Chapter Text

“Okay, cut it out, it’s not funny!” Hirose complained as he squirmed on the desk he was leaning on.  His hands went up to mess up his hair out of nervousness and embarrassment.

“I didn’t know you were this passionate about Spider-Man, Hirose-kun,” Mukai commented, a smirk planted on his face while Takeuchi, on the other hand, was having a laughing fit.

Hirose went to punch Takeuchi’s arm, who dismissed the pain because of how hard he was cackling about the situation.

In the corner of the classroom, Nakamura Okuto looked longingly at the scene that was occurring, with his hand resting on his face. His eyes were only trained on Hirose, who had an incredibly cute pout on his face as he became the laughing stock for his friends.

He sighed into his hand, but finally got his attention away from the light haired boy when he heard a cough only a mere foot away from him.

“Oh, sorry, Kawamura-san,” Nakamura mumbled when he saw the exasperated look on her face.

The pair was currently sitting at Kawamura’s desk, with Nakamura who had pulled up a chair to converse with her.

“If you keep looking at Hirose-kun with that look on your face, the whole school is going to know about how you feel about him,” Kawamura teased.

Nakamura’s face blushed a slight pink at Kawamura’s comment, only reminding him of his hopeless predicament.

“You wanted to ask me something? Before you were rudely interrupted by Hirose’s charm?” Kawamura quickly changed the topic before Nakamura could wallow underneath the desk about his own thoughts.

“Oh- yeah!” Nakamura lit up, his posture straightening as if to focus up on what he was going to say. “Could you get me an extra copy of the new volume of Lovable Lunches that’s coming out today? I don’t think I’ll have time to do so on my patrol.”

“Of course, Nakamura-kun,” she said with ease.

She smiled warmly at the boy, knowing how difficult it must be to be a highschooler juggling his everyday life as well as his secret life. However, that smile transformed into something more devious that made Nakamura shudder in his seat.

“Looks like Hirose-kun really likes Spider-Man, hm?”

“What are you insinuating,” Nakamura questioned flatly

.

“Nothing! There’s no harm in giving him a small visit, especially with how confident you are under the mask,” Kawamura explained as if it was simple.

“The only reason why I seem so confident is because I don’t have to talk to anyone. The only interacting I actually do is with my fist and someone’s face… or my face and a streetlight.”  Nakamura grumbled, his shoulders tensing and hands gripping the bottom of his seat.

“I’m a total mess if I talk to Hirose, with or without the mask,” he groaned hopelessly.

Continuing laughter shortly ceased their conversation. Takeuchi’s stomach was starting to hurt from his laughing.

“Seriously, dude, it’s not that funny!” Hirose repeated, his brows scrunching and cheeks blowing up in a flush. “I just think you guys need to give him a little credit for what he’s done for others.”

“The way that you’re defending him, Hirose-kun, it makes me think you’re forming a little crush on the guy!” Takeuchi teased as he dried up the tears that were lingering in the corner of his eyes.

Hirose, appalled, made a noise of pure disbelief. He was quick to pounce on Takeuchi, which only led to them throwing hands at each other like seals.

Nakamura and Kawamura looked at each other as if it were instinct. The black-haired boy was already in a flush, and it only worsened when he saw the look on Kawamura’s face as she smiled brightly at him.

Whatever you’re planning, Kawamura-san, please don’t—

“Oh, Nakamura-kun knows Spider-Man personally!” Kawamura innocently said out loud, her head already turned to Hirose and the guys.

Nakamura’s forehead made contact with the desk in front of him when the classroom suddenly came to a quiet stop.

“Seriously?! Did you hear that, Hirose?” Takeuchi’s arm bumped Hirose’s in a knowing tone.

Nakamura was already a pile of mush, his entire body sprawled onto the desk in pure agony.

Kawamura-“ Nakamura weakly chirped.

“Of course! They talk all the time!” Kawamura motioned towards Nakamura with a friendly nod.

Friends with Spider-Man and Talk All the Time were repeatedly stabbing Nakamura’s back like prickly arrows that only let him slouch into himself even more.

Painfully, the poor boy turned his head to face and finally stomach the reactions of Hirose and the others.

He was met with Hirose’s doe eyes, which sparkled from curiosity. Nakamura’s blush failed to contain itself, feeling his own heart trying to beat itself out of his chest.

“That’s super cool, Nakamura-kun! What’s he like?” Hirose smiled softly at the sluggish boy.

Nakamura immediately straightened up and his hands gestured everywhere as if he was trying to grab the right words.

“I— Well— He’s, um—“ Nakamura struggled.

Desperate, his eyes shut close as he finally got words out.

“He’sasupercoolguyandwetalkallthetimeandsometimeshecomesbymyhouse!”

That was super lame! He comes by my house?! What are you thinking?!

Before Nakamura could freak out, Hirose marveled in pure amazement.

“You have to let me come by sometimes, Nakamura-kun!” he suggested. “We could walk home today, see if he comes!”

“Ah, sor- sorry, Hirose-kun, but I’m actually, err, doing some errands for my family. I’m not going home after school,” Nakamura quickly made an excuse.

Are you freaking stupid? You’re passing up a chance to walk home with the Hirose?! No, no. I’m doing this for a good reason!

Hirose deflated, his eyes meeting the ground as if he were embarrassed. But, he seemed to regain himself and soothed Nakamura.

“It’s alright then, maybe some other time, y’know!” Hirose cheerfully approved, as cool as ever in Nakamura’s eyes.

Mukai and Takeuchi playfully scoffed at Hirose’s reaction.

“Right- yeah-“ Nakamura was cut off by the school bell. Like clockwork, Otogiri-sensei entered the classroom. His footsteps seemed to boom louder than the bell, signaling everyone to find their seats and get ready for another school day.

Takeuchi sighed, and the group murmured their goodbyes to each other.

Hirose snuck one final glance to Nakamura before he turned around to sit and face the board.

Nakamura sighed, amazed he escaped this terrifying intervention. Before he could relax, he gave his best terrifying glare to Kawamura, who could only giggle at his predicament.

As he got out his notebook and pencils, he could only think about his job and unsurprisingly, Hirose.

Maybe he was confident under the mask. If he’s able to climb on walls, then he should be able to talk to his damn crush. It’s not like he’s actually Nakamura.

That’s the thing, though. He likes Spider-Man. But does he like Nakamura?

Before he could run in his head with questions he failed to answer, Otogiri-sensei called on Nakamura for an algebra question that he could actually answer.
