You woke up to the sound of Pidove cooing outside your window. As you roll over and check your phone, you realize what day it was. Your best friend N wanted to go to an amusement park with you! You knew N loved ferris wheels, so you definitely saw this coming when he suggested a place to get together. Although the last time you both were together on a ferris wheel, things got very awkward once he told you he was the king of Team Plasma. But a lot of time has passed since then. You and your Pokémon changed N's heart and made him realize most Pokémon trainers weren't bad as he was groomed to think. On the day his heart changed, He flew away on his Reshiram and took time for himself and thought about his new life while reflecting on his past. He was away for a couple of months but always sent you cute pictures of Pokémon he found out in the wild! Sometimes, he would even video call you to show you them as well! You always appreciated what a kind soul he was to everything around him. You really missed him while he was gone and really were looking forward to seeing him today! Deep down in your heart, you felt a new feeling. A very warm and fluttery feeling and made your heart skip a beat at the thought of being next to his side. You shook your head, dismissing the thoughts immediately, and ignored them.
You put the finishing touches on your makeup as you looked in the mirror. You put on something different than your regular trainer outfit for today. A pink sundress with your long hair in a pretty white bow and cute white shoes to match. You probably wouldn't be battling or catching any Pokémon so you thought you would wear something cute! You spritzed yourself with vanilla and cotton candy perfume and started daydreaming about the giant cotton candies they have at the amusement park! You smiled and blushed at the thought of N sharing one with you. You shook your head again! "It's not a date!" You thought to yourself. But maybe something deep down inside you really wanted it to be?
You walked up to the amusement park entrance. N was already there waiting for you!
"Oh, hello, Y/N! I'm glad we could meet here today!" He said with a smile while waving to you.
"Hey N! It's good to see you! I'm glad you're back here in Unova!" You said eagerly. He chuckled.
"I'm glad to be back home myself. Although I did have a really good vacation out in the wild. I'm glad you enjoyed my updates as well! I thought you would like the pictures of all the different Pokémon I met."
"I did! I'm glad you had fun and time to yourself! It looked like a much needed vacation." You said
"Yeah. It was very much needed indeed." N looked down as the painful moments he had with his "father" replayed through his head. He took a deep breath in and sighed, still very hurt from his past. You knew exactly what he was thinking about. You were there to witness the fight between Ghetsis and N. Anthea and Concordia told you all about their little brother's painful past as well.
"Let's not think about that now, okay? Why don't we talk about that another time? Let's enjoy ourselves at the park today! I wanna have some fun!" You said and giggled, trying to cheer up your friend. N looked up at you with a smile.
"I suppose you are right. Let's go and have some fun then!"
You both walked into the park. There were tons of people all walking around besides you with their Pokémon! Some of them had matching headbands and treats! You giggled at a little Minccino wearing a headband with big mouse ears! You tapped N and pointed over to it. He seemed perplexed.
"Is it a common thing for people to dress up their Pokémon? I sense that the Minccino enjoys it oddly enough." N said to you. You laughed.
"Yes! Trainers love dressing up their Pokémon in cute outfits! Not just headbands!" You explained to him. He laughed.
"Well, I guess there was one time where Anthea and Concordia tried putting one of their dresses on Darmanitan." He shook his head and laughed. "Although he didn't seem to care for it quite that much." He smiled as he remembered one of the few happy moments from his childhood.
"I would kill to see that! I bet he looked so funny!" You snorted.
"It was quite a sight!" He added while laughing. You were so happy to see him smile. He's been through so much. When you first met him, you thought it was impossible for a guy like him to smile. But that day he realized the truth, you saw his biggest smile yet. And it was directly at you.
As you were walking through the park, N suddenly froze and looked up. You looked over at him, confused.
"Everything okay?" You asked before turning around to see the giant ferris wheel. N's eyes had a sparkle in them as he started running towards the ride. "H-hey! N! Wait for meeee!" You yelled as you chased after him. N loved ferris wheels! He loved riding them and learning the mechanics about how they worked. You thought it was kinda cute he had such a deep interest in them. Some nights while he was on vacation, he texted you paragraphs about different ones throughout Unova. You didn't quite understand it all, but you enjoyed listening to him talk about his special interest. You were glad he was discovering things he should've started liking in his childhood. But you knew he was robbed of a normal one.
N sat across from you in the cabin as you both slowly started rising in the air. He looked happily out the window and smiled as he started to point out all the buildings in Nimbasa City. You and N made up a little game on who could count the most balloons and you won! N chuckled at your win and slowly sighed.
"You know this time is very different than when we first came here," N had said. You looked down at your feet.
"I don't want you thinking about the past anymore! You know I'm over it! I don't think of you any differently N. I promise. Today has been great so far, and I want to keep it great! There will be another time when we can talk about the bad. Your emotions are valid, and you deserve to express them. Okay?" You looked up at him with a soft smile. N looked at you with a bit of a shocked expression.
"No one's.. ever said that to me before." He smiled softly as well. "But thank you, Y/N. That means a lot to me." He also said. Your heart skipped a beat. You suddenly realized it was just the two of you alone together. Both looking at eachother in the eyes. You started to blush but quickly brought up another window game to play as you felt the cabin start going down slowly. While you two were playing the game, N rambled quickly on and on about how the ferris wheel is able to turn. Your heart filled with happiness with each word he said.
After you two got off the ferris wheel, you spotted a cotton candy cart. Your eyes sparkled as you acted exactly like N when he saw the ride earlier and ran towards it. N laughed, calling your name chasing behind you.
"One green apple cotton candy, please!" You ordered.
"I'll take a pink cotton candy as well," N ordered. Before you could even pull your wallet out, N gave the money to the employee. "Have a treat on me! For making me feel better!" He said while handing you your cotton candy. You smiled and blushed a bit.
"You really didn't have to! But thank you! I'm surprised you didn't want the kind I got since it looks like your hair!" You say with a giggle, holding the cotton candy up next to N's hair.
"You're right! It really does! I'm glad my hair isn't really made out of cotton candy, though. I think all my Pokémon friends would've eaten it by now!" N said and chuckled.
"Like this?!" You took a big bite out of the green puff.
"Hey! Not my hair!" N laughed even more pretending you were eating his hair.
"Maybe I'll get green apple next time! I bet I would like it. I wanted pink because I've been smelling it since I got here!" He added while taking a bite of his pink puff. You giggled to yourself, knowing that he was smelling your perfume!
"Here, you can have a bite of mine!" You said while holding out your cotton candy. "Thank you!" N took a big bite.
"My hair tastes delicious!" He joked. "Here, try some of mine!" He held out his cotton candy, and you took a big bite.
"Mmmm, that's so good! We are definitely swapping flavors next time!" You blushed and remembered your thought earlier this morning. This was going exactly like a date! You quickly finished your cotton candy, but that didn't stop you from thinking even more romantic thoughts about your friend next to you. N definitely noticed something was off.
"Y/N? Something the matter? Is it too hot outside? You look quite flushed." He said, concerned about your health. You panicked.
"I-I'm fine! Don't worry about me! Let's go have more fun!" You said running off in front of him. N smiled warmly as he followed you.
"Whatever you say then!"
You both had so much fun at the amusement park. You rode so many different rides, played fun games, and ate a lot of fun food together into the sunset. You really didn't want this day to end. You couldn't help but look at N while he wasn't looking sometimes and blush. You couldn't dismiss your feelings anymore. You were falling for your best friend. The way he smiles, the way he laughs, his soft hair, his attention to detail, even his yapping! You were starting to fall for it all. You really hoped he felt the same way back, but you were unsure how N would feel about a relationship. You knew he was alone most of the time growing up. And the only love he had was the love he had for his sisters and his Pokémon. So him loving someone romantically was completely out of the question even though he was in his early 20s like you. You knew this would be a hard conversation if you ever confessed one day. But just for now, you daydreamed about having a future together with N.
The sun completely set over the town. The amusement parks fireworks were about to start! N looked at you with a mischievous smirk.
"I have an idea! Let's ride the ferris wheel again one last time and watch the fireworks at the very top!" He suggested. You rolled your eyes and smiled.
"You just want an excuse to ride the ferris wheel again!" You teased. N shrugged.
"Okay, you got me. But wouldn't it be so much fun to view them up from that high!?"
"Oh whatever lets just go!" You both ran over to the ferris wheel getting back in the same cabin you had before. You both slowly started to rise up as the fireworks boomed and popped outside the cabin window. Suddenly, the wheel came to a complete stop while you two were at the very top. "Huh? Why did it stop?" You asked.
"You don't know? The ferris wheel stops while the fireworks show happens! We got lucky to be stopping at the very top!" N replied. It finally started to set in how high you were. And you were stuck up here for the whole fireworks show! You began to have a worried look on your face and began trembling. N looked at you with a worried expression. "I probably should've told you it stops for a long time. I'm sorry, Y/N! You did fine the other times we rode it, I thought you would be okay with it." He apologized. You held onto the seat with you, dear life.
"I-its okay! I'll be okay! Let's just uh focus on the fireworks! That will help!" You shakily replied. N scooted over on his seat and patted the empty spot beside him.
"Here, come sit next to me! It will help!" He happily offered. You immediately got up and sat next to him. This made your feeling 100% worse. Sitting so close to your crush hundreds of feet in the air was not a good idea at all. You were so close to him that you could see the reflection of the fireworks in his icy blue eyes. He smelled like pine trees in a forest full of flowers on a sunny day. His soft smile on his face as you sat next to him. The height. The booming fireworks. The small cramped space. It all started to overwhelm you.
"Feeling better?" He asked. No. No, you weren't at all.
"I'm fine!" You lied. N smiled even more.
"I'm glad I could make you feel better. Thank you so much for spending the day with me, by the way. It feels good to be back in Unova." N said.
"You're welcome! I had a lot of fun today as well too!" You replied back, trying to hide your nervousness.
"I would love to do this again sometime with you. While I was away, I thought about you a lot and came up with so many adventures we can go on!" N said. Your face went really red. You couldn't handle this anymore.
"You thought about me a lot?" You bluntly asked.
"I-" That question completely struck N off-guard. A blush started to slowly appear on his face as he looked down and rubbed his arm. A few seconds of awkward silence passed. "I've never felt this feeling in my heart. Y/N, whenever I'm with you, I feel the same happiness I get when I'm around my Pokémon. But, It's much deeper than that this time. I would love it if we could always be together. I-" He paused. "I'm in love with you." He bluntly admitted. You were shocked! You didn't think he would feel the same about you! A big smile formed on your face.
"I-I feel the same way!" You confessed too as you wrapped your arms around him, pulling him into a big hug. He slowly wrapped his arms around you back, hugging you tightly. You both stayed like this for what felt like an eternity. When you tried pulling away, he held onto you even tighter. You realized he probably never got hugged much in his life, and he really needed this. You let out a soft giggle. After a little bit, you both looked at each other with soft eyes. He leaned forward, and suddenly, his lips were against yours. You both kissed each other while pretty pink fireworks surrounded you both. You wished this moment could last forever. N pulled away and giggled.
"That was my first kiss. Was that good?" He said with a slight blush. You giggled as well.
"It was perfect N." You reached over and held his hand. He squeezed your hand as you two interlocked fingers. The ferris wheel finally started to move back down as the fireworks came to an end.
"Oh, it looks like we are starting to go down now. Just keep holding onto my hand. I'll keep you safe." He reassured you. Your heart melted at his words.
As much as you didn't want this day to end, it was time to go home. N offered to walk you back to your home. You two walked all the way back to your house, holding hands! You finally arrived at your doorstep.
"Thank you again for today. I had a lot of fun." You said. N pulled you into a hug.
"Thank you too. You don't know how much I needed a day like this." He said. You hugged N back.
"Have a good night, okay? I'll talk to you tomorrow!" You said.
"You too. Get a good night's rest!" N brushed your hair out of your face and gently kissed your forehead.
"I'll be dreaming about you, cutie!" You teased. He giggled.
"I-I love you! Goodnight."
"I-I love you too! Night night!" You said in return.
A little while later, your phone buzzed with a text from N.
"I had the most perfect night ever. I can't wait to begin our relationship and experience new feelings together. I've never felt love like this before with anyone. So please let me know if I'm doing well. I want you to make you the happiest girl in all of Unova! Sweet dreams Y/N" He finished the text with a green heart and a ferris wheel emoji. You giggled as you texted back.
"I'm already the happiest girl in Unova when you're by my side! Thank you too for the perfect night! Sweet dreams!" You followed your text with a pink heart and a pink tulip emoji.
You slowly drifted off to sleep, replaying the whole night in your head, looking forward to your next journey together!
