Day one of Fiddeauthor week 2026
Lockers and Campus shenanigans

Meet my roomate. I opened the door and mat who would me my flatmate. A Fiddleford mcgucket from Tennessee. After validating the theory on if the universe is a hologram, running on fumes and the left over caffine, F. Suggested we head to the showers to wash up before salvaging whats left of the night or morning, When we entered the showers there was only one locker left. We didn't mind sharing as it was going to be a quick shower.

In our knackered state, I joked if it was possible for 2 people to fit inside. Before I finished my sentence F. grabbed my arm and yanked both of us inside. For a farmer his grip strength was ridiculously strong.
The first few seconds we were squirming around trying to fit, the area was tight F. Neck was cocked to the side While I was sitting on a stack of magazines that were coloured like a rainbow for some reason. There was no room for either of us to move leaving my head resting on his chest.
I could hear his heart rate increase through the wool sweater. Mine also spiked until both of hearts match the same yet opposing beats per minute. For every thump of F. heart there was an opposing bump in mine. To take my mind off i tried to stare at the roof and accidentally locked eyes with him, there wasn't anything else to glace at, so we accepted the awkwardness. I noticed even in the shadowed space of the locker his remained visible, moonlit pools that seemed to gather the fainted glimmer from the lights above. The freckles on his cheeks made it look like he was dusted in golden ash.
His muted bronze hair looked more like dried glass than sun kissed gold in the day.
I couldn't take my eyes off of him, i accidentally muttered "you look lovely fi-" before stopping myself. I mean there wasnt any point in hiding as he was in earshot. Tge accidental compliment acted as as a spark; his sun kissed skin seemed ignited, turning from soft gold to a burning scarlet in seconds.
"You're not to bad looking either Stanford"

I felt the rush of blood slam into my face and vent through my ears.
The locker began to feel humid, maybe it was the showers or our combined sweat. We stayed frozen in our spots then I wondered what would it look like if someone came to help us as our faces were brick red.

Fidds perspective:

I was taken back by a boisterous guy, he shouted "Finally someone who believes the universe is also a hologram!"
That's one way to meet a roomate. A jersy boi Stanford F. Pines, The first thing I noticed was the thermos of coffee. He shared a cup and got to drinking and calculating. After god know how many hours both of us looked withered. Stanfrod was about to fall asleep until I nudged him to wash up first as both of reeked of ink, caffine and bo.
"I'll pass were so close of finishing I can't lose this smell of science". Ford mumbled as he tried to pull post it notes off his face. Which wouldn't come off without waxing his face in the process. After the last shreik and note was removed of his face he defeatingly said" Fine you may have a point ill take a shower".

After staggering all the way from our dorm to the washrooms.
I noted there was only one locker left, but both of us didn't mind sharing. Before we placed out stuff in ford jokingly slurred "I wonder if 2 people can fit in here". I happily grabbed his arm and tried to to perform a human jenga in the thight space. Once we were inside, we spent a considerable amount of time shuffing around trying to fit comfortably. Until we found a manageable position. Stanford unfortunately had to crouch to make room for my head and hair. As he was pressed on my chest my heart rate began to beat faster than a piston engine. I've never been so upclose to anyone and I could sense his heart was also pounding in return though he tried to maintian his poker face, until we locked eyes. Maybe it was the dim lit area of the lockers but the little bit of light reflected off his lenses, behind the glint of his frames his brown eyes ceased to be dark pools knowledge, they ignited wide and shimmering with a panic that matched my own.
He was a coilled spring of a guy down there. His broader frame folded tight in the lower half of the locker. We ended up locking eyes.
I was eiree for a couple of seconds until I heard ford mutter "you look lovely f-" before covering his mouth. That was an unexpected turn but maybe that was his style of confessing, a plar opposite to the guy that brust opened our dorm room earlier. I didnt want him to feel ashamed for a harmless compliment. I said
"You're not to bad looking either Stanford". And his face instantly flushed red and pressed further into my chest. There was no point in hiding, that was one way of knowing about your flatmate, and knowing more about each other in the most unlikely way.
Stanford and I began to sweat buckets adding to the humidity as our faces remained red. If help wasn't on the way would it be wrong for me to say I'd rather stay in there for a few more minutes.
