Chapter Text
"…still sick?"
A soft voice cuts through the silence of the wee hours of the morning speaking in a concerned tone.
The exhausted groan that is let out a little too long is their response as a head full of blonde quills raises from out of the middle of the toilet seat. Ears are flattened and their black eyelids are clenching. Fingertips clutch the edges of the toilet seat for dear life when his world spins. Sharp teeth grind upon biting back a verbal reply. He's afraid that if he opens his mouth that he's only going to empty what little contents are left in his stomach…
Bright blue hedgehog ears flatten as their faceless head droops and arms cross. "Fleet… you should really see a doctor."
Eyebrows furrow with a scowl snarling across his muzzle. "I'm fine. It's just taking a little longer to get better is all…!" The young man protests weakly. Then he feels his stomach lurch before arms cling around the toilet bowl and he throws his head back into the middle of the seat. Ears perk up then pin back upon hearing the other hedgehog sighing. If he wasn't puking his guts up, he'd tell him to 'piss off!'.
"It's been several weeks now and you're not better." There's a pause from his roommate. That usually means he's mulling over his words carefully before deciding to speak them. "…I don't understand all this pointless stubbornness… What do you hope to gain by delaying this…?"
When Fleetway goes to open his mouth in hopes of snapping at End, does his phone (that'd been sitting face up on the bathroom floor) start vibrating followed with a special ringtone. That ringtone is assigned to his mum Pyjamas. "D-don't you f-fucking dare…!" He growls weakly at the other young man when he hears footsteps enter the room. If his world wasn't spinning he'd already be on his feet to scoop up his phone.
"I'm sorry, Fleet, but this is for you're own good."
Claws rake across the porcelain surface of the toilet bowl as a combination of anxiousness and rage twists in his stomach. Fleetway appreciates the sentiment, but oh how his ego was pissed!
"Fleety, dear, this is your mum. Hope I didn't wake you. The cards told me you'd be up at this hour."
Fleetway would never admit it out loud, but hearing either of his mum's voices (and those silly little nicknames) usually brought his mood up.
"Sorry Miss Pyjamas but this is End. Fleetway can't make it to the phone right now, but he is in fact awake."
Oh gosh how Fleetway wants to yell at his roommate telling him to 'shut the fuck up!'. He also wishes he was well enough to get up to snatch his phone back and lie about this all being a prank to his mum. But, alas, he is glued to the toilet so he has somewhere better to upchuck.
"My son's awake but can't make it to the phone…? Tell him to stop messing around and answer the phone!"
Her son lets out a combination of a sigh and a quiet chuckle. Of course she thought he was being a little shit…
End is quiet for a few seconds trying to process her reaction as well as how to respond. An almost black shade of dark blue of a finger scratches the side of his head nervously in doing so. "…the thing is, Miss Pyjamas, Fleet's sick. Been for a while now."
If he's physically capable of sweating more right now in his sickened state, Fleetway does so. Oh he was fucked! Well, his mums would check on him and make sure he'd get better, but oh the ear full he'd get from them…!
There's a heavy pause on the other end of the line. It lasts for a good minute or so, and End wonders if the line has disconnected.
"…oh. I see." The fur on Fleet's body spikes up in fear. "End, can you be a dear and unlock your front door? Me and Ebby will be over soon. Toodles."
The young man just stands there looking down at his roommate's phone still in the one hand. "…that went surprisingly well."
The flushing of the toilet fills the awkward silence before Fleetway flops onto the cold tiled floor throwing an arm over his eyes. "You're a fucking git." Having the coolness against his bare back feels nice as he just lays there waiting for the inevitable.
It's a little later when the front door slams open that has the two hedgehogs jumping in surprise. Hurried footsteps follow after the door is slammed shut. Two older effeminate voices can be heard alongside the footsteps. One is softer and calmer while the other is louder and ticked off.
"Maybe he's not as sick as we think he is, Jammie, and that's why he hasn't reached out to us…"
"Oh I betcha he is! Our Sunny is a stubborn one (just like me for better or worse…)!"
End makes sure to step out of the way so the two older women can barrel on through (that and he wasn't about to be trampled on or knocked over!). The first to stomp on in is an elderly looking dog Mobian with curly white hair covering her eyes. She's stout being a few good inches taller than End. "Does this look like he isn't that sick, Ebby??" Despite sounding upset, Pyjamas is immediately at her son's side.
The woman who follows after Pyjamas is a taller curvier black cat Mobian with striking emerald colored eyes. Her long arms cross as a reluctant sigh is heaved out upon her looking quite disappointed with the situation. That tail of hers swishes in little bursts of irritation.
Though she seems displeased with Fleetway, his mum doesn't hesitate to stroke his head quills before trying to get him off the bathroom floor. "Your head doesn't feel hot so you most likely don't have a fever, which is good."
Her son grumbles under his breath trying to weakly push her away. "I'm fine. I can help myself up…"
That has her laugh almost immediately in his face as she shakes her head and sighs. "Obviously not."
His other mum appears on his other side hooking an arm around his own. "Sunshine why would you let whatever ails you get this bad?" Ebony's tone is softer being full of concern as she talks.
Cheeks flush in embarrassment. The sunny colored hedgehog hardly enjoys worrying both of his mums like this.. "I-I thought it was nothing. That maybe the stress of college was keepin' me from getting better quicker." And that was the honest truth. Or, well, most of it. They didn't need to know that he was trying to be tougher than what he was… again.
Pyjamas's head rolls before shaking it again. Though they can't see them, Fleetway's pretty sure she had rolled her eyes. "Maybe if you learned to ask for help or know when to take it easy instead o' being stubborn, ya wouldn't be in this mess."
Blonde quills splay over the woman's shoulder upon her son resting the side of his head there when nausea hits him suddenly! "Mum, please. Don't kick me while I'm down…!" He whines against said shoulder.
Green eyes land on the other hedgehog who'd been standing off to the side silently. "We've got it from here, dear, why don't you rest up? Wouldn't want you to be tired for class in the morning, hm?"
The young man nods in agreement. "There's a bucket near the front door. I'm sure Fleet will need it." Is what he mentions before exiting the bathroom first.
"Thank you, dear!~"
Both older women holler at him before setting their sights back onto their son.
"Let's get you to the car so we can take you to the ER so we can figure out what's wrong with ya."
One of his hands gives her opposite shoulder a weak squeeze. He is thankful for his roommate for getting them here. Plus if anyone could help him get over whatever the hell is wrong with him, it's his mums.~
