Stardate {XXXXXXX}
The Enterprise is on her five year mission of exploring deep space, and boldly go where no one has before. Currently on a stop near two proton stars in circle, Captain Kirk had decided on a few hours of shore leave for the crew on a nearby Class M planet for the crew to recharge before going on surveillance of the two stars.

Spock stood by the window, he’d been pacing around his quarters more than would’ve been moderate for the extent of worry he should have. The reason for his pacing was once more his captain. Jim hadn’t answered his com link in a while. Sure, the Vulcan knew that when on a few hours of shore leave, the captain was likely to have turned it off or just overheard. But even humans don’t fail to answer a com link after ten attempted calls.
Before leaving Jim had told his number one he’d be back in maximum four hours. Though three had turned into four, then into five, six… Now the captain had been out for seven hours and approximately thirty-two minutes.
Spock shouldn’t be worried, it wasn’t logical. Then again, many of the things that had to do with James Tiberius Kirk weren’t exactly logical from the half-Vulcan’s part. A small groan left his lips as he sat down on the floor between the candles he had arranged a few minutes earlier and started meditating. A weak attempt of distraction really.
Another hour passed and Spock got up, blew out each of the candles and neatly put them back into their cabinets. Jim still hadn’t called. For a moment the science officer considered trying to reach Doctor McCoy in hopes of getting a hold of their captain, but quickly discarded that thought and sat down on his bed instead.
The ship hummed around him, the atmosphere of the Class-M Planet they were currently orbiting shining in a soft blue hue outside the windows of the Enterprise. Resting on his back, Spock shut his eyes and tried to block every little bit of emotion that was clinging to him. He did this more often since his friendship with Jim had begun. Only a few days ago the captain had stopped him in the hallway, two fingers pressed to Spock’s wrist. Just a human action to have him pay attention but the Vulcan’s hand had tingled for hours to come.
He rolled over on his side and curled into a comfortable position, shutting his eyes to try and get some rest, in hope that Jim would be back shortly or call him and apologize for not doing so earlier.

Jim hurried through the corridors of the Enterprise, desperate to get to Spock’s quarters as fast as he could. His hair was damp, blonde locks stuck to his forehead as he rushed past other officers. The reason for this was the shower he had been smart enough to take after his return to the ship. Both to refresh and wash at least a bit of the effect of the alcohol off of himself.
Yes, he had his com link off and had ignored Spock on purpose for the last few hours, but even he sometimes needed a bit of time to get his head cleared, even if that meant a lot of whiskey and dancing with anyone available. That however didn’t mean the captain didn’t feel guilty about having ignored his friend for so long, knowing that the Vulcan was likely worried for Jim’s safety by now.
In front of the door to Spock’s quarters Jim stopped and took a deep breath, brushing down his outfit. Casual due to shore leave. A simple shirt and trousers just to be comfortable while enjoining the sunset over the beach. The blonde smiled for a second, recalling the way Scotty’s face had lit up at the hue of the many colors painting the sky and sea. Another deep breath before he finally knocked three times, hoping Spock would answer.
Spock bolted upright on his bed, not that he’d been sleeping in the first place. That knock he’d know everywhere. Three distinct knocks, two light, one firm. Jim. But despite himself Spock stayed right where he was, just to spite Jim and let him know that he was everything else than happy with how he had acted this evening and now night.
After fifteen and a half seconds of Spock not answering the door Jim groaned quietly and knocked his forehead lightly against the door of his number one’s room.
„Are you sleeping or sulking?“, he asked against the metal with a small huff of a regretting laugh.
Spock’s ears twitched. Vulcan’s didn’t sulk. Not ever. It was illogical and inefficient. A small exhale fell from his nose before he pushed upright from where he had been seated on the edge of the bed and walked over to the door. The loose black trousers he wore swaying lightly around his bare ankles as he reached out to click the button on the door panel to finally open the door.
Jim almost fell forward when the door slid open with that satisfying hiss but he managed to catch himself just in time and his bright greenish blue eyes locked on Spock’s dark ones.
„Commander“, the blonde greeted.
„Captain“
Spock’s mind ran a mile a minute, assessing his T’hy’la. 0.1% blood alcohol level, judging by Jim’s slightly swaying stance and the moderately increased body temperature. Otherwise Kirk seemed fine, slightly smelling like sandalwood and the peach shampoo he used. Spock took a step to the side, allowing the human man a clear path of entrance, while remaining ready to catch Jim, in case he tripped over the slightly elevated flooring.
Kirk took a step forward and into the room, door sliding shut behind him. Spock turned instantly and walked over to the window again, hands clasping tightly behind his back. That got Jim to huff lightly as he followed his best friend over to where the atmosphere still sparkled outside the glass.
Without much hesitation, the blonde slipped his left hand onto the spot of bare skin on Spock’s lower back, just above from where the science officer had his own hands clasped behind him. Soft finger’s lightly slipping underneath the shirt’s fabric to caress greenish hued skin.
„I guess I should apologize for my lack of communication.“, Jim murmured lowly, the slur in his voice gone after the shower he had taken, though the tempo of his speech defiantly decreased.
Spock only reacted with a low hum, too busy trying to ignore the pleasant tingling in his spine, where Jim’s hand rested with so much confidence it was almost impressive how humans acted with so much physical contact.
„I suppose I just needed a few hours away from everything, you get me?“, the captain continued, his digits beginning to trace a small infinity loop on Spock’s back.
Even when he was mad, Spock couldn’t help but melt to Jim’s soft, apologetic words and gentle touches. With a sigh his shoulders sagged and he leaned back into Kirk’s shoulder just to show that he had already forgiven the blade, despite the other man’s recklessness and talent to be an utter nuisance.
„I was merely a bit worried about you, sir.“, the Vulcan mumbled, turning around to face his captain, being greeted with a teasing grin from Jim, who let his hands slide to his first officer’s waist and held him there loosely.
„You called me at least ten times. I’d call that fretting.“, the captain chuckled and then leaned into Spock, resting his chin on the taller one’s shoulder.
Spock just rolled his eyes and let Jim rest on him. The blonde took that as an opportunity to press a kiss on the side of Spock’s neck, which caused the science officer to freeze. His brown eyes widened and he just stared at Jim, who had pulled away a bit in the meantime, for a long moment.
Almost unconsciously he leaned in and their lips met in a soft kiss that seemed to last an eternity and send sparks through both of them, like neither had felt before. Jim being the ladies man he is had, in all his time with beautiful women never felt like this about a kiss, and Spock, well, let’s just say, most of the Vulcan logic went right out the airlock.
After the kiss had ended, both needing to come up for air, Jim rested their foreheads together and breathed out for a second before whispering:
„I love you, Spock.“
„Ashau nash-veh tu.“, Spock replied before catching Jim’s lips with his again.
