"WELL!! My cutie cupcake cousins!"
Caine's voice echoed through the circus as he appeared in a flash of colourful sparks.
"Today's adventure is.."
He paused.
"MONDAY MASACURE!"
Everyone stared.
"You must fight off NPC zombies.."
A giant screen appeared behind him showing a terrifyingly cheerful high school gym.
"..inside a completely normal, totally safe, definitely haunted high school!"
Zooble immediately turned around.
"Not doing this."
They started walking away.
"ZOOBLE."
Caine's voice boomed.
He snapped his fingers.
A second later, Zooble vanished and reappeared beside the others.
"Seriously?"
Caine smiled.
"Now! Find the exit, survive the zombie invasion, and remember.."
His grin widened.
"Teamwork makes the dream work!"
Pomni barely listened.
She was too busy avoiding looking at Jax.
After everything that happened..
After everything he said.
Instead, Jax stood across from her with that same stupid grin, like the argument hadn't bothered him at all.
"Alright, everyone!" Ragatha called. "Let's split up and search for clues!"
Pomni immediately moved with the group.
A sudden crash shook the building.
The lights flickered.
The gym doors slammed shut.
"Uh.."
Gangle looked around nervously.
"Was that supposed to happen?".
Everyone turned.
They stared at the locked doors
The walls shook and zooble and gangle were thrown down the hall. Ragatha and kinger were sliding down the slide of the building
The floor beneath them split apart.
Pomni barely had time to react before she fell.
A hand grabbed hers.
Jax.
Then the ground gave way completely.
The two of them dropped into darkness.
Pomni woke up with a groan.
Her head hurt.
The room was dark.
And the first thing she heard was
"Well, this is awkward."
She froze.
Slowly, she looked over.
Jax was sitting a few feet away, brushing dust off his overalls
Of all people.
Him.
"You're kidding."
Jax raised an eyebrow.
"What? Missed me already?"
"No."
"Wow. Harsh."
She stood up, looking around.
The room was some kind of storage closet.
No windows.
Just old gym equipment stacked against the walls.
Then came the sound.
A distant groan.
A zombie.
Then another.
Pomni swallowed.
"Tell me we're not trapped."
Jax walked over to the door and tried the handle.
Locked.
He pulled again.
Nothing.
"...We're trapped."
Pomni stared at him. She dusted her cartoony jester outfit and sat down on the floor.
