Work Text:
“…FC Seoul and Daejeon Hana Citizen FC. The match tomorrow is the one people have been waiting for.”
“It’s the K League 1’s championship match that puts everything at stake for the players.”
“Moreso Seoul. They have been dominating this league for years but Daejeon has been shaking it up ever since An Yujin signed to be in Daejeon Hana.”
“An Yujin…the English Premier star that made non-gender matches happen worldwide. And now, she goes back to her hometown’s club so she could do something in her one-year break from Tottenham before her renewed contract next year. A very spontaneous decision but that mysterious charm is what makes her fans love her.”
“It’s not just her charm, it’s her face that her fans scream for most of the time.”
The sports commentators laugh at one of their remarks while Wonyoung snorted playfully.
“I can’t believe we went from talking about the ‘match of the century’ to An Yujin’s pretty face,” they laugh again to this sarcastic comment.
“Speaking of ‘pretty faces,’ a little birdie has told me another pretty face will join tomorrow’s match.”
“That’s right, Victoria’s Secret model Jang Wonyoung will grace us also with her presence,” the sportscaster gestured with his two hands slowly going to his sides as he bows.
“Miss Jang, the first ever Korean Victoria’s Secret Angel, is from Seoul but is sponsoring for the Daejon Hana tomorrow. It is also another mystery unraveled.”
“Precisely like An Yujin.”
“If you think about it, they have been spotted together here and sometimes in England when Miss An was still playing for the Premier League. A good-looking couple perhaps,” the commentator says in which Yujin scoffed in agreement and Wonyoung could only slap her shoulder while chuckling.
“Or friends. I hear she is dating renowned actor Byeon Wooseok.”
“No, she’s not,” Yujin slightly shouted to the television contrasting to how softly she caressed Wonyoung’s hair.
“Baby, don’t get frustrated. We both know they don’t know a single thing,” Wonyoung says as she pulls Yujin’s face for a kiss in the cheek.
They were watching the news’ playback about Yujin’s match tomorrow when her mother sent it to their family’s group chat, which Wonyoung is also in (it was her who saw the message and played it on their television).
They have been dating for two years now ever since Yujin met Wonyoung in an event where some of the most famous Korean celebrities working abroad get together. Wonyoung was already a model in Victoria’s Secret for a year and Yujin had signed the contract for Tottenham three months earlier the get-together.
And now, they are sprawled in the bed of their penthouse in Seoul, with a thick blanket over them and their stripped-off bodies warming each other’s.
“I know, but sometimes I just want to kiss you in front of the whole world that’s watching,” Yujin whines.
“I told you…we can go public. It wouldn’t hurt my image, like you’re always worried about. Plus, what’s wrong with a few eyes glaring at us when we both know that our families and colleagues support us?”
Yujin leans on the hand Wonyoung had offered her since earlier.
“When we’re ready and the time is right.”
“Exactly. You know I’m always ready.”
“I love you,” Yujin smiles and pecks the hand that Wonyoung still has on her cheek.
“But, do you know what I’m more ready for?”
“Hmm?”
“Another round…”
“Won, I have a match tomorrow, and I can’t lose due to fucking my girlfriend the night before. And my core already hurts.”
“I never knew you were so weak,” Wonyoung pouts sarcastically.
Yujin grabbed Wonyoung’s waist and put her above her hips, making Wonyoung yelp from the sudden act.
“Fine, one more. But only because I hate losing,” Yujin joked which made Wonyoung giggle.
“Yes, I love you too.”
And Yujin spent the remaining time of her rest before the match making love, the sounds they made now deafening the sounds of their television.
—
Wonyoung woke up, with her half-naked figure and a white tee, that Yujin may have put on her before she went out, to an empty, warm bed. Yet, it didn’t feel as warm as it should be to Wonyoung without waking up to Yujin snuggling her. This moment brought flashbacks in Wonyoung’s mind before they officially dated.
Yujin and Wonyoung never planned to date seriously. They both knew they were drawn to each other after having a stare-down in the very crowded room of the get-together, as if they were the only people in there. Probably due to the influence of alcohol and driven by their lust, that night didn’t end with just eyeing each other.
They spent three months goofing around, then leaving the other to wake up by herself, going back together to spend the night, and then having to wake up again alone. The cycle kept on repeating until Yujin decided to just tell Wonyoung straight up that she didn’t want to keep on doing what they were doing. And the rest is history.
Wonyoung chuckled to her sudden nostalgia but went back to her feeling of loneliness after realizing again that Yujin wasn’t there to wake her up with her morning kisses. She knew she was at her practice for the match later this evening and they will still see each other later but it didn’t stop Wonyoung’s heart to feel hurt.
Although, that feeling dissipated when she noticed the messy handwritten note (she thought Yujin was on a hurry, as she always is) on their bedside.
‘Good morning my sweet, sweet princess! Hope you woke up to the right side of the bed even if you didn’t wake up to me. When you see this note, I’m already practicing for my match later to impress the most beautiful girl that will grace us with her presence later,’ she laughed at Yujin’s attempt to mock the sportscaster from last night.
‘I prepared breakfast for you, wouldn’t want you to cheer for me on an empty stomach. Please message me when you wake up and have eaten my love-filled breakfast. I miss you already. See you later, my pretty angel. <3
- Love, your Yujinie ;)‘
Wonyoung smiled bashfully like a teenager who got a gift from their crush. Yujin has always been so cheesy when it comes to declaring her love for Wonyoung but it still makes her heart warm and feel fuzzy.
She took her phone, which was on top Yujin’s note for it not to fly away, to take a selfie and sent it to Yujin.
‘Good morning baby. Saw your note and you’re still cheesy as ever. Good luck for your game later and don’t practice too hard, can’t risk for more girls falling for you,” she messaged.
She then made her way to the kitchen and saw the breakfast Yujin prepared for her. She saw another note below the plate of heart-shaped pancakes Yujin made for her.
‘Eat, eat, eat. You gotta fill up your stomach with Yujinie’s love.’
Another cheesy note but it was cheesier than the last, but Wonyoung does not mind how cheesy it is because she’s so blinded by their love.
She took another selfie and angled it to include the food and note, and texted, ‘Thought I was the clingy one. Haven’t ate it yet but I already feel full from the affection it’s emitting right now. All of this is making me miss you more than I should’ve. :(‘
She ate Yujin’s breakfast even if some of the pancakes were overcooked and undercooked but the effort the soccer player showed made her fuller than her breakfast. After finishing her meal, she started preparing for Yujin’s match.
—
On the other side of Seoul, Yujin was extending her 10-minute break and made it fifteen. Their coach was about to scold her (playfully) for taking too long but after seeing the reason why, he just gave up.
All of Yujin’s teammates, even their coach, know about how down bad Yujin was for Wonyoung. They couldn’t blame her after the time Yujin brought her to practice. Wonyoung was one of Korea’s golden celebrities and seeing her beauty up close wowed them all, not to mention how kind she also was.
Whenever it concerns the model, Yujin would always make up excuses to stop practicing for a little while; her team knew what it was about even from the start. After constant attempts to bring Yujin back to practice, she wouldn’t continue until she finished her affairs with Wonyoung. Funny enough, Tottenham has had the same situation ever since they started dating.
However, they didn’t complain in the end since they knew how diligent Yujin can be to soccer. This was just a little payment to her hardworking ethic over the years; all her co-players, coaches and managers agree.
And this time was no exemption.
Her coach and teammates could only laugh at Yujin’s expression. She looked like she was malfunctioning as she held her phone in an oddly still manner while having a shocked and entranced face. Her team looked over to her phone and nodded in agreement.
Her phone displayed Wonyoung in the morning setting, looking very domestic. She was wearing a simple, white t-shirt from Yujin’s closet that Yujin herself put on her, but a simple shirt like that doesn’t dumb down Wonyoung’s beauty. And Yujin would know of all people, her face a clear evidence of that.
Her hands hovered over the chat box, fiddling with the keyboard to come up with a reply. But no matter how much she tried forming words, it would be a clear mess.
Their captain just shook his head with a smile on his face. He tapped Yujin to try catching her attention, “Earth to Yujin?”
“Huh?”
“We should continue, don’t you think?”
“Oh…yeah, right.”
All of the team teased her about it while their coach just laughed at them. Yujin could only reply with a red face, making her team tease her even more.
“How are you gonna play later?”
“Right, our Yujinie can’t even move her fingers.”
“Oh, shut up.”
They laughed at her sarcastic attitude and she could only laugh with them.
Yujin continued her practice with Wonyoung and a match to win later in mind.
—
When Wonyoung exited her van, she wasn’t expecting so many people to hover. She was stunned for a few seconds but immediately composed herself to give waves and smiles to the people. She could only chuckle how some of them screamed even more and others were dramatically melting over her. She was planning to sneak in where Daejeon Hana was in to see her girlfriend but a lot of people can see where she’s going, so she just gave up in doing so.
She went up to the stadium with her manager and situated herself to one of the seats in the VIP club seats. The other people who were in the same area greeted her in an attempt to speak English and she softly laughed and greeted them back in Korean. The people laughed in return feeling stupid enough to forget she was also Korean.
The match was about to start in fifteen minutes so her manager grabbed her attention to tell Wonyoung, “I’ll grab snacks first. Do you want any?”
“Oh, I’ll just have what you’ll have. Thanks, unnie.”
“Of course,” her manager smiled in reply to Wonyoung’s kind demeanor.
Wonyoung noticed the fans near their area starting to get loud. And then, her confusion was answered by a friend’s arrival.
Byeon Wooseok, one of Korea’s favorite actors, was wearing FC Seoul’s jersey in contrast to Wonyoung wearing Daejon’s. Wonyoung was about to ask why he was wearing their jersey but stopped herself after remembering he was in charge for this match’s first kick.
“Hu-ho, look who it is,” Wooseok said in English to mock Wonyoung.
“Oppa, is this really how you’ll greet an old friend,” Wonyoung replied in Korean
“You still know how to speak Korean?”
“Shut up. And you now know how to speak English.”
“Feisty as ever. Here for Yujin?” He asked while sitting down beside Wonyoung.
“Of course.”
“So, you only went back home for your girlfriend’s match?”
“Well, it’s not only the reason. I have a brand deal with one of the brands here.”
“Good luck. I’m happy we’ve seen each other,” Wooseok says too sarcastically for a statement he truly means and Wonyoung only laughs as a reply.
“Me too.”
Wonyoung and Wooseok have been friends for years ever since a project they worked together for a holiday advertisement. Thus, their little catching-up made them both happy. However, they noticed some people outside the VIP club seats murmuring with one another, probably discussing the possible relationship they have. They merely talk about it in their conversation and laugh at the bizarre idea since they’re both already taken.
“Oh, it’s about to start,” Wonyoung pointed out.
“I’m also called to go down, we should catch up soon since you’re here.”
“Okay oppa,” Wonyoung then continued with a slightly louder voice when Wooseok was a bit far to reach, “make sure you hit the ball correctly.”
He chuckled in response, out of Wonyoung’s reach of hearing.
Right when he arrived at the football field, Wonyoung’s manager took the seat beside her. She gave Wonyoung the honey-flavored chips she knew Wonyoung always loved. She found her heart melting at the sight of Wonyoung smiling like a child to her.
“Thank you unnie,” Wonyoung said warmly as she received the Diet Coke her manager gave her.
In a few seconds after, she heard people screaming and looked over to see the players going out with the player escorts. It was FC Seoul who went out to the field first and was followed by Daejeon Hana Citizen FC. The last player to exit was Yujin, and Wonyoung felt her heart squeeze at the sight of Yujin talking with the player escort. It was an adorable fact that it was only Yujin who talked with the kids and Wonyoung found herself falling for her even more.
Unbeknownst to Wonyoung, her manager was smiling at the sight of Wonyoung looking so in love. She felt oddly motherly to this global superstar of a model and never stopped wondering why whenever she sees this side of Wonyoung looking all cute, proud, happy, and other emotions that Wonyoung looks best in.
The players are now lining up to sing the national anthem. Minutes after, including the coin toss, people are now hyping up Byeon Wooseok’s ceremonial kick-off. Wonyoung cheered along with them after he kicked the ball, thankfully shooting into the goalpost even when the goalkeeper didn’t even attempt to block his shot.
And now, the real deal for this day. The players are positioning themselves already on the field and Wonyoung leads her eyes to Yujin on Seoul’s defense side. She knew she wasn’t a player but her heart kept beating rapidly and she had the same nervousness of a player. It got worse when the whistle was made and the play was then commenced.
Wonyoung wasn’t a big fan of sports and the only way to keep her body in shape was to work out, but she now knows the rules of soccer ever since she got together with An Yujin. In the same way, Yujin tried to understand the way of fashion when she started dating Jang Wonyoung and her meticulous mindset of dressing well.
So now, whenever Wonyoung watches Yujin’s matches, she will always be on her tiptoes whether the ball was with the opposing team or Yujin. And today, it was no exemption.
Twenty minutes in and there was still no goal, all the players and even the audience knew how tight the teams were playing. Multiple goals were attempted, and even two of them were tried by Daejeon Hana but Seoul’s goalie was too quick on his feet. Even Yujin’s skill level wasn’t enough to intimidate him.
There’s only eleven minutes left until break and none of the teams were able to score. Wonyoung was still on her tiptoes and left her chips unattended back on her seat as she was standing from her anxious behavior.
Unfortunately for her and Yujin’s team, FC Seoul secured a goal with 44 minutes on the clock, leaving one minute left before half-time. The play didn’t continue after the goal as the referee whistled for the half-time break.
The players now huddled up to their respective sides with their coaches explaining strategies to them. Wonyoung was looking for Yujin but she couldn’t find her. So, she texted her, ‘You okay? You did amazing though, don’t let it bum you.’
Wonyoung was a little worried when Yujin didn’t reply and closed her phone but not a second later, Yujin sent a photo and messaged, ‘Took a toilet break hahaha. Don’t worry, I’m perfectly fine. Rather, it made me more fired up to score. :)’
Wonyoung’s previous worried face turned into relief and affection. How could she forget? Yujin works best under pressure when she knows she has nothing to lose.
Yujin was now jogging to her team that was still gathered around their coach and one of her female teammates, a defender, turned to her as she clasps both of her hands while wearing a disappointed face, probably apologizing. Yujin, the carefree person she is, smiled widely at her and the whole team and patted her on the back. Wonyoung could see the team having a different air around them, the kind that brings hope and determination. This was one of the many qualities Yujin displayed that Wonyoung loves.
“Unnie, can we go down to the field. I want to see the match better.”
“The match or…?”
“Both? Haha.”
They went down to the area near Daejeon’s team. While going there, Wonyoung’s manager tried her best to stop people hovering Wonyoung but failed due to her petite figure. Wonyoung just laughs at her attempt and took the job to walk fast enough before they completely blocked their path, grabbing her manager’s hand so she wouldn’t get lost in the crowd.
When they arrived there, some fans were asking for her photos and she agreed even if her manager declined. After a few, around seven photo ops, Wonyoung waved back to Daejeon Hana who were waving at her. The fans were cheering loudly and even louder when Yujin looked their way after one of her teammates elbowed her to look at them. When Yujin locked eyes with Wonyoung, she offered her her small smile with her faint dimples showing. Wonyoung, in response, blushed at it.
Wonyoung was about to wave at Yujin but she turned around to her coach calling her attention. Wonyoung just put her hand back to her side before people could notice. She remembered that they weren’t public but God how she wished to declare her love for Yujin at this time. She knew she should hold back since Yujin shouldn’t be distracted, especially with her nearby.
And Wonyoung was wrong; even without any advances, Yujin was starting to get distracted. Just knowing Wonyoung was so near she could just grab her made her mind become clouded, her coach’s words turning into incoherent murmurs.
“You got that?”
“Yes sir,” she half-lied since she still heard the gist of what he said.
Right when their coach was about to re-tell the strategy, the first whistle was made to announce the continuation of the match. Yujin looked back at Wonyoung before going to her position. The referee blew his whistle once again to officially start the second half of the game.
—
Fifteen minutes in the second half, the first red card was grabbed by the referee. At the same time, Wonyoung’s face turned pale and got more anxious. She wanted to help Yujin who was currently wincing in pain right now but she knows she can’t, making her even more uneasy.
In attempt to block Yujin, one of Seoul’s defenders kicked her by the shin and pushed her after. He was reasoning out with the referee who grabbed a yellow card while Yujin was still lying on the ground trying to ease the pain but he continued spamming offensive words to him and eventually the referee decided to pull out a red card in the end.
What’s worse for FC Seoul was that the same defender granted the Daejeon Hana to have a direct free kick after committing his offence. However, Wonyoung didn’t rejoice for the privilege as much as the fans since Yujin volunteered in the end.
Daejeon’s coach asked Yujin to go to him and even if Wonyoung was far, she could slightly hear Yujin say, “I swear I can do it.”
“I don’t think you are, let Lee do it.”
“C’mon, I really am fine. Let me do it,” her coach gave up as she emphasized me and looked too determined to do it.
“You went up to me walking like a newborn giraffe, don’t blame me for placing these cards on the table.”
“You need me.”
Yujin’s coach couldn’t reply because that was true so all he could say in defeat was, “Fine.”
“Thank you,” Yujin uttered and looked at Wonyoung unintentionally. Wonyoung mouthed don’t to her but she only nodded and mouthed I’m fine back. Only then she went back to the penalty box she was kicked and pushed by earlier.
As she positioned herself by the ball, the loud cheers from the stadium deafened her but somehow, she could feel the coordination of her body even more. She took a deep exhale, walked back by a few steps, and ran to kick the ball in a precise angle that puts the quick-footed goaler in confusion. Before she realized her shot was in, she was tackled into a hug by her teammates and the roars of their fans became louder.
Through her smile, she hurriedly looked back to Wonyoung and saw her cheering too. When Wonyoung noticed she was looking at her, she gave a thumbs up to her and Yujin remembered why she was so keen in scoring.
The play resumed a few minutes after and the earlier celebration turned to a heightened focus for both teams, knowing that the score is now even, 1-1. The players’ movements seemed more rushed but calculated, defenders becoming more agile and sharp while the strikers are going readier to brush off them.
With fifteen minutes left on the clock, Seoul secured another goal; the stadium developing another level of cheers with the other team scoring. This makes the game more heated with little time remaining and a close score with Seoul leading.
However, the stadium was engulfed with another type of roar when Yujin took the opening of passing the ball to her co-striker for her to even the score once again, making this one of Yujin’s greatest assists not only in this match but in her whole career. With three minutes left for a standard game to finish, it was so clear that they will extend for another thirty minutes of play.
The whistle was blown to end the 90-minute game for a break before the extension of thirty minutes. Both teams went back to their designated areas. The coach decided not to discuss strategies again since he believed the players were already doing well with the strategy he showed them during the half-time break. So, they were free to do whatever in their 15-minute break before the 30-minute extension.
Yujin went back inside to get more water and another toilet break because she didn’t want to lose over holding her pee (she can sound like an idiot sometimes). She went out with five minutes left for the continuation and she decided to go to where her girlfriend was because, why not?
“Hi,” Yujin says so stupidly while looking up to Wonyoung who was slightly above her with her eyes forming into crescents and her dimples showing more evidently than what she showed to Wonyoung earlier.
“Hi,” Wonyoung says too softly that she couldn’t hide the blush creeping onto her cheeks and the way her heart was beating too loudly in her chest.
Yujin didn’t know what to say when there were so many people watching them, screaming louder than the times they scored. And to add on that, she was talking to the most beautiful woman that still continues to take her breath away.
Ultimately, she settled on, “How are you liking Korea so far?”
Wonyoung was shocked by what Yujin just asked, and even the fans who were in earshot were confused after thinking they had some kind of relationship. Wonyoung could only laugh at her attempt (a very bad one, she thought) of putting an impression that they were barely acquainted. Yujin, on the other hand, was too preoccupied with Wonyoung’s laugh that sounded very warm and heartily.
“It’s going great. You should go back to your team, they’re calling you now,” Wonyoung says through her laughs.
“Right. Goodbye then,” Yujin smiled at her once more before leaving her, making the fans scream louder. But, not louder than their hearts altogether.
They were going back onto the field for the continuation of the match until Yujin’s fellow striker with her asked, “What was that all about?”
“What do you mean?”
“I thought you guys aren’t going public.”
“Speaking of that…,” Yujin snaked a hand to her nape and rubbed it in embarrassment, “I was planning to make our relationship public tonight.”
“You what?”
“Yeah, but do you think she’ll be mad?”
“I don’t think so. Didn’t you say she’s fine with going public?”
“Yeah, but I didn’t tell her.”
“You didn’t tell her?” The striker asked Yujin with hooded eyes as she was contemplating whether what Yujin said was a good thing or not.
“So, should I not?”
“I think you should. But, would you still do so if we lost?”
“Oh I wouldn’t worry about that, I’ll make sure of it,” Yujin says confidently as she runs to her actual position on the field, making the striker just shake her head with a smile. Was it amusement or admiration? Even she didn’t know.
The sound of the final whistle made Yujin the most determined she was tonight. Thirty minutes is a short time to do something but she truly believes in their defenders and made sure to assist or have a goal herself to score the deciding point.
Twenty minutes already passed and still no point. A few seconds later, FC Seoul almost scored another goal but thankfully Daejeon’s goalkeeper was fast enough to read their striker’s movement. Eight more minutes passed and the ball is still in the middle, no team having full control of it. However, Daejeon Hana’s middle-fielder worked through Seoul’s middle-fielders and made it safely to their strikers, getting on the offensive side.
When it reached to their right forward, the fans of Daejeon’s cheers filled the stadium. He was having a little trouble dribbling so Yujin raised her arm signaling him to pass it to her. After finding an opening to pass it to her, the ball reached to her with less than a minute on the clock. She was unfortunately greeted with three defenders blocking her but she dribbled across them that showed the whole South Korea, both in the stadium and watching the live broadcast, how she proved women like her are on even footing with male soccer players.
10, 9, 8…
Yujin kicked the ball in between one of the defender’s legs.
7, 6, 5…
Then she went near the goalpost with two defenders and a goalkeeper to force through, and kicked the ball.
3, 2, 1…
AND GOAL!
The whole stadium was erupting into cheers and Daejeon Hana Citizen FC celebrated their first win after multiple decades by running around, chasing Yujin around the football field and cheering with the audience. Yujin was running to where her coach was and both of them raised their fists in celebration.
However, Yujin noticed someone else celebrating loudly in her peripheral vision. It was someone who rarely became loud but Yujin was so happy to see her cheering for her too. Yujin ran up to her with a smile.
Wonyoung saw her going up to her so she shouted, “You did it!”
Before she was about to say another sentence, Yujin grabbed her into a hug and before long, Yujin broke their hug to grab her face and kiss the lips she was thinking to kiss the whole game. Wonyoung was shocked by this sudden act by Yujin, the An Yujin who was the one that was anxious to make their relationship public.
Before she could kiss her back with the same fervor, Yujin broke the kiss. Yujin’s shy and quiet sorry was cut off by Wonyoung who pulled her back into another kiss, more intense than the last.
Wonyoung pulled away and whispered, “I thought-“
“I love you! I love you so much,” Yujin screamed so loud that the people around them heard very much, including the wide-eyed fans. In truth, it was both something intentional and unintentional for her to say from how heavy her heart felt from both Wonyoung’s and her love inside.
They both laughed in the end after noticing the fans screaming the loudest they’ve been.
“You should go back to your team,” Wonyoung whispered with both their foreheads still touching.
“I want to stay like this.”
“Go on.”
“Fine,” Yujin says in defeat but with a smile still plastered on her face.
She goes back to her team and they celebrated even more loudly with her around. They went to the field for the awarding ceremony and FC Seoul greeted them with genuine smiles on their faces and congratulations only sportsmen can have. After it commenced, a sportscaster asked Yujin for an interview and Yujin allowed her to have one with her.
“Good evening, Miss An Yujin.”
“Good evening to you too.”
“First of all, I want to congratulate you for your win today.”
“Thank you, not just mine though. The whole team did so well tonight.”
“Very much. You play very well.”
“Yes, I’ve heard. Especially from that tall, beautiful angel over there,” she pointed to Wonyoung who was looking over them with a big, proud smile on her face.
The journalist laughs at her words and continues, “Speaking of that tall, beautiful angel over there, I believe you both know that your relationship is something unexpected but also beautiful to the public. In behalf of the mass, I wanted to ask you: where and how did you guys meet?”
“Oh, we actually just met tonight and I just decided to kiss her right there and then.”
They both laugh at Yujin’s sarcastic remark and she continued, “But really, I never expected to keep this relationship so secret until now. We’ve actually been dating for over two years now and we met in one of the events abroad for Korean personas. Let’s say it started a little rocky but thankfully, we got into the part where it’s smooth sailing now.”
The interviewee melted upon the image of the mysterious soccer star suddenly looking the brightest she is as she talks about the love of her life.
“I can see that you really adore her.”
“A lot. I just wish she also does,” Yujin says sarcastically again through slightly gritted teeth in which the woman laughed at this newfound charm of hers.
“Yujin-ssi, let me be the one to tell you but I believe she also took an interest in you.”
“Even more I hope, those two years shouldn’t be a waste.”
“It sure isn’t,” the journalist ends the sarcastic conversation.
They went back to laughing and went on to talking about Yujin’s career, how she balances it with her love life, what she’ll do when she’s back in England, her planned future, and many more.
“Well, it was nice talking to you Miss An.”
“Likewise.”
“I wish you best in your life; your career and now the relationship most of us from now on know,” the interviewee concluded the interview and Yujin’s last appearance was a nod with a dimpled smile. They both said their final goodbyes and regards and parted ways, with Yujin going to the woman who occupied her heart and mind, even her words, the most tonight.
Yujin knows that many headlines tomorrow will be about them, not just in Korea, but she doesn’t mind; especially when she can go to Wonyoung as the happiest person she can be in front of the whole world watching, like right now after winning the match, running to the person she loves whole-heartedly, and hugging and kissing publicly like they’ve always dreamed to.
