Of Explosions and Strings!

Summary:

“I’m going to win.” And it was the first time he had ever smiled at her.

But what he didn’t know was that there was a small sparkle that tingled on the tip of their pinky fingers. She watched the thread mend its way over to her hand, encircling itself just below the nail.

“I’ll make sure you won’t.”

It didn’t matter if he could see it or not. What mattered was—

’I choose you.’

She knew who she wanted.

Chapter 1: Eyes Off

Chapter Text

She could not take her eyes off him.

The boy leaned forward as he walked. His hand tucked into the pocket of his pants as he stared ahead.

Red.

Bloodshot eyes. Along with the slight tint of caramel.

Fierce.

His other hand stayed still, slightly wavering. He didn’t have a smile on his lips either, only pulling up to reach for his phone—-

She traced his footsteps, her hand reaching out.

“KYAA! IT’S BAKUGO!” Someone screamed. Dozens of eyes turned into his direction. A few had gasped, some of their eyes had widened but most importantly, footsteps were growing nearer.

The said blonde was about to take a peek over his shoulder. She slid to her right, her back gracing against concrete.

“Haa…?”

He turned, raising one brow but what he hadn’t expected was a tall shadow to tower over him, along with several new faces.

That was the start of his sprint.

“BAKUGO!!!!! WE LOVE YOU!”

The floor slightly tumbled from the new students trying their best to touch or even atleast talk to him.

“Oi! Get away!”

She hears him yell across the hallway. Her heart thumped at the low tone. Bringing her hand over her chest, she pressed the material gently,

“Since the war, not everyone has fully recovered properly, correct?” The man said lowly, looking over at the students in the room. “And since with your help last week, we were able to rebuild a great amount of infrastructure…”

A few students cheered at the announcement, some even glancing at each other with a smile on their faces.

“So,” Aizawa follows after, turning his head towards the door, “For today, Class 2-A, we will be undergoing Rehabilitation.”

The whole class went still, if there would have been a pin, it would have reached the next room even.

“R-rehabilation?!”

Familiar with these types of reaction, Aizawa tapped his finger on his desk, awaiting for the inevitable questions to come.

“But— shouldn’t we continue to help them down there? Sensei?” Kirishima tilts his head.

Yaoyorozou nods along. “Wouldn’t it be the sensible option? The sooner everything is rebuilt, the sooner Japan gets better again.”

“You’ve all done more than enough,” He takes a step back from his desk. “More than any aspiring hero student should have done for the country.” Aizawa continues, walking towards the door. “It’s time to give the first years a chance to experience firsthand the aftermath too—so please welcome your supervisor for today—“

“Miss [Name] L/N,” he slides the door open.

But there was only that same wall on the other side.

And a gush of air.

“M-m-maybe that battle left more than physical scars—“ Kaminari voiced out in horror, fearing for the state of his teacher’s mind.

“I’m not crazy.” The said teacher flatly replied and just proceeded to stand quietly by the door.

Kaminari gave him a thumbs up, putting up the act of believing him in hopes of being spared by a soon mental breakdown or something.

“But anyways, as Class President, I speak for the class when I say thay we would like to help our fellow citizens to rebuild—“

Aizawa shook his head. “Principal Nezu has made this your assignment for the first week, especially for this class.”

“Special assignment…?” Midoriya muttered.

“He’s right.” A voice says from the back of the room. A few students jump in surprise.

The girl only smiles. “I’m glad to meet you, Class 2-A.”

She roamed her eyes over the surprised faces, only to find one that did not really seem interested on the subject at hand. Their eyes met briefly but with that intense shade of red, it was enough for her cheeks to turn a bit pink. The girl flashed a smile once more before jumping slightly, a slight shade of blue twirled with the space she had been.

“What the—“

“Let’s do our best today,” her voice came in front this time. They snapped ahead, confusion settling in, “I made sure the course was especially designed for you guys.”

“Teleportation?” Midoriya looked over to his small friend.

“Hey Mine—“ he could only look at his friend with a deadpan as to that familiar mouth watering state that small boy was in.

With that, Rehabilitation Class had begun.

A bob of pink hair leaped slightly. “Hey miss, how old are you? You look too young to be a supervisor.”

“I’m not,” she replies, handing Pinky a small jar. “And i’m the same age as you.”

“Whaa—? Then, why are you doing this? And handling us?”

Even with the curiosity and questioning, [Name] didn’t mind at all. She liked this, being normal, being treated so normally. It felt nice and warm.

“Because of him,” the tip of her ears went warm and her hand came to cover her cheeks.

“Ooh I see!” The student smiled brightly. This was cute! This girl had a crush on one of her classmated, who could it be? Pinky toned her vision to the direction she was pointing at, there was that white and red hair, who was throwing darts of ice into a bucket.

“Ah you mean Todoro—“

“No,” the girl said quickly.

But behind him, was that familiar blonde with sparkling hues as he tried to flex his right arm.

’That…shit eating grin,’ Mina thought.

“Him.”
