Work Text:
Truly, Gayoung actually doesn't care that much about trivial things. But that always depends on context. Ruminating on stupid things is never really a good idea; she's learned as much from Woni.
She's staring blankly into the bathroom mirror brushing her teeth when Minami bursts through the door behind her. Gayoung watches as Minami makes a direct dive for the toilet bowl and projectile vomit into it two seconds later. Gross.
Gayoung finds herself wanting to ask how or why, but she then remembers how Minami, as well as Kyungeun and Woni, had all used their lack of evening schedule to go drinking. Just the three of them. Of course, that's perfectly fair—neither herself or Yebin are of drinking age—but also. Damn. Talk about feeling a little left out.
Though, it's not something she's really thought about overly; drinking, that is. She's still got a while until she legally can, and she wouldn't say she's counting down the months, either. To whether Yebin thinks the same as her is something she could not tell you. But if there's one thing she can tell you, it's that it feels… weird? knowing that it was just those three out.
Minami gurgles out something that sounds like a curse. Definitely not in Korean, if Gayoung were to guess. She spits the remaining toothpaste in her mouth out into the sink.
"You okay?" Gayoung asks, and debates whether she should go over or just give Minami space.
Minami grunts out a noise of affirmation before the contents of her stomach are again emptied out into the toilet. Gayoung can only grimace.
Her legs are moving before she's really thinking. She joins Minami on the floor, hunched; though not exactly draped across the floor like the latter is. It's a bit difficult to push Minami's hair out of her face, but she gets there in the end. Gayoung flushes when she catches herself staring at her side profile for too long.
"How was your night?" she further asks, feeling out of place just sitting here.
Minami coughs. It has the essence of an iPad kid. "G-good. It was good."
"Are Woni-unnie and Kyungeun-unnie fine?"
"Probably," Minami huffs, now suddenly seeming irritated. "They pushed me too much."
Hm. Checks out. Gayoung would half-expect as much from Kyungeun. But maybe not from Woni. She'll have to investigate that later.
Gayoung clears her throat. The toothpaste from earlier still lingers in her mouth. "Do you want me to get you water or—"
"No," Minami interjects, brazenly. For the first time, she actually looks up from the toilet, meets Gayoung's eyes. "No, just—stay. Please."
Well, then. Gayoung changes the way she sits, now criss-cross on the porcelain floor tile. It's so cold in here. Or was that from Minami looking at her. She can't tell.
And it's awkward, really. Not that the situation at hand is awkward or that Gayoung is weird-ed out by vomit or just by drinking in general; but rather the fact Minami's been subtly avoiding her since last week over that stupid kiss. Gayoung still hasn't really processed it and yet Minami is already several worlds ahead of her.
It makes her wonder, passively, if that is why Minami drank so much. A semi-terrible assumption to make, sure, but you never know. She knows Minami well enough to know she's sort of. Extra. About these types of things. A part of Gayoung is also dying to know whether drunk-Minami is unstable enough to bring it up herself.
Unlikely, but it never hurts to hope.
If anything, Gayoung just wants clarification. It is annoyingly trivial, and unfortunately, she just can't stop dwelling on it. A cycle, being what it is; thinking, wondering whether she did anything wrong or if Minami is just being weird and then getting frustrated all over again. Hell, she wouldn't even deny that she enjoyed it—so what's Minami's deal?
A groan, and another round of bile. When Minami pushes her head back far enough, Gayoung flushes the toilet. At least they only have an evening schedule tomorrow.
Where's Woni? Or Kyungeun, or for that matter. Didn't they all come back together? Maybe there is a downside to having more than one bathroom now. If this was before, she could've cornered an actually sober-Minami in their shared bedroom, conjure some lie to Kyungeun about Yebin needing her, or something like that. Now, Gayoung's going to have to actually try and find a good opportunity to talk to Minami about the damn kiss.
And on the topic of those three—Gayoung can only shudder thinking about what they could've been speaking about. Or if they were even talking about much at all. She can only pray Minami wasn't airing out any of her business to Woni or Kyungeun. Gayoung would, kindly, rather die.
Something pokes into Gayoung's cheek. She blinks, realizes it's Minami's index finger.
"Cute…" Minami mumbles, before wiping vomit off her face with the back of her other hand and onto her jeans. It's actually quite disgusting, but Gayoung doesn't say that. At least not outwardly. She's too focused on Minami's doting, anyway.
"Your breath is terrible," being what Gayoung settles with instead. It's enough to make Minami giggle, and with little warning, she tackles Gayoung to the ground.
It's a little uncomfortable, having your drunk group-mate settle her entire body-weight on top of you and the smell of throw-up lingering in the background and The Elephant that either of you are yet to address also being in that background, but Gayoung isn't going to complain about any of that. It sort of reminds her of that day. It's nice (minus The Elephant).
"I'm sorry," Minami says, whispering if anything. She sounds unsure, and it makes Gayoung frown.
Gayoung tries to sit up, but she can't exactly get very far. "…sorry for what?"
"Mm—," Minami sputters. "Nothing, actually. Doesn't matter." She flashes Gayoung a grin, like that's any sort of saving grace.
The bathroom door, again, flies open.
"Hm—Ack," Yebin says, and she turns back to call out into the hallway. "Found her. And Gayoung, too."
There's a barrage of footsteps coming from down the hall right as Minami rolls off her, now choosing to lay face up on the tiles.
Gayoung sighs. She's gained nothing but smelling like vomit.
