Work Text:
Sanji spoiled you when you were big…why does it not surprise anyone when he spoils you even more when you’re little? It had something to do with his genuine love for you, and that side of him he only ever showed with you. The second you had gotten together, he stopped flirting with anyone else. You gave him a chance, and that was all he needed to direct all of his love towards you. He was even EXCITED when you told him you regressed, and took it as his chance to take care of you even more.
You were currently patting his shoulders while he cooked, hugging him and near whining for attention. He spun around, placing his head on top of yours and squeezed you tightly. “I’m sorry! I’m cooking right now, I promise we can play more later.” He sounded almost hurt, pleading with you to not be upset. He had a job to do, and as much as he’d love to drop everything and shower you with attention, he also knew everyone needed to eat. And there were very few people in the world he’d let take over his cooking, and none of those people were crew members.
You pouted at him, but he grinned when he got an idea. He scooped you up, and placed you on the counter a short ways away from the stove top. While he didn’t want you injured, he also knew he wanted to balance his focus on you and the food. It had you giggling, kicking your feet over the edge of the counter and grinning wide at him. The sight had his heart melting, and he leaned close to boop his nose against yours.
It only amused you further, and you patted his shoulders before wrapping your arms around him. “No, no, I promise we can play after we all eat, so I just gotta cook for a little while longer, okay my baby?” He said it with all the love in the world, and cradled your cheek in his hand for a moment before washing them again to resume cooking.
“Okay Papa!” You said, kicking your feet even faster at the thought of playing with him after dinner. A wide grin was on your face, and your mouth opened lightly while you watched him cook. He was good at it, and everyone knew it, but you didn’t often get to watch him cook from this close. Sanji even seemed to revel in the attention, and made a few extra steps in the process to keep you entertained.
He picked up a spoon to taste the meal, and blew on it a few times before lifting it to his lips before stopping to look at you. He anticipated your response, trying not to grin wide as you made grabby hands at him and whined. “Papa me first!” He leaned back, pretending he was about to taste it himself when he held out the spoon for you instead.
“You’re always first, and I’d have it no other way.” He said, and you could practically see the hearts in his eyes as you tried the food he fed you. The wide smile on his face only grew as you made an excited noise, eyes sparkling at how good it was. The food was always amazing, but it seemed to taste better when your Papa was the one feeding it to you.
You cheered, clapping and giggling as he got back to cooking. You let out another whine, and pouted. “More food Papa!” Making the expression and eyes at him that always made him crumble, he sighed and let out a chuckle.
“You know the rules, you can taste it once or twice but I can’t portion your food properly if you keep sneaking bites so much.” He laughed, and patted your head with a gentle smile. “Think of it…as a reward for being a good baby. If you let me cook and keep me company, I’ll even make you your own dessert for after the meal.” As he grinned, he couldn’t help but let out another chuckle when all your protests were forgotten at the mention of a dessert.
“Promise?!” You said, leaning closer to him with wide and excited eyes.
“Of course I promise. Have I ever lied to you?” He reached out and locked your pinkies, bringing it to his lips in a small kiss. It had you giggling, and cheering happily.
“Dessert! Dessert!” You cheered, and watched closely as he continued cooking. There were a few sentences here and there, but you seemed as wrapped up in watching him cook as he was in actually cooking. As it was almost done, he went to taste the food again.
He paused when you leaned closer, pouting avidly. “How come Papa can try but I can’t?” Your words were meant to be frustrated, but it sounded too cute for him to not laugh. He patted your head once more and tasted the food, letting out a pleased hum, exaggerating entirely.
You whined, and when you went to protest he put the spoon in your mouth. More laughter filled the kitchen, and he put the finishing touches on the crew’s dinner before setting it aside to stay warm.
“Hm…” he said, pretending to be deep in thought. “Should I make your dessert now? Or do we risk making it after for Luffy to have a chance to steal it?” He tapped his chin, struggling openly not to smile.
“Now! Now!” You said, looking almost horrified of your captain stealing your own special dessert. You patted his shoulder, as if trying to get his attention. “Bad Luffy! It’s mine!” A whine, and Sanji turned to kiss your forehead.
“You know I wouldn’t let that idiot steal it. So I suppose I’ll make it now.” He pointed at you, poking your cheek lightly. “But it stays hidden, and you can’t eat it until you’ve finished your dinner.” He reasoned, and it had you pouting but nodding since you knew it was fair.
He leaned close and wrapped his arms around you, sighing happily at the tender moment. “I love you so much.” Leaning back, he placed another kiss on your forehead that had you giggling. “I’d ask what dessert you want, but we both know the answer.” He chuckled, and immediately got to work.
It took far less time for dinner, since you were the only one getting dessert. If anyone protested, he’d make sure they’d not get another dessert from him until they apologized. Besides, he’d always make them more food. However sweet treats weren’t exactly required for nutritional health. They knew he made you desserts more often, and they all knew why.
And seeing your happy face when he took care of you and spoiled you?
It made him know that you were the only one for him. Rather you’re big and flirty, or little and affectionate. You were special, and if spoiling you helped you be sure of that fact, he’d never stop for the rest of your days. You were worth it, and he’d make sure you always knew that.
