
“What?”
The words kind of slipped out of his mouth; he hasn’t really processed it either, but he really should’ve come up with a plan or something, considering how strange the situation is. But cmon, what is he supposed to do? It's Rin; he can tell her literally anything. Plus, even if he doesn't tell Rin everything, she just seems to know when something's on his mind. Honestly, out of all his options for asking for help, she’s the best he’s got.
“At the Uchiha meeting today, I found out I’m married.”
Rin looked down at him and immediately yanked him up by the shoulders, shaking him back and forth as she interrogated him. “What? Like an arranged marriage? Do you even know who it is? They can’t make you marry someone you don't want to.”
“It’s not someone I don't want to! Well, it's not like I want to marry them, but I don't not want to? I- uh.” His eyes looked for anything to avert his gaze. For some reason, it’s gotten really hard to breathe.
“That's not what I mean. What I'm saying is I was given an ultimatum, and that was the best option.”
“Who is it? What ultimatum? This is crazy!” She was becoming more frantic, and a mix of shock and confusion was splayed across her face. “You get to choose who you want to marry, not pick from an ultimatum.”
He couldn’t help but look away from her. It sounds ridiculous. They’ve been friends forever and have gone through so much together. Hell, she has a demon inside her, and he is a half-dead person who met the Uchiha Grim Reaper. But for some reason, explaining how he met Madara in the hospital was so much easier than trying to explain this.
It’s not a normal thing; it's taboo, obviously, especially in the Uchiha district and clans, where preserving the lineages' power is important. But it’s probably been done before, however that works. It's just not a thing… normal people think about. No! Not like normal, but like most, especially not something he would think about or want. But old man Madara did talk a lot about Hashirama, even when not prompted, so it’s not like…
Damnit! he’s losing it.
A sort of bubbling feeling came back to his chest as he felt his face heat, burying it in his hands. Obito finally spat it out, “Kakashi.”
What the hell was he even getting so embarrassed over? This wouldn't be an issue if the clan just dropped it; he could have just moved on with his day, but Fugaku just had to make him choose. And clearly, he didn't expect the choice Obito actually made, so now they're both paying for it.
“Huh? But Rin tilted her head in confusion.
“It’s because I gave him my eye, apparently, that's an old Uchiha proposal or something. Either I take his eye back, or we get married, that's what Fugaku told me.” Obito continues to use his palm to cover his mouth, averting his gaze from the woman in front of him.
A silence fell between them as his childhood friend began to process the new information. Unfortunately, she didn't offer any of the helpful advice she usually gives. She giggled, small at first, until she burst out laughing, unable to stop herself in order to get a word in.
“Please help, I don't know what to do.” Obito buried his head in his hands as she continued to laugh.
Finally, she regained her composure and swiped a tear from her eye, “I just can't believe how far you two have come. I always had to do something so you two would stand in the same room as each other, and now...” She trailed off as Obito unburied his red face from his hand.
“Does he know yet?”
Obito shook his head. “Don’t tell anyone, please,” pleaded in a pathetic voice.
“Of course I won't,” She patted him on the head. “Like, will there be an actual wedding?”
“I don't know.” He hugged his knees close. How would that even work? Isn’t a big part of the wedding going to be skipped anyway because they're both orphans, like the whole getting the parents' blessing thing?
She gave a small laugh, “You should tell him soon, don’t avoid it.” She poked at Obito, who finally met her gaze again.
“Don’t you… think it’s strange, though?”
Rin held up his gloved hand, “I guess, but it's strange hearing you say that, you’ve always been strange, this team has never been normal. This is one of the calmer things that's ever happened to us.”
She’s not wrong, Madara Uchiha, Jinjuriki, old Uchiha secrets, deaths, lots of death, they’ve been through a lot. Still doesn't make it any less embarrassing though.
“You might see it differently, too. I know Uchiha's parents didn't really raise you, but you still lived in the district your whole life, and I think stuff like that is treated differently there.” Rin paused for a moment, attempting to collect her words, “Clans with Kekkei Genkei want their members to have children, so stuff like this is treated differently.”
“Trust me, it’s less strange than you think.”
“Can I crash at your place tonight? I really don’t want to go back to the Uchiha district tonight.
Despite Rin’s advice, he didn’t immediately tell his friend what was going on; he wasn’t exactly procrastinating, but it took him a while to gather up the courage. It's hard to go up to anyone and tell them, hey, I’m sorry, but we’ve been married for a long time, my bad for not telling you!
“I don’t know why you ask when you just invite yourself in anyway.”
Obito was completely sprawled on Kakashi's floor, rubbing his eyes in exhaustion. It’s something he likes to do often, invade his space just to hang out. Kakashi tends to be too lazy to kick him out, and it’s pretty hard to prevent him from getting inside, even if he tried, with Kamui and all.
Kakashi lay on his bed reading, seemingly prepared to sleep that night. “Did something happen in that meeting?”
“Yeah, and I don't want to get berated about it by stepping into the Uchiha district so that I might be hanging here for a few days.”
Kakashi hummed in response, “Why not stay in Kamui? We do have a whole dimension to ourselves.”
“Are you really trying to kick me out to Kamui? It's definitely cool to have, but I don't want to live there; it looks pretty sad. Your apartments are a lot cozier. It’s nicer here with you in it.”
Kakashi didn’t respond; instead, Obito could only hear the page of his book flip. He must’ve read the same book about 4 times already. They stayed like that for a while. He would honestly be happy with that on a normal day; he liked being in the same space as Kakashi.
But not today, he sighed, staring up at the ceiling. Fuck it, he's just going to have to do it.
Do you like, have your eye on anyone right now? Obito ran his hands through his hair, clearly nervous, "romantically, I mean.”
“No?”
“Good, yeah, that's good.”
Kakashi looked up from the ‘book’ he was reading (porn probably), raising an eyebrow with a small, mocking chuckle, “Good?” Why is that good?”
“Well, I think it would be bad if my husband had relationships with other people, wouldn’t it?” A painful and humorless laugh slipped out of his chest. He spoke quietly as if he knew the joke wouldn't land.
“I’m your what?”
“My husband, you have been for the past 8 years.”
Kakashi, now fully paying attention, leaned on his side to look down at Obito from his bed. “What are you saying?”
Obito leaned on his side to look up at Kakashi from the floor. About to speak, but the words got caught in his throat as he saw his friend. White hair, down and slightly messy, looking down at him with sweet dark eyes and a slightly pink tint to his cheeks. He was beautiful, really; it made him jealous more than once. Even with that mask on, anyone can tell he’s pretty, like in an almost unreal way. That was an objective fact; he had actually talked with Rin about it before, a few times too many.
He stared at the face for a long time, looking at the scar that covered a red eye, a Sharingan, and apparently a proposal vow.
“At the clan meeting, I was told it’s an old Uchiha law that if a Uchiha gives their Kekkei Genkei away, it’s a form of marriage, you know, old clan stuff. Apparently, I've been able to avoid it in the past, but today I was given an ultimatum: take your Sharingan away or marry you, and I feel like what I would want is pretty obvious.” He gave a nervous laugh, closing his eyes only to open them to a very shocked and distressed Kakashi, unlike the monotone expression that donned his face earlier.
“I know you don’t really want to get married to me, and I don’t want to stain your reputation or anything-”
“Slow down, if it’s an old Uchiha law, wouldn’t you usually ignore it?”
Obito groaned, feeling his face flush again before turning to look away, “We have been for the past 8 years, and Fugaku's probably going to make a ruckus about it, but I think long-term it means we have to find a way to get divorced when you find the woman you want to be with.”
An awkward silence fell over the two, each trying to figure out what to say.
“Don't-”
“I-”
“Uh, sorry, you go first.”
Fuck, this was awkward.
“Don’t worry about me, I...” Kakashi took a deep, contemplative breath. “I don’t think I’ll find a woman anytime soon, but what about you?” He was leaning over now, propped up on his elbows, looking down at his now husband.
“You kiddin' me? You could go up to practically any woman in this village, no, any woman ever, and they’ll swoon over you instantly.” Obito picked up a spare slipper and tossed it at Kakashi, who caught it with ease. “Are you really that picky?”
Despite his attempts to tease, his friend kept the same look on his face, waiting for a serious answer, a hard face to confront, so he averted his eyes. “Well, I’m not looking for someone right now exactly.”
“But you will one day, won't you? Do you really want me to burden you for the rest of your life?
“Don’t be an ass and phrase it like that. Of course, I want you by my side the rest of my life. I wanted to be with you even in death; that's the whole reason we’re even in this situation.”
He turned back to face his friend, but was turned away, staring intently at a blank wall, hiding his face. Obito sighed and crawled up the side of the bed, resting his forearms and head on the mattress while the rest of his body hung off.
“I can find a wrap around probably, it just depends on how much time you give me, like if you're falling for a girl, you gotta tell me, so I can start fighting those old Uchiha pricks, because right now I feel like ignoring it.”
Kakashi rolled back to lie with his chest towards the ceiling, “I promise you this isn’t about me. What about you?”
“Hey, I chose this!”
“You had two options, and one of them is something you've been absolute about for a while.”
“I mean, it's not like, actually anything really, it's just some law stuff, I bet if I make it look like I'm going through with it, they’ll drop the bullshit, they told me I’m supposed to ‘produce heirs’.”
Kakashi shifted back, turning to him and opening both of his eyes. He’s never said this to anyone, but he always liked seeing Kakashi with his Sharingan; it was like proof of their camaraderie, proof of that vow they made together. It was something that meant more than just power; it carried a moment that shaped both of them into who they truly are.
But with all that happening now, he felt something knot in his stomach as he looked at it; it was hard to describe, but it was a warm radiance spreading throughout his chest. It was just some bullshit rules, but it still meant he and Kakashi were like a pair, tied together ever since that day, like it was fate Obito would return.
“Don’t you want children, though?”
Of course, the pervert who reads books about making children all the time would ask that.
He gave a nervous laugh, clearly caught off guard by the question. “Well, it’s a bit early to think about that, don't you think? But I suppose I would want some eventually.”
“It's fun being able to see Kushina raise Naruto.” He just started the ninja academy, actually. Obito ran his fingers through his hair, “And Sasuke too, so maybe I guess.”
“What about you? You know, like Hatake clan stuff.”
“I don’t know either”
It was strange talking to Kakashi about this stuff. They tell each other almost everything, and he rambled on to him about things he’d rather not know. It shouldn’t feel strange, but that fact didn’t stop it from feeling that way.
“I don’t think I want it the way Fugaku wants it. I don’t want to have kids just for the bloodline advantages and things like that; if I did, I wouldn’t mind, like, a Genin team or something. I think that would be fun.”
…
“Yeah”
Obito leaned over to get closer to Kakashi, “So you're fine with this? J-Just for now! Just don’t marry anyone else soon until I figure this out.”
Kakashi turned his head towards Obito's; they’re always close in training, fighting, and bickering, but for some reason, it's really starting to hit him right now.
“I already told you, I don’t mind it at all. You’ll fall for a woman before I do. When that happens you'll figure things out.”
“What the-... Why would you assume I will fall first?”
“I just know Obito.”
