Chapter Text
Prologue
This kingdom is home to magical monsters, some human, others not. But do not dismiss it so lightly. It is far more than you could ever imagine, a place where legends will be made, bonds forged, and empires reduced to dust. This is the story of a fox that becomes a wolf.
There is one ruling class, named after the kingdom’s founder, Caput. His tale is so old that it is hard to distinguish lies from truth. Caput was a great man, a man whose name deserves to be engraved into history as a saviour who held the realm together when the world burned.
Caput was the Crown Prince of a country far across the Endless Ocean. He was blessed with the power of divine light. He and his three brothers embarked on a treacherous voyage to build a new civilisation and flee the treachery that had sunk its claws into their people’s hearts. Realising that the princes would not bend to the same darkness that had consumed them, the people chased the brothers away.
Arriving in a new kingdom, the brothers met the natives. The locals were wary of these strangers, but after the brothers saved them from the darkness in their land, they devoted themselves to the princes. They became Caput’s loyal subjects.
Caput established a new kingdom called Alynthi with his brothers and made them his trusted advisors and generals. Each brother was given a house named after the animal he represented.
Caput, known as the most capable of all the brothers, founded the royal house. His descendants were blessed with great light.
Elliot, infamous for his weak physical strength but praised for his vast intelligence, founded the house of Stix. His descendants were blessed with incredible knowledge and memory.
Barret was a marvel, blessed with uncanny strength, but he did not possess rational thinking. His house was called Aper, and his descendants were incredibly strong.
Slyvain was famous as a trickster who also knew when to exercise calculated caution. His house was called Vulpes, and his descendants were known for their cunning and flaming red hair.
Now, many centuries later, the age has changed. The natives are scorned as mere peasants. Only those with pure royal blood are honoured and permitted to join the houses. The darkness has crossed the Endless Ocean at last and taken root in Alynthi. And into the house of Vulpes, a girl is born—one with hair as black as night, as if fate itself had marked her for greatness.
