Work Text:
Roman whined, groaning loudly as he stared at a blank canvas.
Paint brush in hand, Roman held it up, hovering over specific areas of the canvas but never actually making contact with the board.
“What seems to be troubling you, Roman?” Logan asked begrudgingly taking the bait of his boyfriend’s desperate cry for attention.
“Logan I don’t know what I wanna paaaaint!” Roman cried, flailing exasperatedly towards the canvas.
“If you are unsure of what you are capturing, then why are you attempting to paint in the first place?” Logan questioned.
“Well it started because Thomas needed some inspiration for a script, but I’m not feeling the most creative at the moment…” Roman admitted. His head hung low, evidently embarrassed by his inability to “get creative.”
“And what exactly was blocking you from helping with the script?” I asked, “Perhaps the issue is not with your medium but more of a mental block?”
“What are you implying?” Roman drawled skeptically.
“I’m suggesting, perhaps you could use someone to brainstorm with? Like you said, you’re having trouble—-”
“Logan!! Are you offering to help me?” Roman exclaimed, grabbing me by the shoulders.
“Yes, is that not what I just said?” I deadpanned, caressing Roman’s face.
Flustered, Roman seemed to trip over his words before I lightly pushed him out of my personal bubble.
“R-right! Sorry Logan ////” Roman apologized, looking uncharacteristically bashful.
Ever since we agreed to form our courtship, I separated Roman’s flash cards from the rest of the sides so that I could focus on keeping our partnership functional.
One of those things I took note of was physical touch. My love language consists more of positive words and thoughtful discussions while Roman was primarily focused on touch.
Sure he also loves getting a gift or two, but gifts are more Patton’s thing.
Anything I wrote during our discussions or debates I put into Roman’s pile. I kept a journal to keep track of our dates, how they progressed and what went well for both Roman and myself.
My collection of flash cards for Roman became so extensive that I had to conjure up a cork board just to keep track of everything.
When Roman first saw the board he said and I quote “This is really thoughtful Logan, kinda creepy, but mostly thoughtful!”
Roman also teased me about how often he seemed to occupy my headspace but I argued that it was his fault for being so high maintenance.
Apologies I got off track, but my point stands that Roman feels most loved through touch.
“Was that too much?” I inquired, taking his hands into mine.
Roman shook his head.
“No no I actually ////” Roman trailed off, his face appearing as red as the sash on his chest.
“Actually what?” I asked, but Roman shook his head.
“It’s too embarrassing to admit out loud!” Roman replied, “you’re gonna put it on the wall!”
“If it’s something more private I’ll just write it in my journal” I offered.
Roman sighed, leaning in to whisper in my ear
“I liked it when you held my face like that”
“What? Like this?” I teased, putting my hand underneath his chin, my other hand running through the back of his hair.
“Y-yes that” Roman answered, his green eyes averting their gaze.
Roman has always been a very sensitive person, but since we began our courtship, I’ve been amazed at just how strongly he feels about me.
I may not feel romantic love in the way that he does, but it’s difficult not to be flattered when you have someone like Roman wrapped around your finger. Figuratively.
“May I suggest we take this conversation somewhere more private?” I whispered back, pressing my thumb into Roman’s lower lip.
“Sure—YES—I mean of course!” Roman sputtered.
I pulled away, grinning at him as I turned back towards my room in the Mind Palace.
Roman followed after me, much like a lovesick dog.
Closing the door behind us, Roman didn’t hesitate to wrap his arms around me.
“Can I kiss you please?” Roman asked politely.
I told Roman that I would allow us to be physically intimate on the condition that he warns me ahead of time so that I may mentally prepare myself.
The sensation of kissing itself is pleasant, but oftentimes I am simply not in the mood for it, and would rather not be kissed or even touched all the time.
“Yes, you may.” I responded, as Roman leaned in, removing my glasses before kissing me fervently.
I kissed him back, reciprocating his touch in ways I knew he liked. As he pinned me against my mattress I’d tuck stray strands of hair that fell in his face and rest my other hand against his back.
After several minutes of making out, I gently pushed Roman away, putting my index finger over his lips.
“That’s enough for right now—why don’t you talk to me about that art block?” I questioned, taking out my journal to take notes.
Roman pulled away, pouting, but ultimately understanding.
“I got a little carried away, sorry Logan” he answered, out of breath, his face flushed.
“You’re fine.” I replied, “if you want you can hold onto me”
Roman’s face lit up, figuratively speaking, as he wrapped one arm around my waist and rested his head on my chest.
“Is this alright?” He asked, and even though I couldn’t see his face I could tell his eyes were looking up at me.
“Yes Roman this is fine, thank you.” I affirmed, ruffling his hair. “Now, art block, talk. What can I do to help?”
“Well…it’s just difficult when I have so many ideas, but I’m not able to piece them together in a way that makes sense,” Roman explained, running his freehand back through his hair.
“I see…then I suppose you’ll just have to narrow it down. Pick a larger topic, focus on the points that support the overall topic and save the other ideas for another project.”
“And how do I narrow it down exactly?” Roman asked, fidgeting with my necktie.
“Well like you said Roman, you just need to look for things that spark your interest. I’m sure something will come to you. You’re very good at what you do when the right inspiration hits.”
Roman stayed silent for a moment, shifting his position so he could look up at me.
There it was again. That same lovesick expression plastered on his face.
“You’re really smart, you know that Logan?”
“Yes, I’m aware.” I bragged, and his love sickness was cured almost instantly.
“I take it back, I forgot how inflated your ego is~” Roman rolled his eyes, but his grin remained unchanged.
“You’re forgetting something Ro” I countered, leaning in dangerously close, pressing one hand on the back of his neck and the other against his chest.
“First being that in terms of our pride, we are in fact equally matched. There is not one other person I know who is so concerned about his appearance or his work more than myself. Other than you.”
Roman swallowed hard, leaning into my touch as my palm made contact with his cheekbone.
“And second,” I whispered, kissing him quick as my teeth grazed over his bottom lip “I’m the same person you were making out with moments ago”
“-P-Point taken.” Roman murmured, completely enamored by me, “Y-you win”
Roman may be irritating at times (A LOT of times) but in that moment I could very objectively place him in first as the cutest boyfriend ever.
“Would it be alright if I talk with you more about my ideas? And maybe kiss your hands a few times?” Roman asked hopefully, taking my hand in his, raising it a few inches from his lips.
I nodded, leaning back so I could fully look at him.
“That would be lovely <3”
