Work Text:
Uzi doorman. He was… unpopular around his school to say the least.
It seemed like no one, but at the same time everyone knew who he was.
No one knew him as “Uzi” though. Everyone knew him as something different.
“Gay freak”, “The boy with Lainey”, “Emo”, “Dumbass”, “Daddy issues”, “Pansy”, “She-male”, hell, Uzi had lost count!
He wondered when this had all even started. When his mom died? When he started dressing differently? When he started-
…
Nevermind.
He sat on his bed and stared at the wall. He understood why everyone hated him. Well, to a degree.
He was… strange. To say the least.
He somehow felt zero shame wearing shortish skirts and in some cases even dresses in the school.
He didn’t mind his hair growing out, only being forced to cut it when it got to the bottom of his neck by his ‘father’.
He despised everyone in the school, except maybe Trixie or.. Thad, was it? The girl or maybe boy (Uzi wasn’t sure, he didn’t think people could just change from a girl to a boy, but Trixie had announced to him about a month ago that she was a boy now and to call her Thad.) was the only one in school who was ever nice to him.
“UZI!” He heard Khan yell from somewhere else in their.. house? Bunker room? Uzi didn’t care enough to find out what they were called.
“What?” He yelled back. “COME HERE.” Uzi groaned and got out of his bed, walking in the direction of Khan’s voice.
He found the worker drone holding a pair of scissors and internally winced. Apparently his hair had gotten “too long for a normal boy”, and it was time for his… ‘haircut’.
If it could even be called that.
Uzi was convinced the only thing Khan actually cared about was his reputation and his ‘son’ not looking like a ‘freak’, and so any time he cut Uzi’s hair, all he actually did was haphazardly chop off chunks of it.
And it always ended up… bad, to say the least.
That was probably most of the reason Uzi wore his beanie everywhere.
“Do I really have to..?” Uzi murmured. Khan frowned. “Yes. Your hair is getting too long.” Uzi glanced down at his hair. It was barely past chin length.
“Sit down young man and let me cut your hair.” Uzi sat down in the chair in front of Khan and kept sitting silently as he thought.
“Young man.”
…
He didn’t like being called that.
Not at all.
Uzi sat for another 5 or 10 minutes, thinking about how wonderful it would be for him to be able to grow his hair long, wear skirts without having to change in the school bathroom, wear dresses to anything where girls had to do that, have a softer sounding voice, have that type of bod-
“Uzi.” “Hmm-?” “You’re done. You can go back to your room now.” Uzi got up without a word and walked back to his room and just.. sat.
On his bed, like before Khan called him.
But he couldn’t get a specific thought out of his head.
How fucking amazing it would be to be a girl.
Be treated like one. Not being called a ‘freak’ whenever he wore skirts. Have a lifted chest like the other girl drones in the colony.
He didn’t even notice how tears had slowly formed on his visor. What was he even sad about exactly..?
He sat up, propped himself up on his pillows, grabbed his knees to his face and just cried.
He didn’t know how long he sat there, but he eventually looked at his clock.
12 am..? Really..?
He stared at his door for a minute, then got up and walked to the door.
He opened it slowly and ran out of the house. Just sitting at the door. He stared up at the bare ceiling for a minute then ran toward the doors.
He glared at the drone at the main door as he opened it for him.
Once he got out, he walked a few minutes away from the door.
And just sat there. In the cold.
Why did he come out here again..?
He couldn’t really remember.
Real mature, Uzi. Running away from your problems. Literally.
He slowly walked back to the main door and knocked. He was greeted by Ron again and walked back to the Doorman house.
He walked down the hallway leading to his bedroom. He walked to his door and opened it.
He didn’t know what exactly he thought running off into the snow would accomplish. He was still ‘sad’, just.. cold now.
Uzi ended up right back where he started.
Sitting on his bed.
Staring at the wall.
Only this time filled with thoughts.
How fucking amazing it would be to..
What exactly?
Be a girl?
Get away from his ‘dad’?
Have his mom back?
Fit in better?
Probably a mix of all of those.
Uzi was miserable.
He eventually started crying again, and that’s how he fell asleep.
Crying.
Crying about what could have been.
Mourning what could have been.
What could never be.
