Work Text:

"Listen, Nari, you're a good soldier and a better pilot. But you just dont show me any respect. I am sick and tired of you challenging my authority. I am your superior. You should follow my orders without question. Got that?"" Dave's harsh tones cut through the air like knives.

Nari's words were equally sharp. "I'll start showing you respect when you deserve it, sir. So far all i see isnt a man worthy of my respect, but a idiotic supervisor whos in over his head and needs to learn his place."

Zila was fed up with this. First, Dave barged into their apartment uninvited. And now he had the nerve to take that tone with Zila's girlfriend.

And if you take one lesson away from this fic, it is to never mess with Zila's girlfriend.

Zila calmly picked up a frying pan that she hadn't put away before Dave showed up unannounced. She hefted it in her hand. It had a good weight to it. She picked it up and swung it at full force towards the back of Dave's head.

A loud clang resonated in the small room and Dave dropped instantly, blood pooling by his head, leaving Nari to stare horrified at Zila.

"Zila, dear, you know i love you, but what the actual fuck?" Zila replied calmly, as she always did. It was one of the things that Nari loved about her.

"He was bothering you. Has been bothering you and his other subordinates for some time." She knelt down to check for a pulse. There was none to be found. Nari immediatley started panicking.

"Oh my god i killed my supervisor. What do i do?" She began pacing anxiously as Zila formulated a plan. Eventually, Zila placed a calming hand on Nari's shoulder, which stopped her movements.

"Listen. If we're smart about this, nobody will need to know what happened. Remember that power outage in this wing 23 days ago? The station staff still has not been able to get the security cameras online. Anything that we do will be unable to be verified. Do you still have that bottle of whiskey?" Nari nodded.

"I was saving that for a special occasion." Zila cracked a rare smile.

"This occasion is as special as any. Now, take one of the syringes from out medkit and use it to inject the whiskey into his bloodstream." Nari shuffled around, eventually sticking the syringe in Dave's arm and releasing it's load of alcohol. Zila started preforming CPR on him.

"So his heart can beat and mix the alcohol into his bloodstream." After about a minute of CPR, Zila got up and poured some of the whiskey down Dave's throat. She poured out what remained in the bottle into two glasses until about an eighth of it remained.

Nari picked up Dave by his arms, and Zila took his legs. Together they staggered out of the apartment and down the hallway, past rows of apartments untill the walls opened up to a catwalk overlooking some machinery and crates. It was about a 15 feet drop to the bottom.

Nari and Zila carried Dave down the nearest flight of stairs to the the bottom. Nari smeared some of his blood on the edge of a crate while Zila laid him down in a spread-eagled position. They walked back up to the stairs, where Zila lobbed the bottle of whiskey down. It shattered next to Dave's hand.

Nari grinned at Zila, who smiled back.

"It looks like he was drunk and fell over the railing."

"That was the intention. Now, let's head back and enjoy that whiskey i set aside earlier." Zila intertwined her fingers with Nari's as the couple walked back to their apartment.

Once they stepped inside and had cleaned up all evidence of the... incident, Zila retrived the glasses of whiskey. She raised hers up.

"To Dave, who will most certainly be going to the underworld." Nari giggled.

"To Dave." They clinked glasses and took a sip of the alcohol. Zila could feel its dangerous heat rushing through her veins. They countinued sipping from their glasses, moving to the one worn couch in their apartment.

By this time, the alcohol had done its job. Zila felt lighter than air as she gazed fondly at her girlfriend. She drained the last drop of her whiskey, then stood up and fiddled with the radio until a jazz station came on.

"Come on, let's dance!" Nari looked startled.

"D-dance? Now?"

"You always wanted to teach me how!"

"You know what? We hid a body. One little dance can't be too hard." Nari grabbed Zila by the waist spinning her around. Zila responded by twirling Nari's arm over her head. They spun in perfect unison to the beat of the music, movements getting more intense as the song reached its climax.

Nari skillfully spun Zila around and dipped her low to the ground, kneeling down until their faces were barely two inches apart. The song finished, and a slower number came on as the two lovers looked deep into each other's eyes.

Zila had never seen Nari like this. Breathing heavy from the exertion, cheeks red with heat from the whiskey and their close proximity. Zila slowly moved her lips upward till they met Nari's, and the two indulged in a soulful, passionate kiss. They both stood up from their positions, grinning madly at the love that coursed like a red hot river between them.

"I love you." The words were spoken quietly, tenderly. Nari had heard those words many times before, but never like this.

"I love you too." The couple shared a soft smile before Nari broke the silence.

"Come on, lets get to bed. We've both had a long day." An arm around Zila's shoulders let Nari guide her partner to their bed, where they climbed under the sheets together.

Nari kissed Zila on the cheek, then started spooning her, remembering Zila's complaints that they set the air conditioning too high. Zila sighed and settled into Nari's embrace, satisfied.

And Dave's corpse kept its silent vigil long into the night.

Notes:

I loved writing this bit of dark fluff! Nothing gets me more in a romantic mood than murder! (If my actual partner is reading this, i did not mean that seriously.)
