Chapter Text

"When are you gonna get rid of that guy, again?"

"Soon."

——

The stalling was getting harder. Ellernate was getting impatient, even though the idea of occulting Chance was initially iTrapped's idea.

And he was sure Ellernate was catching onto it.

"So, Isaac, we gotta talk."

Ellernate began, fingers clasped together before his mouth, elbows propped on the table. Pensive expression, even if his face wasn't apparent.

"What's with you and that Chance guy? You said—"

"Yeah, yeah, Ellernate. I know."

iTrapped sighed, rubbing his face with his hands, as if this conversation was already starting to wear him down.

"Then what's taking you so long?!"

Impatience was practically dripping down Ellernate's tounge, hands clenching against each other tighter simultaneously with the raising of his voice.

iTrapped hesitated, hiding it with his hands.

"I need more time. That's all. We have to make sure their swooning over me. If they doubt my intentions for even a moment, it's over for us."

A blatant lie. Chance was stupid, they wouldn't catch onto his manipulation, even if the mask entirely slipped.

Ellernate narrowed his eyes from under the Dominus, leaning forward to iTrapped.

"Is that so?"

"Yes, Ellernate."

"Isaac, are you sure they don't already trust you? Just kill them already!"

Caleb interrupted both, glancing at iTrapped, head in the middle of both his arms as he talked. Having two bastards arguing like that was boring.

"Have you not seen the way they look at you? Bet you could ask them to lick the floor and they'd gladly to it."

"Caleb's got a point. Isaac, c'mon, dude. You said that this was going to take just a few months? It's been a year and a half already."

"'Sides, wasn't this your idea? Your flawless idea?"

"Calm down, you two. I'm just making sure. I'll act soon enough. The Darkheart's already mine, anyway. I'm just.."

He pretended to contemplate, tapping his chin, a cocky smirk slowly appearing on his face, one that didn't quite reach his intentions.

"..Waiting for the right time."

"Now that's more like it!"

Ellernate howled in satisfaction, the initial impatience melting almost immediately. Caleb just watched, though the smile was there.

"Just imagine what we could do with the BanLands!"

_______

This wasn't how it was meant to evolve. iTrapped hated that guy. He wanted them dead. He found them irritating, obnoxious, self absorbed, cocky, arrogant. Yet.. they were charming. So charming, it almost made him forget about how much he wanted them dead.

It was a slow development. iTrapped would've never keep a process longer than a year if he truly wanted something from someone. He was a punctual, competent guy, this delay wasn't something unintentional.

Sure, the endless supply of wealth was really good. Initially, that's all he wanted, but..

'Hey, Chance. Would you be so kind to give me a few bucks?' with a mask that hid his utter disgust was all he needed for them to give in without any other thought.  'Of course, 'Trap! Anythin for the prettiest man I know!', they'd respond eagerly, voice laced with flirtation and an undeniable want to please the other, to which said other would respond with a vague thanks and scurry off, hiding his urge to gag at Chance's words. He didn't need their praise.

The requests were getting slower. Much, much slower. It was something gradual, something not even iTrapped caught himself doing until recently. The compliments that came along also started to blossom something in him.

'Hey! If it isn't the man I think about every night!' Chance would loudly declare in greetings. That.. made iTrapped feel weird. Not in a way that made him want to hurl. He couldn't explain what it was.

g

No, he could explain it. He was a clever guy. Rather just didn't want to accept it.

It was starting to intensify every day. There was a growing desire to just.. want to spend more time with Chance. No matter what they were doing.

iTrapped conviced himself and his friends that it was just a 'seduction tactic', that they'd soon not hear a word about Chance..

But that soon was taking an awful lot of time.

iTrapped sighed, leaning his cheek onto his propped up wrist, swirling his gin—continuously, slowly—as the loud noise of people wasting their money soon became background static to his thinking. Ellernate was already pissed off enough.

"Heya, 'Trap! Sorry for takin' so long,"

That voice soon snapped iTrapped out of his trance, with him responding a bit too quickly for his liking.

"What were you doing, anyway?"

He inquired with no bitterness whatsoever, just a bit of irritation as his gaze landed on them, eyes still narrowed, but undeniably dilating, even if just barely.

"Oh, yannow. It's the whole reason why I brought you here anyway!"

Chance sat right next to him, already ordering their own drink—Wine. He had remembered it, down to how many ice cubes of ice they liked.

He didn't respond right away, getting lost a bit on the gin.

"..Right, right."

His gaze flicked between the drink and Chance ordering their drink with a grin. A cocky, charming grin. One he couldn't tear his eyes away from.

"So, whadd'ya think of this one? Pretty neat, eh?"

They took a sip, elbowing the other's ribs.

".. If by 'neat' you mean the same as any other casino you dragged me into, then sure."

iTrapped took a sip of his own drink.

"When will we ever do something different? It's getting a bit boring going into every other gambler's wet dream every time we go out."

iTrapped suddenly said with a bit of irritation. Not the usual one, rather just one that would come along a pout.

Chance blinked.

"You.. you wanted to go somewhere else?"

"Of course. It gets repetitive just wasting money."

"Well, not for you apparently, seeing as you're a weirdo who gets off to losing money."

iTrapped thought twice about saying he wanted to do something that involved directly them. Not just going to a place together then forgetting about each other.

"Wow, uh. I had no clue. I'll think of somethin' more interesting for next time. Just for ya,"

Chance pulled the other by his shoulders. iTrapped had to push down that small sense of satisfaction that was bubbling.

"I hope so."
