Work Text:
Overview:
U.A High is where future hero's are made. But what if, somewhere down the line, the wrong person was put in a leadership position, and slowly corrupted U.A from the inside? Children are naturally more susceptible to grooming, and can be desensitized to violence and nefarious acts. For decades, U.A has been used as a training facility for obedient hitmen and soldiers.
However, none of them know that.
In this AU, U.A is run by criminals, as well as every hero organization across the globe. The people behind this run the crime operations...and the hero agencies. The new students and heros are taught obedience, discipline, and efficiency. Those deemed a 'danger' to the cause (those who speak their mind, who have the potential to expose this whole operation) are disposed of.
Those who earn the trust of the powerful leaders behind all of this are elevated, and a few are even chosen to learn the truth of the organization. Anyone who attempts to leave is killed in cold blood.
Class 1-A is the most promising group of students yet, but also the most defiant. Having been monitored since their quirks manifested, every child was chosen for this program before they even submitted their application. However, this class is different. Oftentimes defying orders to save one another, or to argue against their teachers. Most notable is Katsuki Bakugou. His supervisor noticed that he was unusually wily, and sent the Sludge Monster to scare him into obedience, intending to use the PTSD to groom him into silence. Instead, he only got more loud, more boisterous- more difficult to control. Midoriya Izuku was also unexpected, and quickly added to the program after his incredible quirk manifested. Many workers at the organization's headquarters are working overtime to figure out how they could have missed such an incredible quirk manifesting.
Toshinori Yagi, one of their top agents, was assigned to keep an eye on him.
Nemuri Kayama was tasked with disciplining Bakugou by any means necessary short of permenant harm, and death.
Shouta Aizawa was given the assignment to train and mentor Class 1-A, and make them into the perfect 'heros' for the organization.
Okay! That's most of the backstory without any spoilers :)
All of Class 1-A is in this, but I probably won't mention evrery single one of them, mostly bakusquad and dekusquad. Eri will make an appearance later on. Aizawa and Hizashi are going to be prominent characters as well, with Midnight and All-Might being in there when I need em to be.
The LoV will be included in all of their glory, as well as other basic villains on occaision, or ones I make up because I need them for the plot.
Some major plot points will stay the same, like the final exams at the end of Season Two, and Bakugou's kidnapping. The class will have run away by the time their provisional license tests should have occurred.
Also. Aizawa/Hizashi know about the corruption, but stayed because they felt like they could dismantle the operation from the inside, and help more people by staying. All-Might is starting to realize, and when he transferred OFA to Midoriya, he didn't tell the organization because he had a gut feeling something bad might happen to lil Izuku if they found out.
Aizawa mainly thought something was sus about the organization when he had previous students mysteriously 'drop out'. He went to visit a grave of an elderly neighbor, simply to pay respects since he was invited to the funeral but couldn't make it, and he found the grave of one of his old students, one who'd been especially outspoken and often rebellious. Aizawa had liked them quite a bit. They also had a 'Villainous Quirk', and often lashed out. Aizawa looked into it more, and saw an increasingly concerning amount of students dropping out, quickly replaced, only to find their graves weeks later. The families he went too had no recollection of their children dropping out. They were told it was a tragic accident that occured at U.A. All of the kids killed were ones who were outspoken, curious, and did what they knew was right- even if they went against direct orders. Aizawa never saw a student again after he was told they'd dropped out of U.A. The students never told anyone they were leaving the school. Everything would appear normal. Then they would be gone.
Also-- I used some villain quirk prejudice in the fic i recently published, and that's because U.A will have their spies/media leaks label students as 'villanous' or 'dangerous', even if they aren't, to keep them in check. To make them even more eager to prove themselves, so they'll listen to orders without question, if thats what it takes for them to prove they're not a villain. That's why Midnight and Aizawa were such good agents. They had this same method used on them. Midnight was projecting it onto Bakugou, and suconsciously using the same method. Sorry if people like Midnight, I just used her as a scapegoat for my plot schemes <3
I'll make more of these when I progress in the plot a bit more!
