Cleaning the house was a hard job. I got paid well, but that didn’t cover the fact that now I was away from everything I knew.
I’d lived in Berlin my whole life, and though I didn’t miss it, or have anybody there to miss, it’s still hard to adjust.
I was cleaning Gretel’s room, not that it needed cleaning.
She just likes demanding me to do things for her.
When I was carefully cleaning around her dolls, she came back in.
“You better not be touching them.” She said, reaching up and straightening them.
“I am not touching them, I assure you.” I told her.
She scoffed. “It sure seems like you were.” She turned, walking back out of her room again. Her blonde pigtails bounced as she went. “You better be done when I get back.”
I didn’t reply, just watched her leave.
