“Well, we’re here.” Rantaro spoke up, hoping off his parked motorcycle, turning to face the blue-haired boy that had been sitting behind him. “Here, let me help you off.” The green-haired offered softly, holding out his hand for him.
Shuichi smiled in response, putting his hand into Rantaro’s and letting himself get helped off. “Even from the start, it already looks so cool…” He was looking up at the trail ahead of them.
Rantaro, being the adventurous person he was, loved going on hikes and trekking trails. And what way to make it better other than bringing his favourite person with him?
So here they were. At the base of one of Rantaro’s favourite (local) trails, getting ready for a hike. It wasn’t that long of a trail, only around 2-3 hours in length. They wouldn’t need much gear- besides hiking boots and a water bottle.
Taking Shuichi’s hand in his, Rantaro started to guide him towards the trail ahead. “C’mon, Shu. I just know you’ll love the view once we get up there.” He looks back at Shuichi with a grin.
“I’ll be trusting you on that.” It didn’t take much for Shuichi to tell that Rantaro was excited about this. Even if the humanoid avocado tried not to make it that obvious. He could tell from his body language.
The path on the way up wasn’t that bad. There was a lot of rocks, but not many were loose enough to cause any issues. Shuichi had tripped on one of the roots coming up through the ground, but Rantaro had caught him in time before he had hit the ground. The two had laughed it off, continuing on with their hike.
Up ahead, Shuichi could hear a loud, booming sound, echoing across the forest as it collided with the water below. He couldn’t pinpoint what it was for a moment, until his eyes widened and he looked over to meet Rantaro’s gaze, who was looking at him smugly. “Idiot, you didn’t tell me there was going to be a waterfall..!!” Laughed Shuichi, already quickening his pace.
“See, told you you’d love it.” Rantaro commented, matching his pace with Shuichi’s. No matter how many times he hikes this trail, he still gets awed whenever he gets to see the magnificent sight. Now, he gets to show it to his lovely boyfriend too.
A few minutes later, right before they would round the corner, Rantaro gently stopped Shuichi. “C’mere, I wanna get your reaction when you see it.” The green-haired reached up gently, covering Shuichi’s eyes with his hand. “Trust me?”
“Always.” Shuichi smiled, letting Rantaro know he trusted him. He held out his hand until Rantaro placed his other hand in his. He squeezed gently, waiting for Rantaro to guide him. “If you make me trip, I’ll push you into the water,” Shuichi lightheartedly joked.
“I’ll hold you to that, Dear.” Hummed Rantaro, who let go of Shuichi’s hand for a quick moment to ruffle his hair before he went back to holding his hand.
Whatever response that Shuichi had planned in his head got caught in his throat once he heard the name Rantaro had called him. His ears turned pink, but he decided not to acknowledge that fact.
It was cute.
Rantaro just smiled softly at his reaction, gently starting to guide him back down the path. He didn’t exactly have to cover Shuichi’s eyes, but it just made the sight way more amazing in the end, so he decided he would.
A few seconds later, Rantaro slowed Shuichi to a stop, gently positioning him so he’d get the best view. “Ready?”
“Mhm.”
And with that, Rantaro uncovered Shuichi’s eyes.
He couldn’t believe his eyes. This sight was unfathomably beautiful. Water poured from the river above, gracefully falling into the lower river with a mighty sound. There was a small cave behind the waterfall, allowing the continuance of the trail which had transformed into stepping stones, leading across to the other side. Small crystal stones littered the rocks at the bottom of the clear water, essentially making the water glow with a brilliant light. Even the grass around it seemed perfect, a nice bright green- with mist from the waterfall keeping it fresh and healthy. It was essentially breathtaking.
“…woah.” That was the only words Shuichi managed to get out, speechless from the amazing sight before him.
“Pretty, isn’t it?” Rantaro hummed softly, wrapping his arms around his lovely boyfriend and resting his head on Shuichi’s shoulder. He refrained from adding a ‘just like you’ to his comment, wanting to let Shuichi take in the sight. He was watching Shuichi’s face, looking at him fondly.
“It’s so pretty…” Shuichi finally turned to look at Rantaro, his expression softening when he saw Rantaro’s face. “Silly.”
Shuichi gently took Rantaro’s hand, untangling himself from his arms. “Now c’mon, you still gotta show me the cave behind the waterfall.” he hummed softly, gently tugging on Rantaro’s hand to get him to lead the way.
The green-haired grinned, taking the hint and leading the navy-haired over to the stepping stones. “Hold on to me, Mkay? Tightly.” Rantaro glanced back at him, making sure Shuichi was holding his arm before gently guiding him across the rocks.
The rocks were kind of slippery, so they were trying their best to be careful. Though even then, accidents are unavoidable and Shuichi ended up tripping. Luckily, since he had been holding onto Rantaro, he had been spared a tumble into the churning water underneath and had been caught by Rantaro.
“I’m glad that you were holding onto me…” Rantaro mumbled, laughing softly as he pulled him close. He ruffled Shuichi’s hair softly. His hair was damp now, due to the waterfall drenching the cave with a mighty sound.
The cave was kind of dark, since not much light made it past the water. There was only enough of a glow from the crystal stones below that lit the cave up enough that they were able to see each other’s faces.
Glancing down at Shuichi’s lips, Rantaro could tell they were trembling slightly from the water. He smiled fondly, cupping his face gently to get him to look up at him. “I’m glad you decided to come here with me…” muttered Rantaro, meeting his gaze.
“Dummy, why wouldn’t I come here with you?” Smiled Shuichi in response, leaning up to gentle kiss his cheek.
Rantaro pouted, leaning down slightly so that they would be head level with Shuichi. “Dearest, you misseddd…” he mumbled, playfully tapping his lips.
Shuichi rolled his eyes, leaning in to gently kiss him on his lips this time. Rantaro held him there for a second, trying to make it last as long as he could.
Once they pulled apart, Rantaro muttered to him, “Thank you, Dear.” He giggled in amusement that his pouting had actually worked.
Shuichi laughed softly in response, shaking his head. “You dummy..,” He mumbled to himself, reaching out to gently flick Rantaro’s forehead.
Rantaro reached out and squeezed Shuichi’s hand. He could feel something, moving from his arms toward his heart.
And what he felt?
Surely was a spark.
