Work Text:
Ruby and Book walked through the streets of Yoyle city. Ruby suddenly stopped as they reached the location they were heading to.
“Here it is! Book, can you explore this building with meee?” Ruby pleaded doing her usual puppy eyes at Book. The building looked very old and run down.
“A live here hotel? That doesn’t sound right.” Book felt unsure about going in the building, but she had to keep an eye on Ruby because Pencil said so.
“But I wanna see ittttt. PLEAAASSEEEE” Ruby was practically on her knees begging.
Book sighed. “Fine. But you better stay close to me!”
“YAYYY” Ruby cheered, jumping with joy. “Cmon! I wanna see what's in here!” Ruby dragged Book inside the hotel and eagerly looked around the reception area.
“Ruby- I think you should calm down, I don’t like the vibes of this place…” Book tried pulling Ruby back to slow her down a bit.
“Book! You worry too much! You should learn to not worry as much.” Ruby then accidentally knocked over a vase, shattering it ( AHHAHAH BFDIA 23 MENTION- sorry Ill see myself out. ) “OH MY FUCKING GOD RUBY, WHY” Book shouted at Ruby.
“...apologies. Won't happen again.” Ruby said as she stood there innocently in front of the shattered vase.
“Anyway- Im sure you are done exploring for now- so lets go back-” Ruby grabbed Book’s arm before she took one step backwards.
“There is still a lot to explore though…”
Book groaned. “Can we just get out of here to make sure you are safe?” Ruby just stared at her with a sad expression. “Tch...do what you want Ruby.. At least there's a recovery centre if anything goes wrong..” Ruby’s eyes lit up with excitement.
“Alright! Let's go to the first floor!”
Both girls eventually arrived at the floor with the bad, fancy, decent and iffy rooms.
“GASP! BOOK LOOK!” Ruby pointed at the red, leaf shaped mirror that was on the wall at the end of the hallway. In an instant, Ruby dashed towards it. “It’s red like me!”
“Uh. WHY would there even be a mirror like this at the end of a hallway?...” Book questioned while walking towards Ruby.
“Decoration. Duh” Ruby said while lowering her eyebrows.
“Ohthatmakessense” Book looked at the mirror for a few seconds.
“Ehh- I feel like we shouldn't mess with this- RUBY WHAT ARE YOU DOING PUT THAT DOWN” Ruby held the mirror planning to steal it.
“Whaaat? It’s only a mirror. Plus, this place is abandoned. Nobody's gonna miss a mirror, Book.” A second after Ruby said that the lights suddenly broke making the hallway pitch black. “Maybe they will miss a mirror-”
“RUBY YOU DOOMED US!!” Book held on tightly onto Ruby.
“Okay okay- uh- maybe we-can make our way o-out of here-” Ruby said as both girls tried to make their way out of the hallway.
“WHYAREYOUSTILLHOLDINGTHEMIRROR??!!” Book whisper-shouted at Ruby.
“ITLOOKEDNICE!!! FINDERSKEEPERS!!!!” Ruby whisper-shouted back at Book.
“WELLMAYBERETURNITBEFORE-” Book stopped mid sentence as Evil Leafy suddenly appeared in front of them, illuminating the hallway with her red glow. Both girls screamed and ran back to the dead end of the hallway.
“SHITSHITSHIT WHAT DO WE DO???!!!” Ruby screamed.
“I-I DON’T KNOW- THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT RUBY”
Both girls yelped as Evil Leafy teleported right in front of them. But she didn’t do anything.
“H-huh? W-what’s she doing-” Book slightly waved at Evil Leafy. “Unresponsive…”
Evil Leafy then started to teleport in a horizontal line making some sort of morse code.
“Wait- I'm a morse code translation book and-"
“Of course you are..” Book stared at Ruby with a stern expression before continuing her sentence.
“I think Evil Leafy is saying…….To return the mirror…Ruby-”
“WHAAAT NO, I'M KEEPING THIS I FOUND IT.” Evil Leafy screeched at Ruby after hearing that response.
“RUBY JUST PUT THE BLOODY MIRROR BACK YOU IDIOT-”
“FINE” Ruby placed the mirror back on the wall and then Evil Leafy disappeared as the lights flickered back on.
“Nice job Ruby! Now lets GET OUT OF HERE-”
They eventually both got out of the hotel, relieved that Evil Leafy didn’t kill them.
“Ruby, can we go explore something that is NOT cursed next time?” Book suggested with a worried expression.
“Sure thing! I have learned my lesson on not stealing things that are not mine and-”
Ruby was cut off as Book noticed her holding the mirror behind her back.
“WHYDIDYOUGRABTHEMIRRORAGAINYOUFREAKINGMORON-”
