Chapter Text
‘I picked you up from the corner store,
your eyes were red and your lips were torn.
So much to say that’s subject-sore,
so much you’d change since you were born.
You wrapped your fingers around my neck,
and pulled me into your desperate breath.
The way you kissed me hot and fast,
I knew it’d be the last…’
Katsuki Bakugo stirred awake to the sound of his ringtone. “Which asshole calls someone at 3 fucking am… It better be fucking important.” The blond reached for his device, only to be blinded by the blaring screen.
‘Shosho’ was displayed on the top of the screen.
“Sho..?” The device was at his ear before the next ring could sound. “Hey, you okay?”
“Yeah,” The voice on the other line breathed. “Could you come over? To my house.”
“Icyhot, it’s almost 4 am.” Katsuki hesitated. Shoto seemed to be in a state of panic, and he knew his boyfriend well. A panic attack could lead to something with permanent effects.
“Please, Kats?” He seemed desperate. Too desperate.
“Alright, fine. But you owe me.” Katsuki huffed, thinking it would just be like any normal sleepover that he has had with Shoto.
“Actually, I might go get some drinks for us. Could you pick me up from the corner store near my house?” Shoto seemed to cheer up a little.
“Of course. I’ll be there in 15.”
“Thank you, Kitty Kat.” The candy cane on the other side giggled, leaving Katsuki with a faint smile.
“Never call me that ever again.”
“Yeah yeah, sorry Kats. I’ll see you soon?”
“See ya.”
Katsuki threw on a hoodie on and crept out the door, careful to not disturb his parents. He sat himself on the driver’s seat and started the engine. On the way to the corner store on Shoto’s street, Katsuki couldn’t help but feel that something was wrong. The car sped up and he soon arrived at his destination.
Climbing out of the car, a figure with candy cane tufts of hair was spotted walking out the store. “Sho!” His smile faltered when the face of the boy came into light. “Are… are you okay?” Katsuki rarely ever stumbled on his words, but Shoto did look like he just came from a battlefield.
Shoto’s bloodshot eyes softened at the sight of his boyfriend and the corners of his torn lips lifted. “I’m fine.”
He wasn’t.
“It’s just… him.” His heterochromatic eyes darted to the floor, not making any contact with Katsuki’s vermillion eyes.
‘Endeavor.’ Katsuki thought to himself. The number 1 ‘hero’ was a sensitive topic to Shoto and he rarely opens up about it. ‘God, Endeavor. What did you fucking do to him…’
Katsuki and Shoto met when they were both 4 years old, and they’ve been inseparable since. The latter used to be full of life and joy, but now, he was distant. Cold. The spark in his eyes vanished like it never existed, but Katsuki knew it did. And he missed that version of his lover. He had changed so much since then and Katsuki didn’t know how to help.
Shoto stepped closer to Katsuki and he felt fingers caress his neck. “Kats, I’m fine. Promise.”
“You’re-” He was cut off by a kiss.
“I’m fine.” The peppermint breathed, eyes flickering like he was looking out for something. Or someone. “We need to go.” The boy sounded desperate once again.
“Sho, what’s going on?”
“It’s complicated. Come on.” He grabbed Katsuki’s hand and sped towards the car. “Before he sees me.”
Katsuki had a feeling that Shoto was talking about Endeavor. He didn’t know what happened whatsoever, but he was determined to get Shoto out of this mess.
His lips were met with another kiss, but this time, a lot quicker. He glanced sideways at Shoto, who seemed to be extremely fidgety. Katsuki couldn’t stop thinking about the kiss. They’ve done this a million times before, and something felt off.
It felt like it would be the last kiss he’d ever get from Shoto.
