Not quite strangers

Summary:

A swarla affair fic because I personally can not get over the idea of them being an affair!
(Betsy and Bobby do not exist in this story and I have messed a little with the timeline.)

Notes:

This is my first ever time writing fan fiction! I hope it's okay. I have a few chapters written and a basic outline of how I want the story to go. There are a few bits I'm unsure which direction to take the story in, so be aware of rating changes and new tags. Please let me know what you think. Enjoy!

Chapter 1: just Lisa

Chapter Text

Carla made her way the short distance towards hers and Peter’s flat. She felt confused. Why had she got into a car with someone who was practically a stranger? Anything could have happened.

Rationally, she knew nothing bad was likely to happen. DS Swain is a police officer, a detective, but you hear the horror stories on the news. In the papers, ‘Woman murdered by local bent copper’, it wasn’t a totally irrational. It happened. So she supposed that you can never be too careful.

Reaching her front door, she let herself through and climbed the stairs to the door to her flat. 15a. Once inside, she toed off her shoes and then began to rummage around in the back of her kitchen cupboards for the bottle of wine she kept hidden from Peter.

With a glass of red in her hand, she settled on the sofa. Peter would be back soon.

Carla turned on the TV, desperate for a distraction. No matter which channel she tried, she couldn’t focus. Her mind kept drifting back to the woman in the car.

She was nothing like the formidable detective that Carla had previously seen. The determination she’d worn like armour just…wasn’t there like it was before, on that fateful day in April during Roys arrest, last October when hauling Peter to the station for Stephen’s murder.

She seemed different, she still wore her crisp shirts tucked beneath her sweater vests and her golden hair was still pulled into neat ponytail.

She looked like DS Swain,

but the women in the car...

That, that was Lisa.

Lisa was softer, more human and, god, she was gorgeous.

It wasn’t the thing to be thinking about her…? She wasn’t quite sure what she was.

Enemy? No, too harsh. She never hated her, just disliked her when she took away her loved ones to be questioned.

Friend? No too pally. This was the first conversation that had not been in a professional capacity.

Stranger? No.

Acquaintance? Feels not enough.

Potential friend…?

Carla frowned.

“Hiya love,”
