Chapter 1: Iroha

Chapter Text

Iroha was a beautiful young girl who went to an all girls school in Seoul, Korea. She was from Japan, but she moved to Korea because of a work thing her father had.

Iroha was never as social as her parents thought she was. She was never social at all. In fact, she would rather be in her room studying than go out to those parties that all the other people her age go to.

Iroha’s mom, Sakura, always tried to get her to socialize.

“Oh, you’re alone in your room too much.”
“You need to go outside and talk to people your age!”
“You can’t just read all day!”

Because Sakura grew up social and popular.

Iroha did not.

It was the 3rd week of school. Far enough into the year that most people had everything situated: friends, sports, clubs, hell even locker decorations.

Iroha was walking down the hallway to her first class, as usual, when she saw the popular girls: Yunah, Moka, Minju, and worst of all… Wonhee. Iroha didn’t think Minju was that bad, she helped Iroha out with an assignment once and is actually nice to her. The other three… not so much.

Wonhee, being the worst out of all of them, used to bully Iroha relentlessly. She’s backed off a bit recently, but still says those snarky ass comments. Safe to say, Iroha hates her. Iroha has always hated her. She’s sure of it.

Yunah and Moka were just plain… annoying. They rarely said anything directly to Iroha, but when they did, it stung.

Iroha saw Wonhee and her friends walking down the hallway, towards Iroha. That’s when Iroha knew she was screwed.

“Still reading those books all day, nerd? Is that all you do all day? You probably read those books just to escape your lonely life, with no friends.” Wonhee called out, that infuriating damn smirk in her face. Iroha just wanted to…

Before Iroha could reply, Minju cut in, “Yah, Wonhee, leave her alone. We’re gonna be late for class.” Thank god. Minju just saved Iroha from being embarrassed in front of half the 12th grade.

“Ugh, whatever,” Wonhee replied while being led away by Minju, “I’ll deal with her later.”

Later probably means alone in the locker room after gym. Iroha knows she’s gonna get beat up. Well… probably. Wonhee’s been acting off lately, avoiding Iroha. Of course, Iroha noticed immediately, and was relieved.

Later inevitably came, and… nothing. Actually, no one even glanced at Iroha during gym. Wonhee didn’t either.

But that’s because…

Wonhee wasn’t there.

Wonhee skipping? That’s so unlike her. Iroha has never seen wonhee skip a class ever. Especially gym.

Iroha looked around. She saw Minju and Yunah, and came to the conclusion that Wonhee and Moka are skipping together.

”That makes sense, because Moka skips all the time, and she probably…” her thoughts trailed off, and she realized,

”Wait.”

”Why do I even care? I should just be grateful Wonhee wasn’t here to beat me up.”

And so, like a normal person, Iroha moved on. She wasn’t the type to dwell on things, especially if it’s none of her business.

After school, she was walking home. It was dark because she had stayed at school late helping set up stuff for some stupid beginning-of-year festival thing the schools hosting. She didn’t really want to but whatever, it is what it is.

That’s when she heard it. Footsteps running.

BAM!
