Work Text:
Silence
That was the first thing that filled the room.
Like an overly loud crowd in a stadium, going still when something grave happens to their favorite team. Or a cheery moment, suddenly switching into something so starkly dark in contrast to previous moments.
That feeling when everything is perfectly serene, that nothing is there to bother you, or the moment.
Only to have it change, akin to a light switch being flicked off.
It’s…sudden, like it wasn't supposed to happen..at least not like this.
Because, the thing is..nobody can suspect it, it takes you by surprise. One moment, everything's fine, and then….poof, everything's flipped upside down.
As I peered into the room, the only thing my eyes could possible choose to focus on
Was the body in the room.
Impossibly still
almost like a puppet, hung by the string
Or in this case
A rope.
No sound
No breathing
No twitching or struggle
Just stillness.
Or rather…
Silence.
