Chapter Text
Two Time awoke in their bed to an annoying beeping sound, known as their alarm of course. With a sleepy groan, they sat up, mashing the buttons on the device until the noise finally stopped. They tugged off the covers, moving their legs off of the bed, and standing up. Static seemed to fill their head as they stumbled over to their bathroom, it seemed they stood up too fast.. They flicked on the light switch, their figure distorted in the mirror from the ‘static’ that filled their vision.
The silhouette cleared into shape as their mind cleared. They got dressed and ready with haste, excitement fueling their steps as they awoke more, as they remembered their agreement to meet up with Azure. They headed to the familiar structure of the temple of their god. The mud beneath them squelched as they trotted closer to their destination, the humid weather and overhead gray clouds promised another spring rain. A distant figure was visible at a distance, the familiar witch-like hat indicating it was Azure, waiting on them.
Two Time’s tail swished as they saw their lover, breaking into a run towards him.
“Timey!!” Azure stood there, reaching out his arms as two crashed into him, wrapping their arms around him.
After a good minute hug, Azure pulled away, walking with them inside of the familiar building. They both went their separate ways, each bidding adieu. Two Time made their way to their mentors room, pondering on what they’d be taught today.
After their teachings, which were just recap of prayer, and worship, like usual, they met up with Azure. Azure was standing near a tree nearby, gently smiling at them as they approached.
“Hello, Two!” He said enthusiastically, as they both planned to go visit and hangout at the nearby nightshade field.
Two Time and Azure both made their way to the familiar scenery, the trees rattling from the light breeze. The scent of the floral, damp earth washed over them both as they approached the clearing. Two Time took in a deep breath, taking in the fresh air, as it always cleared their mind and brought tranquility when they needed it. The small purple flowers soon came into view, the plant coating over the soil like a blanket. Vines intertwined each other, dotted with purple flowers all over the secluded space, wildflowers sprouting between other plants.
“I..I still can’t get used to the sight..”
Azure spoke, breathtaken, his gaze raking over the scenery. Two Time looked up at him, amused by his expression of awe, lightly tugging his hand towards the tree they always leaned against. They both sat down, their hands interlocked with each other, like usual for them. They looked up, dark clouds surfed the sky, looking as if they could break out in a rain at any moment. Two Time leaned their head against his shoulder, his scent comforting.
“..I love you..”
Azure stated, resting his head on theirs, wrapping an arm around his partner and closing his eyes.
“I love you too.” They replied. A fuzzy, warm feeling in their stomach formed as they nuzzled against him. They knew neither of them were supposed to be doing this, as relationships weren't allowed unless ‘chosen’ by the spawn. Thinking about it replaced their warmth with a worrying knot in their stomach.
“Azure?” They started, although hesitating to speak of such a subject, not wanting to ruin the mood.
“Mm?”
“Do you ever think..will the others ever find out about us..?” They uttered, not daring to look up at Azure.
He went silent for a moment, before sighing.
“It’s..a possibility, but.. As long as I can see you..y’know..” He muttered, his grip slightly tightening. “But what's the worst that could happen?” He retorted, trying to bring the mood back up.
Two Time’s mind then wandered to the countless, gruesome ways their group would punish them both..it made them sick to their stomach thinking about it.
“Hey..it’ll be alright..I wont let anything happen between us.” Azure softly said to them, rubbing their back comfortingly. They nodded, deciding to focus on the moment instead of dwelling on the future.
Their gaze rested on the swaying trees, the wind sweeping over the clearing and the surrounding area. Their eyes landed on what seemed like a figure, a shadowy appearance that stood in the shade of the trees. Though the figure was gone in what seemed as the same second it appeared, as if it had noticed they spotted it. Squinting, Two Time tried to seek out the figure again, nearly holding their breath in anticipation. Azure hadn’t seemed to notice, so they shoved the sight to the back of their mind.
I must be seeing things.. They reassured themselves.
A wet sensation on their nose made them flinch, another following, then another, dark circles appearing on their clothing. It had started raining.
“Ah..it’s raining..” Azure stated, looking around, the pattering sound quickening its pace. Two Time thought about where to go.., Their house would be too far, the church was likely closed..
“We could stay at my place, perhaps..” He spoke up, waiting for a response from them. They quickly recalled the risks. Someone could see them together, or maybe one of the members would wander to their house and notice them missing..
“Time?”
Azure’s voice snapped them out of their thoughts.
“Oh- yeah that's fine.” Two Time replied.
Nothing will happen..right? They pondered as he led them towards his cabin. The rain got heavier, dampening both of their clothes in the process.
Azure opened the door to the cabin, holding it open and stepping to the side for them to enter. The inside looked comfortable, a couch, table and tv in the living room, and to the far left a kitchen, and to the right a hallway, probably to bedrooms.(obviously.) The home was neatly cleaned, and decorated nicely, with different species of plants placed on shelves.
I should have expected such, he loves botany after all.. They thought as they looked at the many related items..Books, study items, pictures..
He beckoned them to the couch, sitting down and patting the spot next to him. Sitting down, they fidgeted awkwardly with their clothing, they hadn’t been here before afterall.
“No need to feel anxious, make yourself at home.” He had seemed to notice their behavior. “I trust you not to break anything, just let me know if you need anything, speaking of- are you hungry? Or thirsty??” He’d known that they oftentimes forgot to take care of themselves, Azure or other members often reminding them. “No thank you.” Their mouth forming in a slight smile at his concern. “Do you want to do anything in particular, then?” He asked. As they were about to speak, a loud crackling sound boomed outside, followed by a bright flash of light, startling them. “Or..maybe a hug?” He suggested, knowing they weren't very fond of thunder storms.
“..sounds good.” They didn’t like getting help from others, but they couldn't lie, being in their partners arms was one of their most desirable places to be in right now. Azure held out his arms for them as they crawled over to him, laying their head against his chest as he wrapped his arms around them. He shifted into a more comfortable position, laying back on the couch, Two Time’s arms going around his waist. They let out a soft whine as he ran his fingers through their hair, holding them close. They nuzzled against him, his comforting warmth making them tired..
And before they both knew it, they each fell asleep holding each other.
Little did Two time know what was coming the following day
