Work Text:

16 year old Peter Parker had been New York's friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man for a year now; give or take. He had some assistance from the anti-terrorist organisation Strategic Homeland Intervention Enforcement, Logistics Division or SHIELD for short; even knowing the director Colonel Nick Fury Jr, the son of the famous war hero Nick Fury who worked alongside Captain America himself during World War II.

When told that Fury had a mission for him for the Summer which would take him overseas; he was ecstatic and excited about what it would be...

"I am sorry... It sounded like your mission was to go on a stupid reality TV show..." Peter had retorted incredulously to Fury who had just told him of what he was expected to do.

"You did because that is the mission. What do you know about Total Drama?" Fury asked him as Peter waved it off with big disappointment in his face.

"I know it's infamous for it's dangerous challenges and all the ... Well drama of the teen contestants but I don't really care... I did hear that they encountered an actual serial killer during the first season but that's it..." Peter then said as he knew that the show was popular with those in his age group but he never cared for reality shows; not that he had much friends to discuss it with.

"Well; the host and creator Chris McLean is an infamous host and we have had word he rented the returning location for the new season to a waste disposal groups. We have it in good authority that the waste disposed came from attempts to create super soldiers and superhumans in general. We want you to gather evidence to use against him. We managed to get you selected for the new season as an extra contestant; we changed the submissions to accept another applicant as to not arise suspicion." Fury then said as Peter then batted an eye at him.

"You can do that but you need a teenager to gather evidence for you? Can't you just find it yourself?" Peter asked incredulously as Fury shook his head as he looked to get frustrated.

"I get what you mean but we can't arise suspicion and this takes some out of the box thinking. Try and stay in the competition long enough to gather all the evidence that they need so try and be sociable. Plus make sure to keep your fellow contestants safe while not making your powers noticeable. Don't worry about leaving New York unprotected as we have arranged for some reserve Avengers to look after the city for you." Fury then said as Peter then finally admitted defeat with a sigh.

Peter was there on the cruise; making himself appear the non-physically active nerd and geek that he appeared to be to the students outside his STEM classes. Cameron another teenager seemed to be reluctant to be there and the jock Lightning reminded him of other similar jocks at his schools.

Things started off with a bang... Quite literally...

Peter had no idea why his Spider-Sense was going off hard before the ship blew up; he had to swim to shore along with the rest of the teenagers with Peter wondering how this could be legal.

Chris certainly showed himself to be pretty much a maniacal supervillain and Peter was sorted in the team the Toxic Rats with Lightning and a jerk named Scott... Wonderful...

"This cannot be covered by what we signed... What is he thinking... I know this can't be legal for a fact... Plus they are filming all this..." Peter thought with a gasp as Chris explained the first challenge to take down a giant totem strapped to a bomb...

On top of Chris happily explaining about the waste on the island (on TV) and how it mutated the animals and fauna... That hairless squirrel should be all the evidence that SHIELD needs but probably would need to get more...

Maybe Fury had the right idea to send him there...

"Can't make people suspicious..." Peter thought as he carefully and slowly started climbing up the tree and his fellow Toxic Rats looked up in surpirse to find him there. "What do you think... Harder than what I am used to but my Uncle Ben used to take me rock climbing..." Peter then told them as he then gave a wave as it wasn't a lie as he did go rock climbing with the closest paternal figure he ever had.

Getting them down and having to use it down water and winning the first challenge; Peter actually gave a smile as his team congratulated him. "You got lucky nerd boy... Lightning is the true backbone of the team!" warned Lightning as Peter rolled his eyes as it didn't look like he would be becoming friends with him.

He would need to see about what others in the team he can be on good terms with in order to stop himself from being voted out; he wished Zoey was on his team as she seemed perfectly nice.

Once the Mutant Maggots were sent to vote one of their own out; he made sure that his teammates weren't watching as he jumped and got climbed up atree which had a camera. Placing one of the small undetectable devices that SHIELD gave him. Would allow SHIELD to have access to the camera feed along with the crew of the show; they would be able to see everything, including what wouldn't end up airing. Plus it would also send what SHIELD found to Alpha Flight; basically Canada's answer to the Avengers so they can get prepared to lead a government team to arrest Chris when they are able to.

More he put up; the better and he was told that they could use it to permanently delete any bits of footage which makes it a bit too suspicious of Peter.

He then jumped down and jumped as he saw his teammate Dawn in front of him; a hippie girl who seemed nice but just had problems with social skills. "Dawn... Hey... Was just practicing my rock climbing..." Peter then said thinking of an excuse on the fly.

"Peter; your aura... I sense red and blue..." Dawn whispered with a frown to her face and Peter blinked at that. "Plus... Your heroic and brave nature is admirable to want to look out for those who can't help themselves... But the guilt in you... What happened to your uncle wasn't your fault..." Dawn whispered as Peter failed to fight off the shock and panic on his face from appearing.

"I don't know what you mean..." Peter then said defensibly but he could tell that Dawn wasn't buying it from her face. "So... Are you a telepath; because I think that the contract would have included a Doorman Clause or Canada's equivalent... I know the official term is in Hollywood and US contracts but I know similar clauses are around the world... I maybe breaking it but still..." Peter then asked her in a whisper as he was referring to the official name of the clause that prohibits working actors in mostly Hollywood from being involved in productions if they had super powers.

Dawn giggled and shook her head; "Oh no... I can read and sense aura. It's not exactly reading minds but I can read things about people including parts of their history and what they are like. You are a kind and brave person Peter; even if you don't help your reputation by speaking your mind and can be seen as a 'know it all' from your peers." Dawn explained as Peter then stared at her.

"Thanks..." he said with a sigh but she then frowned.

"I am sorry... I know that I am not good with people my age... I prefer my company with animals as most fellow teenagers see me as 'strange' as those are the more polite and nicer people." Dawn said apologetically with a sigh and Peter then blinked at it.

"Sorry... I know how people can be..." Peter then told her and she nodded. "You know... I was sent here to here to gather evidence and try and stop the mutated animals from killing the other teenagers... Want to help..." Peter asked in a whisper as Dawn then smiled.

"Be my pleasure; horrible what happened to the poor creatures. People can treat the environment and animals horribly and so I hope to use the money if I win to donate to causes to help the animals." Dawn then told him as Peter then blinked.

"Noble and selfless... Mostly I have been thinking about if by some miracle I did win; I would use the money to advance my gear along with helping out my aunt..." Peter then told her as Dawn then took his hand smiling.

"Nothing less noble than wanting to help out someone who means so much from you. I can see that your aunt and uncle were wonderful people who raised a wonderful person." Dawn then said as Peter smiled at her; looks like he found a friend here after all...

Peter thought that things went relatively well for the season; Peter saved Dawn from a blindside and frame job from Scott and sent him out and though neither of them won, Cameron won over the other finalist Lightning. He definitely deserved it more.

They all laughed as Alpha Flight arrived to lead the Canadian authorities in arresting Chris in the water at the end of the season. They got to dry land and Peter and Dawn were saying their goodbyes and exchanged numbers.

"Thanks for everything Dawn... Anything I can do to repay you for your help?" Peter asked as Dawn thought about it.

"Was my pleasure but 2 things I just want in return... You continue being my friend..." Dawn then told him as Peter then nodded but then she got to his ear. "As for the second When you're an Avenger; I want you to see if Thor can take me to Asgard at some point... I want to see the animals there..." Dawn whispered as Peter chuckled and nodded with the two teenagers being red in the face at being close to eachother.

"Come on you two; just kiss already!" Zoey yelled out encouragingly as they became even more red; Peter didn't say anything but was looking forward to keeping in touch with Dawn. Maybe she could even visit somehow at some point or he could visit her. Spider-Man could do with her aura reading and animal talking gifts helping him out as she joked about to him when they were alone quietly.

Imagining her in a costume...
