Chapter Text
It was still early in the morning but Yoona was already up doing her usual routine before going to school. Forcing herself to be awake.
"Good morning Yoona" her mom said with a smile "Are you gonna eat breakfast today or not?" she asks.
"I'll eat something light Mom, thanks" Yoona replied as she sat down at the dinner table.
"Gonna bring your guitar again?" her mom asked with a chuckle while placing some toast with eggs and bacon for Yoona.
"Yeah, as always" Yoona responded with a smile and nod "Thank you for the food"
"Always welcome. Oh! And by the way, bring your sister her lunch, she forgot it again since she said she'll go to school early to work on some last minute deadlines. I swear that girl always forgets her food, luckily your other sister's punctual as always. The exact opposites of each other." her mom added with another chuckle
"Alrighty will do, I'll head out now mom" Yoona acknowleged while picking up her guitar and her sister's lunch.
"Take care!" her mom shouted as she went out.
"C'mon Haewon, i swear they're always at the rooftop at this hour just playing the guitar! That person plays the guitar so well and i wanna meet them, and maybe persuade them to join the band!" Lily nearly shouted as she dragged Haewon along the hallway and stairs just to go up to the building's rooftop.
"But don't we already have a guitarist? Me? Am i not enough for the band?" Haewon clarified with a pout which just made Lily giggle
"You're enough! I just think another guitarist would sound even better that's why" Lily reassured Haewon's guitar skills, Haewon just kept pouts at her and Lily smiled while pinching Haewon's cheek playfully.
"Do you even think Jinsol wants a new member? You do know she doesn't like the idea of new people joining our small band since she thinks it's already perfect" Haewon commeted as they almost reached the rooftop
"I know but i just wanna meet this person" Lily explained with a smile.
As they opened the door to the rooftop Lily already hears the guitar, soft strums and someone humming.
"Are you sure we're not interrupting this person?" Haewon whispered to Lily since they don't wanna startle the person playing the guitar
"We're not even making that much noise for them to notice us, they seem, deep in thought" Lily whispered back while listening to the strums.
"Maybe we should just go and meet them at lunch since you said that you can also hear them play during lunch time" Haewon suggested as she's slowly dragging Lily away "Plus, class starts soon too, i don't wanna be late again".
Lily looks at Haewon and looks at the time "Oh shoot you're right, it's almost time for class. I don't wanna be late to Mrs. Kang's class, she's a terror when things don't go her way" Lily replied almost panicking as she dragged Haewon downstairs, rushing to their first class and almost bumping to the students they pass through.
Yoona looks around the school rooftop and at the sky, with a sigh, she zips up her guitar "Another day, another boring class" she mutters to herself as she goes downstairs to her locker to put her guitar inside.
'Oh right, Xinyu's lunch. I'll just pass by her class later, i can just meet up with her and Nagyung when school's over.' Yoona thought to herself , almost forgetting her sibling's lunch as she walks to her first class, earphones in and she hums the song playing.
Lost in her own world while zoning out and walking, she didn't notice that she bumped into someone rushing to their class, the person just shot her a cold glare and just kept on running.
Staring at the person's back, she looked at the time wondering why the people around her are running and such. "Oh, no wonder they're in a rush" she mumbled to herself.
Yoona didn't mind if she's a little late to class, since even thought she's always late or asleep at class she always gets the highest score.
As she arrives at class, the teacher's already there not minding that she's late again since it's already a common thing that Yoona does. Mrs. Kang's class may scare some students since most of the time she's really strict but she doesn't mind Yoona cause she knows what kind of student Yoona is.
She looks around at class and noticed one student staring at her with a curious look on her face, Yoona looks away since she doesn't even know majority of her classmates since she doesn't have friends except for Kyujin.
But Kyujin isn't in this class so she literally doesn't know anyone, she sighs deeply and tries to focus on what Mrs. Kang's lesson, trying not to fall asleep while also avoiding that persons stare at her.
As time went by, Yoona's first class already ended, she woke up 15 minutes before it ended. As she sat up she immediately went out of class to go to one of her sister's class so she give Xinyu her lunch.
Lily just stared at Yoona again as she walked out of class "You know, did you ever notice Mrs. Kang get angry at her when she's late? Cause earlier Mrs. Kang just ignored her" Lily questioned Haewon as they were tidying up their stuff so they can go to their next class
"Mrs. Kang has favourites and you know that, maybe she's her favourite that's why she didn't mind her being late" Haewon stated while picking up her bag.
"Wait she has favourites? Are we bad at her class that's why she scolded us one time when we were late?" Lily reasoned with a slight panic in her voice and Haewon just laughed.
"Don't think about it too much, come on let's go to our next class to meet up with Jiwoo" Haewon said dragging a panicked Lily out of their first class.
"Still, i just noticed her today and we've been in this class for like what, four months now, looks like she doesn't have that much friends" Lily mumbled while walking with Haewon beside her "Maybe she's the type who doesn't want to have that many friends, unlike you Ms. Social Butterfly"
"Hey! At least i'm friendly!" Lily shots back at Haewon as she just laughs at Lily's reaction.
"Yeah sure, unlike our certain bassist who always gives everyone the cold shoulder" Haewon snickers as they see Jinsol at the hallway waiting for them at their lockers
"Don't let her hear you, you know how she doesn't like it when we tease her about her icy personality" Lily giggles at she looks at Jinsol and waves, Jinsol just stares and waves back a bit.
"Yo" Jinsol greets them with a sigh
"Something wrong Jinsol?" Lily asked
"It's nothing, i just bumped into another student earlier before class started, kinda just stared angrily at them since i was already late to my first class" Jinsol explained to Lily and Haewon and the two just looked at each other
"They didn't even say sorry for bumping into me" Jinsol added with irritation in her tone.
"Maybe because you stared at them coldly again and the person got scared" Haewon explained with a slight chuckle
"This is why everyone's afraid to approach you" Lily giggled at Haewon's reply while Jinsol just shook her head with a slight smile
"Not my problem that they weren't looking where they're going, plus I don't even like random people approaching me, remember?" Jinsol added as they're walking to their next class.
"Yeah we know but that doesn't mean you should always be cold to everyone Jinsol" Lily stated while looking at Jinsol and Haewon nods in agreement, they arrived at their next class and sat down next to Jiwoo, who's already at class waiting for them.
"You all seem deep in conversation" Jiwoo said as she looks at them sitting down next to her with curiosity in her eyes.
"It's just Jinsol being cold to someone again, as usual" Haewon replied while rummaging in her bag for the stuff she needs for the class.
"But Jinsol wasn't cold to me when we first met" Jiwoo suddenly blurted out and looked at Jinsol, but Jinsol just avoided eye contact at her pretending that she didn't hear what Jiwoo said.
As Yoona reached Xinyu's classroom she took a peek at the class's window to see if her sister's there or not 'Please be here and not at some random classroom again' Yoona thought since she doesn't wanna talk to people and ask where her sister is again since Xinyu often wanders around before her class starts.
Luckily for Yoona, her sister's just there chatting with her friends, she opened the class door and slowly walked inside while excusing herself with a quiet voice to the people inside.
"Unnie, you left your lunch again" she said as she approached Xinyu and put down the small bag at her sister's table
"Yoona! Oh sorry about that, had some deadlines to catch up again, I'll treat you next time when I'm free okay? Thanks for bringing it here" Xinyu smiled at Yoona and patted her head, Yoona just smiled a little and nodded
"I'll keep that in mind, you better keep your word this time! You're always so busy and you barely talk to me at home these days. And Nagyung Unnie's always busy with her classes too!." Yoona clarified with a slight pout, Xinyu just chuckled and hugged her sister.
"You guys are always so cute and close to each other, i envy you guys" Nakyoung suddenly interjected the two while looking at the sight of the two sisters hugging, the sisters just giggled at her
"My sister and i just swear at each other at home, but like, in a fun or joke way" Nakyoung said reassuringly since she doesn't want her sister to look like a bad sister and everyone just laughed, even Yoona giggled a little loud to the joke.
"Well, i am lucky that my sisters aren't annoying and cold" Xinyu smiled at Yoona "You better go to your class Yoona, it's on the other building right? Don't tell me you're slacking off again" Xinyu said eyeing Yoona.
Yoona just laughed and slapped her sisters playfully "Yah, I don't slack class! Have you seen my grades?" Yoona shot back and they both laughed.
"Alright alright i'm just kidding silly, now go before you're tardy or else Nagyung will scold you again" Xinyu said and hugged her sister one more time before she leaves her classroom.
"Does your sister not have friends?" Sohyun whispered to Xinyu as soon as Yoona left
"She has one friend, she doesn't talk to people much. But i do wish she makes friends this time, all she does is play music or guitar at one of the school's rooftop. I don't mind the music part since she has a pretty voice and has talent for the guitar, but I really hope she makes more friends." Xinyu said with a sigh while sitting down next to Sohyun, Sohyun just patted her back with a small smile.
"Maybe this time it'll be different, you'll never know" she smiled at Xinyu and Xinyu just smiled back.
As Yoona walks at the long hallways going to her next class she texted Kyujin asking if she's already at class.
Yoona : You at class now?
Kkyu : On my way there, had to buy some drinks at the nearby vending machine
Yoona : Wait for me at the stairs, had to go to Xinyu's class
Kkyu : Alrighty see you!
Yoona locked her phone and looked out the window while walking thinking what to do with her school life now since she's getting bored at school even though 4 months just passed.
Of course having high grades is good and all but she only has Kyujin as her only friend, Yoona doesn't know how to talk to people or introduce herself to others so she's thankful that Kyujin was the one who approached her first when school just started back then.
Since then she always just talks to Kyujin and if Kyujin isn't available or simply not at her classes she just listens to music or go to the rooftop, playing her guitar that she left inside her locker, strumming and humming or singing her favourite songs.
Sometimes she makes her own music but she keeps it to herself, even Xinyu, Nagyung and Kyujin doesn't know that she makes her own songs. She doesn't want anyone to know.
It's the only way she can let her thoughts out.
Sighing at herself, she goes downstairs and sees Kyujin, Yoona smiles a bit
"Yahoooo" Kyujin said smiling at Yoona "I got you a drink, went back to the vending machine get you one" Kyujin said showing Yoona a bottle of mango juice, Yoona took the bottle and smiled at Kyujin
"Thanks, I'll treat you next time then" Yoona replied and they walked to their next class.
Today Yoona's a little early than usual since she always goes to her classes late on purpose, but today she just wants to chat with Kyujin a bit.
"Xinyu unnie left her lunch again?" Kyujin asked while chuckling as she sat down next to Yoona
"Mhmm, Mom asked me to bring it to her, good thing Nagyung Unnie didn't forget hers or else i'll be running from the other side of the building again" Yoona replied with a slight giggle.
"Aunt Sana always looks out for you guys, that's sweet" Kyujin chuckled as she finished her drink
"Well, she just misses Mama" Yoona added while chuckling as the thought of her parents hugging and being all lovey dovey crosses her mind
"Aunt Tzuyu still hasn't come home yet?" Kyujin questioned and Yoona nodded
"Yeah, she comes home in a few days though, say's her business trip got lessened a few days" Yoona explained and Kyujin just nodded
"Tell your parents i said Hi, and tell Aunt Sana i miss her cooking" Kyujin said, she and Yoona just laughed.
"I'll tell them when i get home, Mom will literally annoy me to let you visit at home again" Yoona commented while opening her bag to get her notebook and Kyujin just laughed
"Don't worry, I'll visit when i have time" Kyujin stated, Yoona just giggled and shook her head a bit
"Sure, i believe you" and with one last chuckle and giggle the class started.
It's almost lunch time when Jinsol looked at her watch, and she looked at Haewon and Lily whispering to each other as always.
"Unnie, you gonna eat lunch today or skip it again?" Jiwoo asked her, whispering at Jinsol and Jinsol wasn't sure if she's in the mood to eat or not since she doesn't really want to talk anyone right now after their conversation earlier.
"Not sure, i'll just join when i want to i guess" Jinsol replied with a shrug as she went back to listening to their class.
"Remember to do your project, you can use any medium as long as it expresses yourself" their teacher, Mrs. Son announced to the whole class and with that, class is dismissed.
"Lunchhhhhhhhhhhh" Lily said happily as she and Haewon walked to Jinsol and Jiwoo's desks
"Let's goooooo and Jinsol you better come this time, i'll treat you lunch!" said Lily pleading and trying to force Jinsol "It's not fun without you!"
"But i barely talk whenever we have lunch together what do you mean it's not fun without me" Jinsol stated with a slight chuckle, Jiwoo and Haewon just laughed at the pouting Lily.
"C'mon now Unnie, she'll join us when she wants to" Jiwoo said trying to drag Lily away with a laughing Haewon beside her, Jinsol just looked at them with a small smile as they left the classroom.
Jinsol just sighed deeply at herself when she looked the her friends walk out, she grabbed her bag and went out of the class late to walk around campus.
As she went down the hallway she put her headphones on so she can just ignore people around her.
While walking she spotted someone carrying a guitar going up upstairs, Jinsol looked at her with curiosity but just shrugged it off and minded her own business, stuck in her own world with music occupying her thoughts.
But she saw someone catching up to the person with the guitar earlier, still somewhat curious she chose not to snoop around and follow them.
'Might as well still mind my business, that's their life' Jinsol thought to herself as she went out the building to stroll around the school grounds.
"Kyujin-ah, i didn't know you'll follow me today" a chuckling Yoona said as she saw Kyujin walking close to her at the bench at the school building's rooftop.
"I miss listening to you play the guitar Unnie, that's why" Kyujin said as she sat beside Yoona, both smiling at each other Yoona tunes her guitar
"I also bought you another drink" Kyujin placed the drink beside Yoona and Yoona just smiled and nodded as a thank you gesture.
"Not gonna eat lunch again Unnie?" Kyujin asked as she took a sip of her drink and unwrapped her sandwich.
"I'll eat when i get hungry don't worry" Yoona reassured as she starts to strum her guitar softly with a quiet hum while tuning it with Kyujin just listening beside her looking up the sky.
Yoona just closed her eyes while still strumming, letting the soft strumming of the guitar surround both of them.
"I'm telling you guys i'm not delusional or imagining things i swear, there's this person that plays the guitar at one of the school's buildings!" Lily said to them as they were eating lunch at the cafeteria
"But have you even seen this person?" Moon Sua, a friend of Haewon, asked Lily as she took a bite of her food
"Not yet! But me and Haewon were planning earlier before class but we got scared of Mrs. Kang since she scolds people that are late at her class" Lily explained and Sua just nodded and continued eating.
"But there is this one girl in class that she doesn't mind tardy" Lily pointed out and Haewon nodded in agreement
"She also came to class late earlier" said Haewon, both Jiwoo and Sua looked at her with curious eyes
"Do you know who she is? Since you all are in the same class" Jiwoo asked Haewon and Haewon shook her head
"Nope, she doesn't even talk in class. We don't even know her name, we just know she often goes to Mrs. Kang's class tardy or she doesn't attend at all" Haewon explained as she continued munching on her food.
"Well....That is weird that she doesn't get scolded at, but who are we to judge if a teacher has their favourites" Sua stated looking at the people around the school cafeteria and the group just hummed in agreement, continuing eating their lunch.
Jiwoo also looked around and saw Jinsol outside just wandering around, "Do you think Jinsol-unnie knows her?" Jiwoo suddenly asked as she looked at everyone
"Not even a chance, that girl stares daggers at everyone who looks at her" Haewon clarified and they all laughed in agreement since that is what Jinsol does whenever someone stares at her for too long.
"Is Jinsol okay these days? She still looks like she has a lot in mind" Sua asked looking at each one of them
"We can't really tell since she hasn't said any problems that she's currently facing with" answered Lily and Jiwoo just nodded while still looking outside.
They saw Ryujin approached Jinsol and both just left for a walk.
"Do you guys want me to talk to her?" Sua suddenly asked the group and they were confused as to why Sua would just suddenly asked something like that since they all know Sua isn't close to Jinsol.
"Are you sure you're not sick Sua?" Lily asked putting her hand on Sua's forehead to check her temperature and the others just laughed, even Sua chuckled
"No no i'm just worried since she barely hangs out with you guys on lunch" Sua explained "Plus Haewon was also getting worried" she added and both Lily and Jiwoo looked at Haewon, and she just looked away.
"Uhm...If you want to you can try and ask her" said Jiwoo as she looked at Sua, and Sua just smiled and nodded.
"I'll try to approach her when i see her then" and they all nodded and continued their lunch.
Yoona was putting her guitar in its case, while Kyujin was waiting for her to finish she looked down at the students, scanning each one of them like a cat looking at its prey. She spotted students just doing their daily stuff, one doing laps around the courtyard, some just talking on some benches, some reading or just listening to music.
Since it was still lunch time there's a lot of students just everywhere 'Maybe this is why Yoona-unnie prefers being alone at the rooftop since barely anyone comes up here' Kyujin thought to herself as she took a look at Yoona, already done and ready to go.
"Are you gonna stop by at Xinyu-unnie's class or Nagyung-unnie's class or not?" Kyujin asked as they walked towards the stairs
"Nope, they'll just ask if i had lunch and scold me if i said i didn't" they both laughed at what Yoona said imagining Xinyu and Nagyung lecturing her again and then telling their mom that she didn't have lunch again.
"But seriously Unnie, you should at least eat something" Kyujin added and Yoona just nodded
"I'll eat something later" she reassured as they went downstairs.
Kyujin saw the same short haired brunette as they reached the bottom floor, they both look at each other and the short haired brunette looked away first. Yoona didn't notice that they were staring at each other.
Kyujin just glanced at Yoona as they were walking back to their class, this time Yoona wasn't late again.
