Our universe began when the cosmic beings known as kwamis were born. The event as we know it is called the big bang. Since the kwamis can not normally be seen by mortals, the first glimpse of them by anyone that could have been around when the big bang was ending would have seen a multitude of colors that brought everything as we know it into existence. Many of these kwamis represent the same or similar things since every world, dimension, and realm in our universe has their own group of kwamis that are connected to it.
The Human Realm has the Kwami of Creation named Tikki who, in her more commonly known form, looks similar to a red and black spotted ladybug with blue eyes and a big head compared to her body and a pair of wings on her back. Tikki’s opposite, or the yin to her yang, Plagg the Kwami of Destruction in his more commonly known form looks similar to a black cat with green cat eyes and a similarly large head with cat ears and a tail to match. Another realm known as the Demon Realm has a kwami that represents both, they are known as Titann the Kwami of Magic, their appearance is similar to Tikki and Plagg’s they have an out of proportion big head. However Titann looks like a fluffy black dog with a dark grey spot on his stomach and tip of his tail, the top half of his head is covered in a cute skull with horns and fangs that almost looks like a mask and he has golden eyes that look similar to a cat's eyes.
Several billions of years passed after our universe began and sentient life started to show up in several different places across our universe along with another group of semi cosmic beings known as the titans who appeared in the Demon Realm. Why they were in our universe and not their own is unknown, however many theorised that perhaps two different universes crossed one another at their beginnings and left remnants of each other in them after they passed. This would mean that perhaps in the universe the titans originated from some kwamis, appeared where they should not.
Eventually a couple titans passed on and mortal beings started to arise from their corpses, they were known as demons and witches. Though these beings could not cast their own natural magic they learned the titan’s language and were able to do magic that way. A few more billion years pass and in that time the witches and demons evolved to have their own natural magic in the form of a bile sac attached to their heart. At the same time humans in the Human Realm had just started to figure out how to use the magic that was in their realm. It took humans so long to figure out the techniques to use magic since the Human Realm’s magic is stagnant, which meant that rigorous training and the knowledge on how to harness it was difficult to figure out. An exception to this is potions, since for the most part potions are mainly chemistry based but the knowledge and use of potions would not happen for a while.
One day some titans blood had made a portal in a body of water on one of the titan corpses this led to the Human and Demon Realm having contact for the first time. Around this time humans also noticed a change in the magic in their realm, the cause of this would later be found out to be because of the portals that started opening up. The magic from the titans in the Demon Realm had been leaking through and causing the stagnant magic in the Human Realm to suddenly gain movement which allowed easier access and use of it. With the portals open witches, demons and humans met for the first time and they all agreed to work together to help each other and an era of harmony between the two realms had begun.
Back then the people of both realms were kind, back then titans still existed and lived.
Some time before our current era the humans, witches, and demons collective knowledge and prowess lead to some very powerful witches, demons, wizards, sorcerers/sorceresses, and mages from both realms, who not only taught the younger generations but also worked together to help the people of both realms when problems emerged. A couple hundred years after the beginning of this era of harmony some conflict among the humans started to show up in the Human Realm. In order to keep the peace all the powerful magic wielders came together and founded two groups consisting of the best and most powerful of both their people. The group of people from the Demon Realm became known as, the Enchanters while the group of people from the Human Realm became known as, the Guardians.
The Enchanters and Guardians came together and discussed what they should do to keep the peace, this led to the Guardians sharing that they had knowledge of cosmic beings known as the kwami who embodied the different concepts of the Human Realm and that there was likely some in the Demon Realm as well. However while they had the knowledge they did not have the magical ability to create ways of contacting the kwamis and borrowing their powers. The Enchanters after learning this suggested they worked together to make it possible considering they had the magical ability to create such things but not the knowledge necessary. So they came to an agreement, they were going to make what they were dubbing the Miraculous to contact the kwamis and borrow the power they wield in both realms, but since the Human Realm was currently experiencing problems they decided to work on theirs first.
The first attempt to create the miraculous resulted in a jewel they called the Prodigious; it had some flaws and instead of connecting to one of the kwamis it connected to the renlings who represented human values. Because more than one renling was connected to the prodigious it was deemed unfit for use so it was sealed in a sacred cave and guarded by spirit. Their next attempt resulted in the miraculous, the first two they had started with were the ladybug and black cat, the perfect balance of each other. With the two miraculous made, the Guardians and Enchanters were able to give them to trustworthy allies who became the first ever superheroes that brought peace back to the Human Realm. Of course that did not mean that they were no longer needed for problems kept showing up so they continued helping. Eventually the twelve zodiac miraculous were made along with six others that did not fit with the zodiacs.
With twenty whole miraculous jewels made the groups had also made a special box to keep the miraculous safe in called the Miracle Box, later to also be known as the Mother Box. The Guardians had organized the miraculous into what they called yin yang pairs, these pairs were balancing and often went well together that did not mean that they only paired well with their other half, only that it was the best fit. These pairs consisted of: the ladybug and black cat, the turtle and bee, the fox and owl, the butterfly and peacock, the rooster and monkey, the snake and rabbit, the mouse and tiger, the goat and pig, the horse and dog, and the ox and dragon.
After many years and many revisions and discoveries to how the miraculous worked, the Guardians had changed a couple things to not only protect the holders but the kwamis themselves. In this time they had also made many more miraculous for different miracle boxes. They also discovered potions thanks to the Enchanters and were able to develop powerup potions for the miraculous. This also led to potions becoming a popularized form of magic since nearly anyone could do it.
Quite some time passed and what would later be known as the before common era was coming to a close. The Human Realm was finally at peace enough that the Enchanters and Guardians were able to come together again and decide to begin working on the Demon Realm’s miraculous. They chose to start with the Demon Realm version of creation and destruction, however they were surprised to find out that instead of two kwamis it was only one, the Kwami of Magic. Since they were not pressed for time because there was no emergency in the Demon Realm the groups had taken their time collecting the best materials to make the miraculous. The Guardians had collected some of the Human Realm’s magic in a condensed liquid they were calling liquified mana, they also gathered some clear gems called diamonds to infuse with Human Realm magic for several days. The Enchanters had asked one of their living titans if they could help them by giving them a little bone and blood since getting them from a living titan is much stronger.
They succeeded after taking several years to gather the materials and made the best miraculous so far. Before anyone could test the miraculous the Enchanters had received word of an emergency happening in the Demon Realm so they took the new miraculous and without haste returned to the Demon Realm. The Guardians tried to ask if they could help but the Enchanters told them to stay in the Human Realm just in case.
Emergency did not even begin to cover what was happening in the Demon Realm. A group of cosmic beings from beyond the stars who called themselves the Archivists first made contact with the titans only to come to fear their power since it could counteract their own. The Archivists had tricked their youngest sibling the Collector into acting as a spy without his knowledge. Meanwhile the rest of the Archivists had organized some witches into a group called the Titan Trappers and armed them with weapons and magic that could completely kill a titan. The primary goal was to commit mass genocide on the titan race. The Enchanters got to work trying to help defend their realm, one of them even used the new miraculous, turning them into a titan themed superhero. Much later they found out some small physical side effects on the user’s corpse likely caused by using the miraculous but were unable to discover the cause or the exact specifics of said side effects. The reason being the user was killed soon after using the miraculous and the Enchanters decided to bring the miraculous to the Human Realm for safety.
However they were too late, the damage had been done, the titans were now almost completely extinct, there were very few left. Among the titans that were left was the titan that had agreed to give them some bone and blood. Apparently he imprisoned the Collector in the In Between Realm through a magical tablet since he thought he meant harm to his un-hachted egg. Afterwards the Archivists left in fear of also being imprisoned but not before working with the Titan Trappers to kill off the remaining titans. The Titan had managed to escape with his egg and the Enchanters by using his magic sonic roar. The Titan managed to use his magic to build a hidden sanctuary to safely leave his egg only for him to later lay down from exhaustion and pass away in his sleep, unbeknownst to the Enchanters. Even though his body may be dead and starting the process of decaying he is not completely dead as his spirit is in the In Between Realm watching over them and his egg. Meanwhile the Titan Trappers were killing off the witches and demons who were not on their side.
After quickly building a temple and a portal doorway on the titan they were currently standing on, the Enchanters had made their way back to the Human Realm to tell the Guardians what happened and asked them to watch over and protect the Miraculous of Magic while they tried to fix the wreckage of the Demon Realm. They said their goodbyes and left, shortly after all the portals to the Demon Realm had started closing; this was part of the Enchanters plan the Guardians were informed of. The goal, to protect their human allies from any potential dangers while they attempted to fix the damage done to their realm. The Guardians created a secret compartment in the Chinese Miracle Box to hide the miraculous the Enchanters entrusted them with.
Without the portals open magic in the Human Realm became stagnant again causing the use of magic to decline since it was no longer easy to learn. Conflict was starting to rise again and as the more time went on the more magic was forgotten about, the Guardians tried to keep the peace but without their Demon Realm allies they were struggling. Almost two millennia had passed and the Guardians' hope for the return of the Enchanters was fading, they were now in what is referred to as the common era. Unknown to the Guardians was that the Enchanters had all passed away after fixing what they could of the destruction in their realm. This happened because the Titan had only recently passed on and his corpse was not yet suitable to live off of. The Enchanters however did leave behind a temple with their knowledge and history in hopes that when life comes forth from the Titan’s corpse they will be better off.
Around the 1600s the Salem Witch Trials took place, when word of this reached the Guardians they were hopeful that their allies had returned so they sent a small search party out to the last location that reported a witch doing magic. They arrived in a small town in Connecticut called Gravesfield but by the time they made it to the location it was too late. Any “witch” that was tried was just a human and the few that were rumored to be real witches had escaped or vanished leading the Guardians to conclude that they were likely chased back to the Demon Realm. By that time the trials had already ended. Disheartened, the small search party returned to discuss what they should do. The Guardians decided to protect the miraculous and do their best to keep peace in the Human Realm. Unknown to them, apparently two children went missing as well.
A couple of centuries pass and it is now currently around the 1800s new members have joined the Guardians and new recruits are selectively chosen. One of the current heads of the Guardians, the Celestial Guardian Grandmaster Su-Han, has been a member for about a century at this point. Wang Fu was recruited at a young age and was put through training. During the training Fu made a mistake causing the Guardians and most of the miraculous to disappear into the stomach of the sentimonster he had created. Fu managed to escape with the Mother Box and a spell book but he tripped and dropped them causing him to lose the spell book, Butterfly, Peacock, and unknowingly the Titan Miraculous which had fallen out of its secret compartment into a puddle that the Titan in the In Between Realm had used a small amount of his remaining strength to make a miniature portal to the Demon Realm in it to try and keep it safe. Since the Miraculous of Magic was made with the Titan’s blood and bone he had a special connection to it so he noticed when Fu had run away with it and dropped it. The Titan put it in the old Enchanters temple which had mostly been buried beneath the ground with the passage of time, to keep it out of Belos’ slimy hands.
