Chapter 1: AHHHHHHHHHHHH, wait where are we.

Chapter Text

"Hey guys! Look at the bottomless pit!" Mabel shouted.

Dipper immediately rushed over, his curiosity taking over before his common sense could stop him. He stood beside his sister, looking down into the darkness.

But this time, something was different.

Deep inside the pit, a strange green light flickered.

A glowing portal.

Dipper's eyes widened.

"Okay... that was definitely not there before."

Mabel leaned closer, her sweater sleeves nearly falling into the pit.

"Oooooh. Mysterious glowing hole? Weird energy? Possible interdimensional travel?" She smiled. "This is either the coolest thing ever or the worst decision we've ever made."

Dipper looked at her.

"You realize those are usually the same thing with us, right?"

Before Mabel could answer, a strange buzzing sound echoed from below.

The portal grew brighter.

The ground started shaking.

"Uh... Mabel?"

"I know that face, Dipper," she said nervously. "That's your 'we're about to have a problem' face."

The two quickly backed away as the portal suddenly expanded.

"Gruncle Ford! Gruncle Stan!" Mabel yelled. "Emergency mystery situation!"

A few seconds later, Stan and Ford rushed over.

Stan looked annoyed, holding a mug of coffee.

"What now? Did another monster crawl out of the woods? Because I'm still not over the last one."

Ford ignored him, staring at the portal.

His expression changed immediately.

"That energy..."

Stan noticed.

"Oh no. That's your science face."

"My science face?"

"Yeah. The one where you say something interesting and then we all almost die."

Ford adjusted his glasses.

"This isn't just a portal."

Everyone looked at him.

"It's a gateway."

Dipper's eyes widened.

"A gateway to where?"

Ford didn't answer.

Because suddenly, the portal pulled.

Hard.

Mabel grabbed Dipper's hand.

"Okay! New plan! Nobody touch the creepy green hole!"

Stan grabbed onto a nearby tree.

"For once, I agree with the kid!"

Ford tried grabbing onto the edge of the pit, but the force was too strong.

"Mabel! Dipper! Hold on!"

The wind became louder.

Books, tools, and everything nearby started flying into the portal.

"THIS IS NOT HOW I PLANNED MY AFTERNOON!" Stan yelled.

Mabel screamed as her grip slipped.

"DIPPER!"

Dipper grabbed her hand.

"I GOT YOU!"

But then Ford reached for both of them.

And Stan, being Stan, refused to let his family get dragged away alone.

"Nobody gets sucked into a weird science hole without me complaining about it first!"

With one final pull...

They all fell.

Dipper woke up with a groan.

"Okay... that hurt."

Mabel sat up beside him, brushing dirt off her sweater.

"On the bright side..."

She looked around.

"We're somewhere new!"

Dipper stared at the strange alien world around them.

"That is not the bright side."

Ford slowly stood, looking around in amazement.

"An entirely different dimension..."

Stan groaned.

"Great. We went from one weird town to an entire weird universe."

Before they could figure anything out, a portal opened nearby.

A tall man with messy blue hair stepped through.

Behind him was a nervous-looking teenager.

Rick Sanchez looked at the group.

Then at the portal.

Then back at them.

"Okay."

He pointed at them.

"Either someone messed with my portal technology, or a bunch of random humans just fell into my universe."

Morty stared.

"Rick... are those kids?"

Dipper crossed his arms.

"We're not kids."

Mabel smiled.

"Well, technically we are, but we're experienced kids."

Rick blinked.

"That sentence raises more questions than it answers."

Ford stepped forward.

"You're Rick Sanchez."

Rick raised an eyebrow.

"You've heard of me?"

Ford nodded.

"Dimensional travel theories. Portal technology. Your work is... impressive."

Rick smirked.

"Finally, someone around here appreciates science."

Stan scoffed.

"Don't encourage him."

Rick looked at Stan.

"Wow. You must be the grumpy old guy."

Stan pointed at him.

"And you must be the guy who needs a haircut."

Morty covered his mouth, trying not to laugh.

"Okay, I kinda like these people."

Suddenly, another portal opened.

Rick's expression immediately changed.

Morty noticed.

"Rick..."

"I know."

A figure stepped through.

A familiar face.

Morty immediately looked uncomfortable.

Rick's eyes narrowed.

"Of course."

Mabel looked between them.

"Wait..."

Dipper noticed the tension.

"You know him?"

Morty looked away.

"Yeah."

Rick crossed his arms.

"Unfortunately."

The newcomer looked at Rick and Morty calmly.

"Rick."

"Morty."

Evil Morty glanced around at the unfamiliar group.

His eyes landed on Ford.

Then Dipper.

Then Mabel.

Mabel tilted her head.

"Okay, I have a question."

Everyone looked at her.

"Why does everyone here look like they have some serious emotional baggage?"

There was a moment of silence.

Rick pointed at her.

"Okay, I like this kid."

Dipper whispered.

"Did she just say that..?"

Ford sighed.

"Yes, yes she did."

Evil Morty watched Mabel carefully.

She wasn't scared of him.

She didn't treat him like a monster.

She just looked curious.

And that was something he wasn't used to.

Rick noticed the look.

And immediately became suspicious.

"Oh, great."

Morty looked at him.

"What?"

Rick stared at Evil Morty.

"Nothing."

But he knew something was different.

Because somehow...

A girl from another dimension had managed to get Evil Morty's attention.

And that was usually when things got complicated.
