Chapter 1: Preface

Chapter Text

Hello. This is my third story.

Since I’m not a native English speaker, I’m sure there are still awkward phrases or places where my understanding of the culture doesn’t quite come through.
Even so, a few people have read my previous stories and even taken the time to leave comments, and that’s made me incredibly happy. Thank you so much! <333
Like my previous stories, this one was translated with the help of machine translation, and I carefully checked it myself afterward. I apologize if there are still any awkward or unnatural parts.

This time, I may be a little bad at translating. I'm sorry, but please watch over me warmly.

This has nothing to do with this story, but lately I’ve been entertaining a rather strange idea.

What if Lonnie lived not in Descendants, but in the world of Mulan—as the daughter of a general in ancient China? And what if she met Jay, a homeless boy who had wandered there from Persia or Arabia after being abandoned by his father and driven from his homeland?

Wouldn't that make for an epic historical drama?

I doubt many people would be interested, but if you are, I'd love to know! I've already come up with a surprising amount of worldbuilding and backstory. I haven't managed to write any of it yet—not in English, or even in my own language—but part of me really wants to share the idea itself.

Maybe someday I'll post the setting here in the fandom, if the inspiration strikes. If that sounds like something you'd enjoy, let me know!

I guess this has become something of a tradition. Here’s a character introduction, made with love:

Jay:
Just like in this story, whenever he talks to Chad, it somehow turns into a whole comedy routine—and even with Audrey, it kind of ends up the same way. He’s not dating Lonnie yet, but he cares about her a million times more than any other girl (aside from his closest friends), and it’s completely obvious to everyone around him.
…Wait. Zero times anything is still zero, so that doesn’t actually make sense. Not like he pays attention to anyone else, anyway. Anyway, he’s always thinking about Lonnie—he just thinks he’s hiding it.

Lonnie:
Even she—cheerful, carefree, and surrounded by wonderful friends and family—sometimes has to deal with things like this. There’s no telling how much it meant to her when Jay said, “We’re all on your side.

Audrey:
This story takes place after Descendants 3, and she’s had enough of both Ben and Chad. Having decided to rebuild her friendships with Mal and Evie, she’s now completely absorbed in spending time with them and has no time for boys. With that weight off her shoulders, she’s become even more charming—and while the attention from guys never stops, she turns them all down without a second thought. She’s on every girl’s side. Which is to say, she’s tough on guys—and especially ruthless with Jay.

Evie:
She and Audrey are now really close. Since she’s from the Isle, there are still parts of Auradon culture she’s not completely familiar with. Audrey knows a lot about that kind of thing, so whenever Evie has questions, she turns to her—and she’s genuinely grateful for it. She also shares a love of fashion with Lonnie and Audrey, and since all three of them have different tastes, their conversations always get lively.

Mal:
Sorry to all of Mal’s fans—she doesn’t appear much in this one. After this, though, she hears about the whole matchmaking situation from Evie and Audrey… and immediately looks like she might be sick.

Fairy Godmother:
A wonderful principal who’s always on the students’ side and goes out of her way to protect them. At the same time, true to her roots in Cinderella, she has a romantic streak—and a bit of a playful sense of humor.
