Play With My Emotions

Summary:

Kontorōru Etsuko is a student at UA. She has, arguably, one of the most powerful quirks. You could also argue that it has no 'battle usage', but that's BS. Her quirk is complete control over everyone's emotions.

Join my smol bean as she becomes the best superhero ever. Because really, she never has to fight anyone.

Notes:

I don't really know where this is going but ehh. Tell me if you like it so I can continue it without feeling stupid.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter 1: Hello

Chapter Text

"Hello! I'm Kontorōru Etsuko, an aspiring UA student!" I say to the person standing next to me. "I mean, obviously, because I'm here and all and-" My speech bubbles get the 'mutter mutter' outline, as my meta senses tell me. "Anyway, hi! You can call me Etsu, or Suko if you want. Can we be friends?"

The green-haired kid next to me just stands frozen. A pink color I had only seen from couples materialized around him, though much lighter. Wait. Crap. That's love. Or probably a crush, as this was my first time talking to the teen.

It's probably in my best interest to act like I can't see that. As I'm about to do something, he starts to do something, and we run into each other. And both trip. Some other person tries to grab my arm, but it's too late. Or not, apparently.

My mind says I should be on the floor. I've learned not to trust my mind. It's usually a pretty big asshole. Every other rational system in my body rights itself as I look at the person who hit my arm. It's a short girl with light-brown hair done in some weird style. The kid I was trying to make friends with is also floating, so she must have used her quirk. Actually, I don't have to guess about that. I can see the color of a quirk radiating off all three of us in waves, and it is definitely not the greenette. (Is there even a name for that? I'm gonna go with greenette.)

By the way, I have named the color of quirks iro. No one else can see it, so I don't see the point in giving it a more original name then 'color'. {1} Every emotion or feeling has a color. There are many, like sleepiness (navy-ish thing), but iro is my favorite. It's beautiful.

The girl smiles at us. "Whew! I'm glad I caught you in time."

I do an awkward laugh and smile back. "Yeah. Thanks." Trying to stand up, the other kid has somehow turned upside-down. Being a good friend, I flip him over. Aaaand everything is colored embarrassment. Great.

"But really, thanks. I'm Kontorōru Etsuko. Since we're friends now I guess, you can call me Etsuko." Surprisingly, I'm still upright. Points for house Etsuclaw. {2}

The girl seems surprised at the informality, but agrees anyway. {3} "Okay! I'm Uraraka Ochako." She then seems to realize that we're floating still. "Oh! Sorry, sorry. Release!" Me and the greenette fall to the floor, both standing. He seems okay now. If you ignore the pink and tan hovering around him.

"Crap. Everybody, run!" I say as the bell rings. As we run, the kid introduces himself as Izuku Midoriya. The kanji could be read as 'deku'. I think. I'm gonna call him Deku.

When applying for UA, you have to fill out a 'quirk description' box. Someone obviously realized that my quirk wouldn't work against robots and therefore I would fail the test, even though I could win without actually hurting anyone against real people. At least, that was what I hoped they would tell me when I got called to a 'private conference' in this year's classroom.

Apparently, I was right. Thank god.

The principal, an... animal of some kind was there as well as my teacher, Shouta Aizawa. Or Eraserhead. {4} As I look around the room, I notice someone else. A skinny man with long blonde hair and a sallow face. He reminds me of someone.....

"Hello, Kontorōru. As you should have figured out, your quirk wouldn't be possible to use in the test we have set up for our other students. We have decided to let you test it here because we feel you will make a fine hero." The principal, who is sitting on a desk in the front of the room, tells me.

"Thank you for the opportunity, sensei." I smile. Their emotions are hidden well. On their faces at least. To me, they're all easily visible. Aizawa is bored and tired, so gray and some blue. The principal is politely interested, but nothing more. The other man's mind is obviously elsewhere. If he would look me in the eyes, I could see more.

The animal-thing nods. "I trust you, so I might as well tell you. That blonde man is All-Might. In a weakened form." Without giving me any time to process that, he continues. "You'll have three tests. One: control All-Might's emotions to what we give you. Two: accurately read those two's emotions. Three: As we know you can achieve an actual mind-reading/mind-control state if you wish, I want you to interrogate a captured villain.

"We will test you on number three after school lets out, so please stay after. The first two will be done now."

Time to put my quirk to the test. I will not lose.

Notes:

NOTE: MY OTHER STORY WILL NOT BE INTERRUPTED BY THIS ONE. STOLEN COLORS IS FIRST PRIORITY RIGHT NOW.

1: 'iro' literally means 'color' in Japanese.

2: Yes I made a Harry Potter reference. Get over it.

3: In Japan, referring to someone by the first name without any honorifics signifies closeness and comfort with each other. Telling someone you've never met to call you by your first name would be strange. Etsu-chan gives no shits.

4: I don't know. Eraser Head? EraserHead? Eraser-Head?
