Chapter Text
By the ripe age of 4, Nova was used to being ignored.
Her Father did not want her, she was a symbol of his traumatic past and a reminder of his wrongdoing under the mountain. A mere distraction from the idyllic life he had now built himself since Amarantha's defeat.
Her Mother was dead. Yet, in a twisted way, Nova missed her. A pang in her chest, a small part of her that wondered whether things would be different for her if her Mother had lived. While cruel, her Mother had wanted her. That was all the small fae craved at the moment.
While Rhysand was not necessarily a neglectful Father, he most definitely did not want Nova anywhere near him. He much preferred to spend time with his two year old son, Nyx, and his mate, Feyre.
He forbade her from leaving the river house, only for brief walks with her Nanny, whom showed just as little interest as everyone else.
The small girl became increasingly bored and tired of the monotony of this life.
One morning, after waking early in her bland, small box room in the attic of the house, as far away as anyone could possibly put the child, Nova noticed a shadow swirling through her hair.
It whispered: "Its okay Miss Nova, you aren't alone anymore"
