That night was filled with laughter and loud chatter from outside, fireworks painted the night sky, filling it with bright colours.
The Time Photo Studio was just as loud, chatter filled the air, Cheng Xiaoshi went on and on about his past studies, and Qiao Ling berating him for being so loud. Lu Guang was the only quiet one, sipping on some red wine he had bought earlier that day. He was quite tipsy, blushing lightly.
“Lu Guang? Did you have too much to drink? Aiyah! The clock hasn't even hit 12 yet!” Cheng Xiaoshi snatched the drink away, sipping the last drops of the expensive wine.
“But—” Lu Guang couldn't continue his sentence, getting cut off by a firework exploding in the background.
“Quiet! We're 5 minutes from midnight!” Qiao Ling snapped. The sound of fireworks setting off became more frequent as they neared midnight.
Suddenly, Cheng Xiaoshi had a great idea to take a group photo, pulling both of them closer. Qiao Ling grimaced at first, but at the sight of the camera, her expression softened, making a big heart with both of her hands.
Lu Guang, on the other hand, was still drunk, he was still processing whatever just happened, not even bothering to pose or look in the right direction.
“Lu Guang! What are you doing? Look at the camera!” Cheng Xiaoshi turned his head to the side, and unexpectedly, Lu Guang had also turned his head to face him.
Cheng Xiaoshi's eyes widened when he realized, pulling back in a panic, accidentally hitting Qiao Ling in the process.
They had kissed! How did that happen!?
Lu Guang froze, he couldn't move, staring at Cheng Xiaoshi who was backing away. Qiao Ling looked like she was going to murder him for pushing her.
“Cheng Xiaoshi!” she hissed, pulling his ear. “Ow, ow! Okay, okay! I get it now! I'm sorry! I—”
“You better explain!” Lu Guang tried to intervene, “He accidentally kissed—”
The sound of fireworks setting off came non stop, Qiao Ling couldn't hear anything other than the fireworks, she could only make out the words “he” and “kissed”
“What are you saying!? Kissed who!?” Lu Guang's blush deepened at the question, Qiao Ling stared at him, putting the pieces together. Oh..
“You—” Cheng Xiaoshi cut her off. “Please don't talk about this!! Forget it!”
Suddenly she laughed, elbowing Cheng Xiaoshi’s shoulder, “What was that for!?” He asked, Qiao Ling glared at him, “What else could that be for idiot!? Now, go apologize!”
“Why should I be the one apologizing!?” Qiao Ling sighed at her brother's stupidity. “Are you stupid!?”
The siblings banter continued throughout the night, while Lu Guang picked on his food, looking at anything but him.
Well, that was one way to start the New Year's.
