Work Text:
Minho doesn’t realise he’s awake, too, until Chan blinks at him.
“...Chan-ah?”
“Mhmm?”
Such a sad, little exhausted sound. Minho resecures his arm around Chan’s mountainous shoulder and shudders to think he’s lost his sleep again after so many hours of non-stop work.
“Aish, Chan-ah, how long have you been awake?”
“Not long.” And Chan yawns.
“Go back to sleep, Chan-ah, it’s too early,” Minho says gently. A quick look at the bedside clock shows there’s at least two more hours till they have to make a run for today’s rehearsals. “I’ll wake you up later, okay?”
“But Minnnnn, I gotta tell you about this dream I had!” Chan pouts. “You were there...”
Why does Chan have to look at him that fondly? Of course he can't say no.
“Okay, what’d you dream?”
“Weeeellllllll… you and I were in bed, like this…”
For that Minho jabs him in his naked ribs. Chan yelps in laughter, fluffy blonde halo and his dimples in shadow-light.
“Wait! Wait! But then I woke up in the dream, and I turned around — and saw that you’d turned into a rabbit!”
“Huh, I turned into Leebit?”
“No, you were an actual rabbit,” Chan says like he’s going to glomp Minho and tussle them till they’re upside down in bed again. “You were all fluffy with this snow white fur, this soft belly and ears and tail and you were so unbearably cute!”
“And then I pooped in the bed?”
Chan bursts into a fit of tiny giggles. “No! No, you got sniffly and started biting my finger when I tried to boop your little nose.”
“That’s more like it.”
“I wanted to hold you tight…" Chan says, voice full of longing. "Eat you all up… kiss you all night…”
“You dreamt you cheated on me with a rabbit,” Minho snarks.
“But the rabbit was you! I knew it was you!” Chan laughs even harder. “You seemed to know it was me, too.”
“So you’re saying you’d still love me if I turned into a rabbit.”
“Mm-hmm!”
“What if you dreamt that I’d turned into a…” Minho racks his mind for a truly grotesque creature. “...a cockroach?”
“Are you a big cockroach or a small one?”
“A HUGE one. Huge and scary with feelers rubbing your face.”
“Then it’s a lit-tle hard to tell,” Chan hums. “I guess if I knew it was you, I could probably get over it.”
Minho jabs him again. Quicker, as is Chan's jubilant yelp of surprise.
“You’re crazy.”
Chan’s definitely more awake now, though his smile’s still gummy behind his share of the blanket, giggly and squirmy. Minho sighs and scooches closer to Chan, softening once more, hand dropping down from his shoulder to his neck.
“You do that to me,” Minho hears him say as he rubs the nape of Chan’s neck. “I’m crazy for you. No matter what form you take. Even if you were a cockroach or a rabbit...” he says, and Minho’s heart squeezes terribly in his sleepy haze. The very few parts of him that aren’t touching Chan, pressed up close to his nose and lips and chin and the rest of his body, shudder from being unwarmed by him.
“Sleep, Chan-ah. Keep dreaming of rabbits,” Minho holds him, his other hand coming up to touch his face, overwhelmed from not doing so. “And I’ll dream that you turned into Wolfchan so you’re more cuddly.”
“You’d rather hug Wolfie over me?” Chan complains.
“Yeah, he doesn’t fart as much.”
Chan whines his name and it wanes into a deep yawn. If Minho kisses him now, it will wake the both of them through and through, and they’ll be dragging their bones to the practice room. He settles for holding Chan closer than close, threading his hand in Chan's hair, letting Chan nuzzle his neck as they drift off again.
It’s still dark outside, still hours before they have to be anywhere that isn’t in bed together. Only when Minho’s sure Chan’s breathing has steadied between his slightly parted lips and there’s visions of wolves loving rabbits behind his eyes does Minho dip his head down.
With his last bit of strength before sleep takes over him too, Minho presses his own lips to Chan’s.
His own dream come true.
