Peeling, gaudy, theirs. A water stain near the ceiling they'll have to worry about eventually.
Andrew opens his eyes expecting a different room—blue walls, two other beds, heat from a bigger body still clinging to him. Before the numbness or fury can set in, the flowery wallpaper jumps out to him. Here, here, you are here.
He turns his head, finds Neil breathing deep and quiet. Some residue of the hunted years remains, but not in this: he hasn't stirred.
With his eyes on his anchor's softly fluttering eyelashes, he manages to fall back into a more peaceful sleep.
